Pairs SP, Friday 11/18/11

B/L - it looked to me (non-skater) like he didn't throw her hard enough. (She fell.) Now has he gained weight and she lost weight since last season? They just don't look matched... and I don't like seeing lady skaters looking like sticks.

I don't think she's lost any weight recently... She's been kind of scary skinny, IMO, for years. :disapp: She's starting to land her 3T more normally at least.

I enjoyed Jessica & Eric and Amanda & Mark' programs, Amanda 's dress was beautiful. I am hoping that they can move up
and medal here. They always seem to end up in 4th place. Tat & Max's SP is growing on me, I prefer their LP.

Which pair will be the third in the russian national champ?

Vera BAZAROVA / Yuri LARIONOV
Lubov ILIUSHECHKINA / Nodari MAISURADZE
Katarina GERBOLDT / Alexander ENBERT
Ksenia STOLBOVA / Fedor KLIMOV

Don't think S/K is a factor this year.
B/L > G/E == I/M > S/K
This is the pecking order. B/L will likely get the bronze. They are not good, but they are still better than the other 3.
I/M and B/L have the same problem: the girls are too weak. Lubov is more inconsistent with the jumps than Vera, if that's possible.
The only possible spoiler is G/E.

V/T deserve their lead but I am not a huge fan of the programme, their is no denying their power and attach but the music just grates. Enjoyed the Canadians in second. An improved performance from B/L in third, it looks like she landed the SBS jump but they were out of sync.

I think the 3rd spot on the Russian team is open B/L and I/M have been underwhelming so far this season. G/E were just pipped by B/H in Nice but had a decent long after a poor short, will be interested to see how they do in COR. S/K impressed me today excluding the error on the lift and the death spiral, they had attack and speed, hopefully they can skate better tomorrow, not sure they would get the 3rd Russian spot.

T/M were overscored. How the hell would those judges give them 0, +1 on the goe for that throw?
Performance wise, B/L were the best
E/L finally joined the 7+ club in pcs
D/W were the cleanest. They have improved quite a bit since the last two competitions. They were underscored.
S/L had massive speed from the get go but ran out of steam at the end.

The sp of V/T makes me think there is too much emoting going around for just an evanessence song. Cant like it. But except for the music choices they are gorgeous to watch. I m curious to see them competing with S/S this year.
I like mostly the B/L and I/M teams though for some reason, sad that neither will be in GpF.

I agree with this, and I hope G/E ARE the spoiler. I don't like Bazarova/Larionov, find them boring. I/M are growing on me this season though. S/K have potential to be contenders AFTER Sochi. Minus the fall on the death spiral, their SP was great, lots of energy.

Btw, what is it with freaky mistakes lately on non-jump elements? V/T in this competition, S/S in the last one..

Ksenia STOLBOVA / Fedor KLIMOV -- I really hope they make it to Worlds this year. Their choreographic ability is superb, easily some of the best around. They certainly can and should be World Champions at some point if they get their technical elements in line.
