It is evident for me that Kathy's decision surprised Patrick and not only it him has concerned his current plans but it has changed his plans to move to Vancouver. I think that it is an intelligent decision not to have coach for the present and that he takes a time to decide the one who is convenient for him.

I don't understand why all of you're so calm perceive it. Yes, I'm an alarmist, but it isn't normal practice for himself. Yes, I don't argue , Patrick is amazing skater, but he has a serious problem with the technique and sometimes with the mentality. He is too going through, and I'm not sure that he alone will be able to pull myself before the main start . Correct me if I'm wrong .
And yes, now I'm nervous more than before)) Someone calm me down XD
But I just don't want to see how my favorite skater commits reckless acts.
And now I'm really afraid of the new season.

Well, I'm glad that he's your favorite skater, too! :)

As for him skating alone - that's actually nothing new. Last season he skated alone a lot and Kathy only went to Michigan to coach him twice a week. He seems a lot more relaxed now, and I like what he said about learning to make mistakes and move on in practice, instead of starting over and getting frustrated. I saw this in his show performances over this spring and summer, where he would fall on a jump and get right back up and skate on as if nothing had happened. I'm impressed with how he's been growing as a performer in this way. It will only help him in competition.

Now, the search for the holy grail - er, perfect coach is on.

There is no sign of him being surprised by Kathy's decision. We don't know how the current situation developed at all. Not knwoing the sequence means not know which is the cause and which is the effect.

As I noted before, he has always segued from one coach to the next as things happened and the new coaches came into his life. Searching for a coach is not something he has done before. The good thing is that he knows himself so well now that he also knows what to look for in a coach.

IFS Magazine posted this video clip of Patrick:

He has a lot of projects lined up after he retires. :)

Thx to all for the Patrick videos and updates today :).

[Surprised that such ardent Patrick fans here are not interested in preserving video permalinks for posterity.
In case I ever want to come back and re-watch this video without wading through the IFS timeline to find it, I will be selfish enough to post the permalink:

ahhhh NBC.... what a silly article... this is what medias do...

Patrick has always said he would no skate after 2018.... he even retired already once :) what big news hey? but they make it sound like he is retiring BECAUSE KJ is gone and because the others have more quads.... sigh...

What kind of information is that? Patrick will be retiring because he will be in his late twenties....

Might as well ask all the NBC darling American skaters to retire since they don't have quads... (sorry USA friends... this is just a sarcastic joke).

Thank you! Good article - He's hoping to do the 4S at Finlandia!

I think here we have a psychic (perhaps 4everchan?) who predicted almost everything Patrick said today:
"Worlds is in Finland, not the same rink but same time zone, and Kathy and I thought it would be beneficial, especially the two years leading up to Olympics," Chan said. "(I can) focus on getting out there and more for my competitive side than my professional side, getting a short program and long program out, getting used to the jet leg this early in the season."

Yes, and as we thought Patrick would be in Finland Trophy. Hurry to see him. *0*
And very pleased with his words about 4C. We had to long wait, but i'm sure, it's would be something amazing *-*

The 25-year-old Chan said there are "ongoing discussions" with Skate Canada's high performance director Mike Slipchuk about who his next coach will be. - yes, new coach will still to be. It's good. Alarmist inside me just a little bit calm down)))

Thanks all of you for all photos, video and articles

Patrick doing FOOTWORK!!!!! ALWAYS DIVINE!!!!! One of the main problems Patrick had with the MTK SP was that he felt rushed. Both music choices this year should give Patrick enough breathing space to skate calmly. Can't wait to see both programs in full. It should be glorious (hopefully with non-muted SP music). And his first time at Finlandia - yay! :hap10: Is it October yet?
