It was lines like "Nathan laminated purely arbitrary program with four different quads," that suggested that using the translation program to take the first cut might not be the ideal shortcut at the end of a long weekend. ;)

Knowing a few very different languages helps me understand some weird translations pretty good. :)

Where I play pingpong, I say "thank you" in 6 or 7 languages as we help each other pick up runaway balls.

i will refrain from editing your post into something silly :) :laugh2:

already watch my favourite birdie already :)
No weird translation from you!

Looks like you got your dose of silly happiness. No need for Black Bird today.

I am crazy in love with Patrick's program this year :) both of them... even if the music for either of them isn't my cup of tea, i think the choreo is masterful and Patrick performs them so well.

Considering many skaters aren't really ready with their programs, I think Patrick really means business this year since his programs are already refined. Of course, he needs to work on his jumps but he is human, first competition jitters... I wouldn't be surprised if he showed up at skate canada and wowed everyone ;)

Thank you TGee for the Russian articles! I love what Marina said here:

"So anything is possible, if the entire approach is reasonable, competently and with love. I've always been a fan of Patrick's."

It looks like Patrick may have found his golden coach! I love that he said this:

"Yes. I have the feeling, which I haven’t had for a long time – a desire to progress and compete. I don’t know why, but this feeling appeared. And I enjoy it, I’m glad what I do on practices."

Just wonderful - so happy for him. He seems to have found a good skating "family" to be with! :hap10:

yup... that quote means a lot... last year, he looked a bit scared and nervous... this year, he looks like he wants to skate and he looks more serene...

Looking forward to reading about all of your favourite moments in the LP :)

Sorry to not have a longer answer - the day ended up very full and I'm about to drop. But my favorite part of the LP is the step sequence leading up to the final change foot combo spin and subtle dramatic finish. That look in Patrick eyes at the end - that look of perhaps wistful reminiscing - drew me into his journey.

It's interesting to me that Patrick's opening stance in both SP and LP is to look down at the ice, instead of upward or straight ahead. Maybe it's a technique to help him focus? It does make him seem less tense.

what's wrong with laminating quads lol

You all are going to want to read this article. It's about Meagan and Eric, but goes into a detailed discussion about Chiddy's music.

Why do I now have this meme in mind: Chen the younger, Quad Laminator.....?

Well, as Marina said, Nathan came to her with quads, but to learn artistry. She comes across to me as somewhat bemused by the situation, but ready to give that love to him towards a long term transformation. And she's quite transparent that she believes that seeing Patrick daily as a training mate will contribute to Nathan's journey.

Thank you for the article offering insights and a few glimpses into the hearts and souls of these champion skaters. Patrick has had some similar experiences as this pair of his friends so I think it may be part of the reason Eric's music resonated with him.

I think and hope this too is where Patrick is at:

"A lot of our goals have become more personal and not score based," Radford said. "A good skate is what makes us feel happy. Taking it competition by competition and improving and having our good skates at those important moments under pressure. If [the throw triple axel] doesn't happen, we are still going to be OK."
:2thumbs:

I wasn't concerned about Patrick's choice of Marina for his new coach, but their partnership is more fruitful than I expected. Patrick landed 2 triple axels in the FS at Finlandia! He had some trouble with quad instead, but given his SC outing last season, his priority seemed to me checking on his programs first and to get used with the programs. More I watch his FS, more I like it. The music is at least not a distracting factor for my anticipation on his program. :)

What are the wonderful words... I totaly agree with you.

Complete Finlandia FS practice video that gives us a better idea of his jumps:

Also, he had a strange fall at 3:44... not sure what caused it...

More Finlandia photos, thanks to littlelithium!

Gotta go update my blog post now! :)

jumps look healthier than ever

fall : just shows you how patrick is always pushing the limits of the edges.... :)

too bad he skipped some of the jumps in here as it would have helped confirming the layout :)

but we know now that the first pass should be the 4t-3t and at finlandia, this may have derailed him since he wasn't able to make the first pass into a combo... makes me feel really good about the future.

the music will never be my cup of tea but patrick's skating to it is becoming a masterpiece.... watch out folks.. this may dethrone chopin just as chopin dethrone 4 seasons...
