Patrick Chan

thanks!!! you are sweet!

4everchan

I'm so thankful you join this thread and I'm so grateful you have a Big Mouth  to speak up and defend Patrick from those unfair, nasty criticisms that he gets, a big thanks from me and I always enjoy your postings too.:thank:

i like this avatar better too.. more patrick is always good
Sadly, I don't know how to photoshop. Good idea, though, if someone else wants to do it and keep posting them daily until SC. ;)

:thank: I'm glad you don't mind the length of my posts! I ramble when I get excited, and Patrick and his skating gets me excited, always.

Such beautiful images of Patrick!

I don't remember if you linked this photo here but they sure look brotherly.

Thank you, VB! :)

Yes, I have that photo in my Finlandia roundup post here, but it's buried in the middle, so it's nice to see it here again. I just love it that Patrick now has a lil' bro to train with - so many nice photos of the two 師兄弟 together at Finlandia!

By the way, if anyone's interested in what Patrick sees when he commutes to work at Arctic Edge everyday, here's a video that gives you an idea:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hthcw8__qb0&feature=youtu.be&t=353

Nice tour that shows the town's airport, high schools, etc. Lots of tall trees in Michigan... :)

-------

What a ironic coincidence! According to Wikipedia, the township of Canton was named after Canton, China:

"The Township of Canton was created by act of the Michigan Territorial Legislature on March 7, 1834 out of a southern portion of Plymouth Township. It was named in honor of the port and provincial capital known historically as Canton, Imperial China, which in 1918 was renamed Guangzhou (Chinese: 廣州; pinyin: Guǎngzhōu) — now the capital and largest city of Guangdong province, People's Republic of China."

I guess when my translation software wants to translate Canton into 廣州 on my site, it's actually correct!

Fascinating info about how Canton was named. I love that particular picture of Patrick and Nathan -- I had missed it before. Similar last names, completely different skating styles, quickly becoming best buddies. And lastly, if we weren't already well past Finlandia, I would use one of those as my avatar. Both are wonderful.

The real names of the city Guangzhou and the Guangdong Province have always been the same. "Canton" is an English word similar to "county" in the US and is the name of various towns in English speaking countries. For some reason, it was the English name for Gaungzhou and Guangdong, thus the language Cantonese. When nations regain pride, they refuse Western names such as Cambodia, Rhodesia, Canton, etc, and have their real names recognized internationally. Canton was not renamed in 1918 but the correct names in their standardized pingying spelling became common and official internationally in the last couple of decades.

Patrick and Nathan have the exact same Chinese family name spelled differently from the formerly called Cantonese and Mandarin, now Guangong dialect and Putonghua, as do Lu, Karen, and Tran. They are brothers in the Chinese sense. Here, I call them Brothers Chean.

Oh, It will be a long week. I'm so excited and a little bit afraid, but so want to see Patrick and his beatiful programs *____*
I'll have to skip Halloween's party, but I'm not pity))

Lol, 4everchan on your travels.

Ayara, last year the entire time I was out trick o'treating I had my phone out and I was constantly refreshing this forum... ;)

BTW, the Russian (and other language) translations on my site is delayed until I can figure out what to do next. Apparently my translation software is somewhat limited.

I am late on my SC preview post - too tired, will have to post it tomorrow.

Ahah, I think you'll not be alone in this year whos refreshing forum all the time)))

That's no problem) If we need, we can translate it by ourselves)) Don't worry about it.

O! I'm so like your story about ice prince Patrick)) Story is so arrrrr))

:agree: I'm so excited for SC. If Yuzu doesn't bomb his SP like last year, I think he will win, but I hope Patrick gets silver. I hope he is able to make the GPF because it's another chance to see his programs in competition. (Granted, I did not expect Patrick to win SC last year either, but look what happened, so you never know). Yes, it will be a long week of anticipation! :hap85:

Count me in on that! And please remember to bring all of the Patrick videos and articles here so I only have to go to this thread. It's quicker for me to find, as well as more enjoyable, if everything is in this thread. Of course, there is vivley's fansite as a fabulous alternative/addition to this thread.

Expecting news and articles this week leading to the SCI. Much for us to chew on and to gather up good vibes for Patrick.

Expecting to see Patrick's 4S debut and an adjusted Journey. Expecting to be wowed. Expecting to see Patrick on the podium, possibly on top.

Expecting Patrick to be content with his journey and the signals along the way.

Oh, I love your post about competition. It's really interesting. But I still don't see russian time in timezones(( That's a little bit not fair)))))

And I'd like to suggest Sydney, Australia for Chan fans down under.....and it would be exactly right for folks Khabarovsk krai in the Russian Far East [birthplace of Plushenko]...

But I suspect Ayara was looking for St. Petersburg and Moscow time....
