Lucky you! The schedule is kind of hard for him with JO coming up the week after. Not that he needs to be in top form at JO or anything.
TV Asahi went to see him recently and posted this photo. He must be training hard. His face has gotten a lot thinner since a month ago.

He is very narrow in this pic so it could be some distortion. Not that I know for sure.
Patrick has gotten a lot better about traveling and by now he's also familiar with Japan. He will have a good time there, eating ramen and catching up with his Japanese friends. Hope he will see Kozuka.

Yes, you are right and it would be a treat for fans in Japan to see him before the GPs start and October will be a perfect season for ramen

And Jeremy being 4 time National Champion and 2014 Olympic Bronze medalist sounds about as successful as Patrick who is the superstar and the most accomplished Man in recent figure skating history.

I love reading about an athlete's mind and experiences, their take on life and wisdom gained. I know a lot more about what to expect from them than just reading about their new skills and programs.
Patrick shows maturity and is taking on responsibilities, for himself, for young skaters, and for the sport itself.

I can't choose my favorite excerpt to share. I just enjoyed the whole thing. Thanks for posting it here. No doubt the haters will find something from what he says to be upset about, but I think it's a great outlook. Patrick now knows what HE wants to do in skating and is not worried about what Yuzu or Javi or Nam or Skater X are doing. It's like he's saying, "I'm going to do what I'm going to do and if you like it, fine, and if you don't, fine." Personally, I'm very excited to see what's in store for him. Our amazing Patrick ride continues!!!

It's in French... and I won't translate the whole article nor the interview itself... but here are a few things
1) Patrick's French is awesome... he improves it every year... I keep wondering how he has the time to better such a difficult language...
2) Patrick worked a lot on his weight... he wanted to get back to 2011 weight... so he lots about 8 pounds... you can totally see it in his face... he is very thin. He says that being a bit lighter helps in the quality of his jumps.
3) Most of the interview is about his return to competition and how he sees things.... he says that his jumps are there... but he is not after medals or winning... he is after emotion, pleasing the audience and overall performance in skating... of course, if he does all this and the jumps are there, he'd be happy with winning but he says that if he had retired, being 3 times WC and having two silvers from the Olympic games, he would have still been proud of his career... so anything next is added bonus.
4)He says that he is willing to help the next generation of skaters... offering advice if people seek for it.. (i think here the interviewer was just not asking a question that was making much sense... and Patrick answered very well... saying for instance that if Nam were to ask him for advice, he would help out but Nam is surrounded by the best coaches already... which I thought was extremely classy... as he didn't brush off the interviewer and on top of that he provided openness and respect to his fellow competitor.
I thought, once again, that Patrick showed a lot of class and composure . He is really becoming a great champion, not only on the ice but off ice as well.

I think being on the ice with Patrick, especially the first time for a young skater, must be awesome and inspiring, as per Nam.

Just thought I'd put my first post on this thread now I'm branching out into the Fanfest threads. Patrick's return to competition was a major factor in my decision to take the plunge and go to a World Championship so I'm more excited than usual about the upcoming season. For such an amazing skater, I'm mystified by the amount of flak he seems to have to take so hopefully he can deliver this season and silence some of those haters!
