Patrick Chan

I can't describe how much I was astonished when I saw his skating in front of my eyes in a show for the first time. I was almost mumbling "Is he a masician or something? " The other one whose skating I was amazed with as much as I do to Patric was Takahiko Kozuka.

Welcome, Eric! Thanks for sharing your on-site experience with us! When did you see Patrick skate in person?

gangnam style ;)

Hahaha, that might be a group number for the exhibition gala...

Today's "Where in the world is Patrick Chan?":

He was spotted in Nagoya, jogging in the cold wind. So glad he is so recognizable there!

And some more photos from Worlds practice:

Thank you everyone for the thumbs up on my post. :) It was a pleasure to meet and talk to Patrick in the last few times, the impresssions that I got from him is he is a very polite, happy, considerate, honest young man. Not a person with those nasty words, negative comments from the people who don't know him. :(

I meant to upload these pictures to share with everyone for a long time but I need help to do it. I'm glad you enjoy them. :)

As far as I know, everybody who knows or even just meets him describes him as a very polite, happy, considerate, honest young man.

And just about every single person who has watched him skate in person is amazed and finally "gets" his skating if they have not adequately appreciated it before.

Patrick Chan is a real deal.

the pictures were really nice. I have never met Patrick but have watched many interviews with him, especially in French... He is a very open athlete, considerate, polite and honest as you say. I think some people just cannot find flaws in this beautiful human being so they invent them :)

THANKS again for sharing these moments with us!!!!

After reading an interview with him, and then watching a video of the same interview, you get such a different interpretation of his words! That's why it's important for the reporter to include his expression or a description of how he said something, otherwise it gets taken out of context. Alas, they often just quote him verbatim so you only read the words and don't know how he said it.

For example, in this article I was glad that Lori Ewing described how he said his quote:

"Of course I'm way too sour right now to watch it," Chan said, laughing.

If she hadn't written that he was laughing, then people would have thought he was being an arrogant poor sport who couldn't stand that somebody else won. I think comments like these without the emotional context have led to many misunderstandings in the past.

Here's another example of a quote that could make him seem like he disrespects his competitors:

"Watch a man do four quads, what else is there? Nothing. that's it. That's all there is to say," Chan said after practice Monday. "It doesn't take a genius to realize that, I think it's pretty obvious.

I watched the video, and he actually said the above as nicely and graciously as he could. One could almost read in his expression that what he meant was, "no disrespect to Boyang Jin, but..."

But without any context or clarification, he is easily misinterpreted. I think he's gotten better with interviews, but he still has room for improvement in this area.

Thank you, Calica. For today's latest "Where in the world is Patrick Chan?" report (please pardon me if I misinterpreted anything):

Patrick had a fantastic show in Nagoya! Fans weren't sure how the turnout would be, since the show was on a Tuesday night, but he got lots of love and maybe even increased his fans.

He also increased his fans on Japanese internet?

Patrick surprised the audience by jumping out of the exit door? during a dimmed period between performances:

He freaked people out, but they loved it and he had them screaming:

And he was wearing a NEW COSTUME for Mack the Knife! People wondered if he had bought it at Uniqlo, but it isn't sold in stores:

Patrick Mack the Knife best costumes, lighting struck back side looked at gold leaf like texture.

In the end, it was a success:

I would like to understand all the japanese tweets :scratch2:

we need interspectator as official translator

If you look, at the bottom of each tweet should be a small gray link that says "View translation". It's not the best translator in the world, but it gives you an idea of what they are saying.

Also, you can copy and paste the tweet into Google Translate to get it in English or Italian.

Of course, it would be best to have Interspectator or a fluent person translating.

In Japan, 'Vest' is spelled the same as 'Best' No difference between the B and V sounds when pronounced.
They are talking about Patricks VEST and saying that when the light hits it, it looks like it's gold-leaf. Wondering where he got it from because Uniqulo does not sell a vest like that!

Also, they loved the new costume, and his skating is healing.

Awesome, Interspectator! I hope to see a picture of his best vest soon. So nice to read that his skating was healing to the audience. Yay!
