Patrick Chan

Patrick the World Champ will always be Mrs. Chan's Little Patrick Boy. What sweet love.

Thanks, Happylife and Vivley, for letting us in on the adorableness.

Patrick's Cantonese has a really heavy accent. It's pretty endearing. I thought his Cantonese would be better, not in terms of accent, but I excepted better flow. The pauses were weird. Like he was reading off of something.

He was reading the Chinese version of the same script he read in English.

eta. Well, he wasn't actually reading Chinese but was repeating what was instructed, which is probably a bit too formal compared to his usually casual and somewhat limited Cantonese.

Ooh, thank you, m0001 and VB! This reminds me that I need to create a page on my site with links to all the audio and video where Patrick speaks languages other than English.

Of course, I appreciate the two words of very accurate Mandarin that he spoke at 4CC. Plus, the funny thing is that during the interview he acted like he understood what the translator was saying.

Hope everyone here is well. I'm working on another interview with the fan who held up that banner at 4CC.

As always, ideas or suggestions for the fan site are welcome.

They nicknamed their junior skaters after Alaine and Patrick. :-)

Thanks vivley. Patrick also speaks a little bit Mandarin in this video:

Thanks, m0001! I added that video to my "Multilingual Patrick" page here:

All, if I missed any audio or video of Patrick speaking other languages, please let me know and I'll add it to the page. Thanks!

Thanks, VB! I added that video to the page. I'm gathering video interviews of Patrick and the interview that he did with Chinese TV will be included.

You're welcome, Calica. It's also nice to see how he has changed through the years. :-)

Hi all, I purchased another image for my site. You can see it on my new "Motivators" page here:

http://bit.ly/pcmotiv

Also ironically, back in February I had tweeted this to Patrick:

“A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.” --Tim Cahill

And now he will be skating to music called "A Journey." ;)

1) nice way to spend money... good choice :) I command you on your dedication and hardwork. I love the site.

2) i loved reading the quotes. This page is very inspiring. I needed to read some of these words tonight . So thank you. There's an accent missing in the French quote... It's Petit à petit, l'oiseau fait son nid. I know... I am always picking on details ;) haha but so are we all , Patrick fans, and that's why we love him so much, since he cares about the finest detail and move us with his refined skating.

Again, thousand thanks for the wonderful website which is bookmarked for me :) :luv17:

Thanks, 4everchan! Glad the words helped. Your feedback is much appreciated. I made the change, and also remembered to put that the quote by Pelé was suggested by Happylife.

Eric Radford liked the Tim Cahill quote about "A journey..." :)

Tried to put the new photo in the slider but couldn't, because the text is too light and not readable when I do that, lol. Oh well, I'll just have to find another one with a darker background. ;)

I became a Patrick fan in October 2015. I went on Twitter to encourage him in January 2016.

this is super interesting. As you know, some of us have followed the boy when he was a boy ;) I started to follow him prior to the Vancouver games... and then, became a huge fan in 2011 of course, when he first won worlds.... this meant that we went through the goods and evils ;) in other words, Patrick would win but many people were not happy... etc... then we lived through the 2014 games... which was sad.... just incredibly sad. I was proud of Patrick for his two silvers but I felt that the team competition was a lost cause from the start anyways, and well, I was terribly disappointed that Patrick lost his dream gold in the singles, to someone who had fallen as well. It was a few points difference too...I think that perhaps, the build up with his stellar performance at TEB just before the games may have caused more disappointment..

However, here is where I am coming from : you became a fan of Patrick at Skate Canada 2015 ? With his comeback stellar winning skate. Can you tell us more about it ? What made you a fan now? Where you not following figure skating before or just casually? Were you preferring other skaters (don't worry, it's allowed!!!! LOL)

One sure thing : be relieved you didn't have to suffer the anti Patrick mob on GS... apparently, they have quieted down a lot.... Even myself, I haven't really suffered too much despite my username.... People have calmed down after seeing his gorgeous Chopin this year....

See :) I reversed the roles... we are interviewing you here :)

PS I did read what you wrote about yourself and the Elegy... I am just wondering if you would care to share more with us here ;)
