Plushenko's Return

Thanks everybody for the latest info.! :)

All this talk made me go over to Zhenya's site to find out all the latest happenings, including a poster's detailed report (click here: http://evgeni-plushenko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=191&start=460 ). From said poster's report I note first & foremost Evgeni and Mr. Mishin's hospitality and kindness by letting the fan (whom travelled to Panin Memorial to see him skate) watch Evgeni train and skate his programs.

She got to see him in action at work, including his explosive temper when something doesn't work, his joy when it does, lol, and his passionate footwork. His training of the quad, triples, triple-triples, et al. Ahhh, how lucky to see it all in person. Not just the result, but the process. His pushing himself, constantly testing his limits, seeing how far he can go, pure dedication and determination. All traits that has made him the legend that he is today.

While I'm in the dressing room five minutes before I come out, I'm breaking my gloves down, I'm pushing the leather to the back of my gloves, so my knuckle could pierce through. When I come out I have supreme confidence. I'm scared to death. I'm afraid. I'm afraid of everything. I'm afraid of losing. I'm afraid of being humiliated. But I'm confident. The closer I get to the ring the more confident I get. The closer, the more confident. The closer the more confident I get. All during training I ve been afraid of this man. I think this man might be capable of beating me. I've dreamed of him beating me. For that I've always stayed afraid of him. The closer I get to the ring the more confident I get. Once I'm in the ring I'm a god. No one could beat me. I walk around the ring but I never take my eyes off my opponent. Even if he's ready and pumping, and can't wait to get his hands on me. I keep my eyes on him. I keep my eyes on him. Then once I see a chink in his armor, boom, one of his eyes may move, and then I know I have him. Then once he comes to the center of the ring he looks at me with his piercing look as if he's not afraid. But he already made that mistake when he looked down for that one tenth of a second. I know I have him. He'll fight hard for the first two or three rounds, but I know I broke his spirit. During the fight I'm supremely confident. I'm making him miss and I'm countering. I'm hitting him to the body; I'm punching him real hard. And I'm punching him, and I'm punching him, and I know he's gonna take my punches. He goes down, he's out. I'm victorious. Mike Tyson, greatest fighter that ever lived.

:points:GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ZHENYA!!!!!:points:

If he can do a program of those beautiful towering triples and some interesting choreography, I could care less about the quad. He's already given us enough of those. I'm actually eager to see him again and I've never been much of a fan. (Give me Yagudin or give me death, was my attitude.)

1994 Olympic Champion Alexei Urmanov says Evgeni Plushenko will have no rival at Russian Nationals, which takes place in 3 days time: http://www.allsportinfo.ru/index.php?id=55428

Basically, he says as soon as Zhenya steps on the ice everybody will see that his level of skating is unequalled, he's on an entirely different plane, unrivalled. Maybe not at his best, but even that is better than anybody else. Because as of now, there is nobody else in Russia that is at his level says Urmanov.

Also, he says Zhenya is totally prepared and in good shape, otherwise never in his life would Evgeni participate in a competition if he was not.

:rock:GET HIM PLUSHENKO!!!!

It's fun to see you in your glory, Nadine. Did you ever dream Plush would really compete again after Vancouver? I really liked his exhibition at Olympics, Je Suis Malade.

Yippy! Hurray! We want commentary and videos and GO PLUSHY!!!!

Thanks, skateluvr, it was honestly Evgeni that made me come back to skating on the forums during the 2009/10 season. I left on & off after COP was introduced, and left all together after the 2006 Olympics. But when I heard Zhenya was coming back in 2009 I came back as well. And, yes, I had no doubt he would be back after Vancouver. In fact at the time I said he came back too late, he would need to come back two years earlier for Sochi, and here he is.

There is no such thing as coincidence in life, rather it's all fate. It was written in the stars long ago, and if God wants Evgeni to be at Russian Nationals, et al, then he will be. I have faith, and hope.

By the way, I just discovered this phenomenal site of Evgeni's, thanks to ciocio's post on the other page: http://evgeni-plushenko.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=3&sid=cd02fc3cbafaecb166475e21cb7a68c6 I love it, have been checking there every day now to see all the latest happenings. THEY KNOW ALL! :D

Urmanov is right, Plushy would never compete if he doesn´t feel prepared. I wouln´t be surprised if he lands some quads too.

A bit scary how some “fans” might react to his programs. I can see some of them have already prepared stones and nails to crucify him no matter what he will do on ice.
Anyway it’s good to see him back in full power. He is great athlete

There's no reason to do that. He has been crucified a long time ago already.

For those wondering, it's actually a reasonable, clear-eyed article - a first for Beverly Smith (presuming you don't blame her for the picture).

I read it waiting for some digs or something and they didn't come! Like on her reports of his last season but maybe it's because he doesn't have scores yet.

I gotta say, good for him. Plushy obviously loves to skate and to complete, and he will compete at Russian Nationals yet again, more than Evan can say this year (and I'm a huge Evan fan). I hope he skates well.

When is Plushenko going to decide if he will skate at the European Championships?

He is not in full power yet. He has had a couple of surgeries, and he had to go through rehabs. Not much time for training. Considering that, and he is 29 year old, he appears almost superhuman, landing quads and triple axels at the Russian nationals. I am in awe.

Good on Evgeni and also the lovely and wonderful Ksenia Makarova who seems all but forgotten between Leonova, Tukt, and Sotnikova. Why is that?

Now I watched both with the help of youtube I think his programs(both but especially the Lp) are rough. I understand it is first time skated but they seem unfinished to me and I m not even bothering comparing right now to any of the top men. But I kept the positive, new spins, sequence of salcow that I love and wearing colors,I find his guts to keep skating and not blowing the beginning of his season supernatural and inspiring. While watching I was thinking how he doesnt show his stress. I enjoyed this comeback much more than the previous cause he looks happy while skating. I ve missed skaters looking happy and relaxed. The marks were unreal but at this point I dont really care. I hope his team will do what they did with Arthur and enhance choreo and transitions.
People think that skaters fans are seeing all rose but I believe many fans critisize harder than normal viewers cause they know all his programs competitive or not. When he had debuted the Vancouver programs he had some steps and hands__bad habits- that he was brininging from his long absence and shows and it annoyed the hell of me, minor stuff but me knowing all his programs by heart it looked like he would never get rid of them, and he managed to surprise me this weekend, he cut them off. Thats a huge step for me, to surprise a fan :)

I think Evgeni's sp and lp were better than I expected given his surgeries, his age. He is still far better than any Russian rival. Incredible really.
