Protocols

People loves scandal and those things.
Like the case of Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan.
Even Kristi Yamaguchi won the gold could not bring attention to the sport more than the kerrigan issue.:p

that's it... someone break out their baseball bat.... ;)

but then there was the scandal in 2002 with the crooked judging... and what interest their was prior to the olys died almost overnight

No wonder we see skaters in the kiss and cry with blank looks on their faces, even after their scores have come up, waiting for someone to tell them whether they won or lost.

Very likely all these deductions were warranted under the rules. Still, it is death to a specator sport when the audience can’t tell who won or why, and especially if they see someone clearly outskate someone else but not win because of a maze of unintelligible regulations apparently interpreted by officials’ whims.

The confusion is similar to audience members back in the day when compulsory figures were part of the competition.

and it's still argued today that the figures should not have been gotten rid of from a skating perspective but that it did help with numbers of viewers (both live and tv)
