Random Confessions

P.S. Speaking as a guy, yes, definitely too much information for the delicate male disposition. Here is what I wrote when Papa Mishin was giving us too many details as to why Liza withdrew from the 2015 Bavarian Open.

Ah yes, and I see my still-very-relevant response further down:

Why not? We have to put up with bloke problems often enough. See: the mentions of guys' junk in the Four Continents threads. Do we really need to know how you go about making sure all that stays in place? Nope, but it'll get talked about anyway. But ohhhh noooooo we can't talk about ladies' problems that cause genuine physical issues and introduce several nasty complications into the competition factor. (But guys will keep using it as a joke if we're legit peeved about something.)

Ahem. Sorry.

;)

I did actually laugh when I read your response again, remembering those conversations on here that you were referring to at the start. Boys, I'm glad that they don't seem to happen any more, because they were often getting inappropriate for a family forum.

By the way, don't worry, I'm not one of those guys that blames everything on "the time of the month". ;) :)

I know that if somebody is curt with me, it's probably my fault...

European History teacher: "Oh, there was an American who had Swiss parents who competed for Switzerland... and she did better than all of the American girls! We sucked."

Me: "NO SHE DIDN'T." :dev2:

Thanks. :)

A non-FS one: my family and some friends go out for lunch, and end up sitting a table over from some people with an 150 pound pet snake.

Me: "That snake weighs more than me!"

My friend: "It also weighs more than me."

Me: "At least... wait, Annabelle, do you and your friend combined weigh more than the snake?"

Little sister (Annabelle): "...no."

Me: "Wow..."

Ugh. People who are fans of sports teams that has had success in recent years in the championships (Spurs, Golden State Warriors, Patriots, Penguins, etc) I think should calm down some when it comes to how well the team is doing now. Some sports teams have very little success in championships or none at all.

Ugh...and sometimes I feel like an exorcism needs to be done on DC sports. None of the big 4 sports teams have made it to the conference finals since 1998. The only other cities that have teams currently in the NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL that haven't made the conference finals since 1998 or earlier is Winnipeg (Well the newest incarnation of the Jets was in like 2011...but still it's been a few seasons), San Diego, and Cincinnati. I did an hour and a half of research back in October of last year and came to the conclusion. I thought it was going to be more cities. But I was wrong. Oh and Las Vegas doesn't count cause the Golden Knights are in their inaugural season.

I'm a Golden State Warriors fan. :slink:

Text exchange after GSW vs. OKC game with friend who is a Thunder fan.

Him: This game is dumbs
Me: I guess I can understand why OKC is mad...
Him: Because Golden State (I though he wrote Golden Skate, LOL) has a bunch of dirty players trying to start stuff and complain about calls probably.
Me: ...

I still love my GS team, even if everyone thinks they are mean players.

I have no problem that you're a GSW fan. I'm saying more in terms of worrying like are we going to win another title. Obviously if you're a fan of that team that just won, you're going to think, "I want another one." But understand the agony of teams that haven't won any championships (Like the Washington Capitals (I feel like I should do meditation on them though they'll never do it and I have zero training)).

Lol. I know what game you're talking about.

I honestly don't worry -- but then again I've been in figure skating fan mode, so it's taken off the edge...I'm sure when skating season is over, I'll be in fully worry about my GS Warriors in NBA Playoffs mode.

I believe I was fated to stop into Random Confessions tonight.

Don't worry, CKH, your time will come:agree: We had *never* won a Super Bowl. Ever. And here we are.

And for those of you who want to adapt it, the new Eagles chant (sung to the tune of "Oh my darling Clememtine")

"They don't like us
They don't like us
They don't like us
We don't care
We're from Philly, effing Philly,
They don't like us, we don't care".

Any misunderstood fan base can adapt;)

Truth. But Philly has had success in going to the conference finals in recent history. I know I saw memes of the Eagles and now they can die. I admit it's great when I see videos of fans of sports teams react to the 1st title a team has won, or the 1st in MANY MANY years. DC has no luck in going the conference finals since 1998.

Glad to be back 'home', but very tired and jet-lagged (it's doing a job on me): , and :dbana: all at once.

Well, :hap10: for DC teams as long as it’s not against Philadelphia. ;) I have fond memories of traveling down 95 to the brand new Landover Arena to see the Flyers play the brand new Caps. And the tough times make it sweeter when you finally do win.:)

Let's hope that I'm alive when it happens lol. And hope everyone is still alive when their favorite team wins a title for the first time ever or for the first time in a VERY long time.

This is random, but it's more "news" than "confessions". I thought it would be silly to start a whole thread for this, but I gotta share.
I saw one of my nieces at Nationals (she's like, 8) and asked if she liked the skating. "Yeah", she said. Next thing you know, she's at group lessons. Tonight on Facebook, her mom told me that she wants private lessons now.
Looks like I might get to be a skate auntie! I'm excited!

Much better to be a skating auntie than a skating mother. You can skip all the 5 am practices and sequin-sewing marathons and go right to going to competitions and beaming with pride. Good show!

Me: "I have Medevedva's gala music stuck in my head..."

My friend: "Evgenia Medvedeva? I've spoken to her before!"

Me: "What?!"

My friend: "It wasn't an actual conversation, but... you know Kim Cheremsky, who skates for... where does she skate for again?"

Me: "Azerbaijan?"

My friend: "Yeah! She's the daughter of an epee coach at my club, and I showed up, and she was facetiming her Russian friend, and I asked her who that was, and she said that it was her Russian friend who was really good at figure skating! So I said priviyet really loudly in the background of the screen, and she (Medvedeva) said hello, and I told her that she was really good at figure skating and she said that she knew."

Me: :jaw:

My friend: "Yuzuru Hanyu is really cute, isn't he?"
