Random Confessions

I was really hoping that during my 4 days backpacking in the wilderness that Jason would have announced his LP music...

Figure skating fans have interesting priorities!

I just realised yesterday that my house move will take place on the weekend of the US Classic and promptly swore the air blue and told past!karne she was an idiot for not going for a Monday move-in.

Well, it's good news that you have some place to move into. That can be a real issue in the town where I live.

Good for you NNF! You're on a roll! Keep it going! :yahoo:

Thank you:ghug:
Next year, I want to save and go to GP:). Milan helped me understand that this is something that brings me satisfaction and joy, I swore to go to competitions, smaller or bigger, at least twice a year:). I nearly cancelled the trip due to these falling hair (I know, may sound dumb, but it continues from April and I don't know what else should I check or try...), but got myself in check.

Down to feeding one fox now... the female. Little ones grown and gone to new grounds. She has a magnificent red coat... we walked up to the fence with Bailen, one of the dogs, and she regarded us calmly and with interest. Bailen, too, was calm and interested in her... will continue to supplement food into winter months if she stays...

I told my mom, "Don't even breathe audibly!" when Alexandra Trusova was about to start her FS. :o:

There's no fox in my country :( Can you take some pictures of them?

I just bought tickets to Skate America. My mom is flying in from the midwest to go with me. I'm really excited to both get to show her more of the pacific northwest and go to my first international competition (she is also a lifelong skating fan and has not been to a major comp either).

I went roller skating today...or tried to.

I can ice skate pretty OK - if I do say so myself - but I'm terrible at roller skating...I felt so unsteady on my feet!

I confess this saddens me, because it's kinda easier to roller skate here in Australia than ice skate, but no.

^^ one of my earliest memories is my father hauling out his old roller skates and skating all over the house while we (my sister and I) laughed in delight... but I am terrible at it too; never got the knack. Dad had a dangerous lean..

I can ice skate way more than okay, and if you can roller skate without holding the boards or a friend's hand, you're better at it than I am. My brain just keeps screaming, "THERE'S SOMETHING DREADFULLY WRONG WITH YOUR BLADES!" and won't let me move without holding something.

I'm the opposite, although I haven't roller skated in years, I was quite good and could manage single jumps, could never spin too well, skating on ice however, while I could just skate, doing what I could on roller skates turned into a very painful disaster lol :slink:

I bought hexagon-shaped glasses because of Wenjing Sui and my friends think they're weird

When we were on holidays last year, we decided that, rather than have our final meal early and then travel to the town where the airport was located, we would travel first and then have our meal. So, we found this café near to where we parked, and ate there. We were the only customers, and had a good conversation with the staff.

This year, we went back to the same place, and things had changed. For a start, rather than having 1 café occupying 2 units, there were now 2 smaller cafés side by side. Only one was open, and there were quite a few customers. And EVERYBODY in there (staff and customers) was chatting away to each other... in Russian! (Yes, even the local woman who was serving the food was speaking Russian).

Anyway, by the time we were finished, all the other customers had left. The local woman who was doing the serving had gone to the shop next door to get some change, so it was the cook that we paid, and said goodbye to.

It was obvious that the cook was Russian, so when she came to say goodbye to me, I said "spasibo". And her face just lit up, and she started talking away to me in Russian. And because "spasibo" is about the extent of my Russian, I hadn't a clue what she was saying! So I just smiled. It was so embarrassing! :o:

To further add to the embarrassment, I then left my sunglasses behind, and she came running after me. But, I didn't make the same mistake of thanking her in Russian. This time, I said "Oh, thank you so much!"

I really need to learn more Russian...

Haha, that happens to me all the time, only I'm actually ethnically Russian (and look rather stereotypical, heels, makeup, etc.), so sometimes they'll just pick me out of a crowd in the Eastern European market or something and start chatting away without me saying anything first. I'll tell them that I hardly speak any Russian, and I think sometimes they don't believe me or think I must speak more than I realize.

I'm not at all surprised that she ran after you to give your sunglasses back. If you ever go to Russia (or a Russian neighbourhood), don't be surprised if random strangers not only notice if you get lost, but offer to walk you where you need to go. I've read that a lot of people find that strange or even scary, but... it's just so hard to resist... It's like radar that won't stop beeping until you're sure the lost person can get where they need to go.

I have come to the conclusion that Oona and Gage would be great names for the protagonists of a steampunk novel.

Contrasted with their plain surname, the siblings each have a very unforgettably unusual cool name. :) Their fancy hydro-blading can be mentioned in the SF novel if you write one. :)
