First Christmas pie finished - four layers: cheesecake, poppy seed, fried apples with orange jelly and hazelnut sponge. Decor with dark choco and almond flakes:)

Omg I'm drooling--my mom usually cooks and we have little feast for Christmas but she isn't coming home this year...

We don't even set up Christmas tree this year. It's kinda sad when I think that the older I get, the less festive everything gets.

It's finally holiday and I can draw to my heart's content but I feel like I'm back to square one--to loathing my art...

Recipe, please? That sounds amazing. I have a pretty stellar cheesecake recipe but it wouldn’t work as a layer.

Oh, you're torturing us again. It's nice to share -- especially at Christmas!

I am so sorry your mom won't be with you:ghug:

As for Christmas tree... After few years of setting up a small arrangement of fresh twigs, my mom demanded an actual tree. And I had to make it happen:laugh:

As for pie, here is photo: https://mobile.twitter.com/NoNameFace10/status/1076960755323416576, I will post a photo of everything we did later after Christmas Eve dinner, including this one's inside showing layers:) :) :)

I'm fine, thank you for the hug! :luv17:
Oh, that looks yum... Fried apple is uncommon to me, I want to try...

The nougat thingy sounds especially delicious--I just love soft desserts with something crunchy in it!

I wish you guys nice Christmas Eve! :ghug:

This is going to be a controversial confession haha: I dislike barszcz and I don't even eat it on Christmas Eve :p I've also never eaten carp in my life. (These are two of the traditional Christmas Eve dishes in Poland.)

Merry Christmas everybody!🎄

Just realised that my inability to set up my new satellite receiver (OK, so I've had it nearly a year, so it is hardly "new" any more!) means that I am going to miss the final days of my favourite music channel before it closes down on New Year's Eve.

Admittedly, the programme quality has deteriorated massively in recent years. But, after 25 years on air, it is still a real travesty to see what was an iconic channel go. But, it's a sign of the times. Music channels are closing down hand over fist because we can get everything on YouTube.

So, I have been looking for things to watch from back in the day so as to reminisce.

Every year from 1995 to 2011, the channel organised the Comet Awards. There is one performance from the 2009 Comets that stands out for me. But, I have posted links to that video so many times that you are probably getting fed up with it!

So, for a change, here is my favourite German rock band performing at the 2007 Comet Awards:

LaFee - "Heul Doch"
  1. Longer video with the band being introduced and then leaving stage afterwards, but picture quality isn't great and audio is out of sync.
  2. Shorter video where the quality is perfect, but it is just the performance itself and the band are playing for a good while before the footage fades in.

And while I was there, I found a whole concert from them, which was also organised by the channel:

LaFee - "Erst Recht Mit "

How many music channels would be able to do things like these nowadays?! I don’t think any. Like, it is so long since I’ve seen a new Unplugged session that I wonder if MTV even does them any more!

Although the channel was great for German music, I do hope that they do like their (rubbish in comparison) British version and go out to this song from the Spice Girls:

" Forever"

Merry Christmas!

Why. Can't. I reach through the screen and grab that delicious-looking Polish food!? I don't celebrate Christmas until the 7th of January, but I think I'll have fish and pierogi and borsch for dinner anyway! (Although it will be frozen fish and frozen pierogi and borsch from a jar. I have the unfortunate circumstance of having inherited my Eastern European ancestors' taste in food but not their ability to cook.)

Now you've made me want to rummage through my parents' ice box to see if they have any Mrs. T's Pierogies.

Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating!
