Random Confessions

i know  you were the only one who didn't

Way to let a guy down gently! :(

Anyway, since I am writing to you now anyway, I will add in something that I have been preparing for you.

Last week, I saw a couple of quiz questions that instantly made me think of you. So, I thought I would set them to you as a challenge.

So, firstly, a multiple choice question from "The Chase":

The name of which colour is the French for "raw"?

  1. Beige
  2. Taupe
  3. Ecru

Secondly, an alphebetical anagram question from "Pointless":

Shades Of Green

  1. EILOV
  2. AACDOOV
  3. ACDELNO
  4. ADEELMR
  5. ADEJ

The first part of the challenge is to answer the questions.

The second part is to describe to me what the colours are, because I've never even heard tell of some of them, let alone be able to distinguish them from each other!

Good luck!

I got very excited yesterday when I started watching a film, "The Late George Apley" (1947), because the very first thing we saw was my favourite Irish actress, Peggy Cummins, sneaking out of the house carrying a pair of ice skates!

(Please be aware that the film has been dubbed into Spanish in this video. I couldn't find a copy in English).

Unfortunately, we do not get to see Peggy skating. There is a scene later on in the film where she and her boyfriend (played by Charles Russell) are at frozen lake that people are skating on. But, neither of them are skating in the scene.

Before they are shown, though, the camera does follow a little girl (played by Cordelia Campbell) who looks very comfortable on the ice:

It was actually a very funny film. So, if you can find a copy in English, I would definitely recommend it.

So I dream I was playing an informal game of hockey last night at an outdoor rink. I was playing with (or against nor sure) Jason Brown and Nathan Chen in a large field of players. Earlier this year I dreamt I was watching Team Mishin and Team Tut training and recognized Liza Tuktamysheva skating in a black track suit and Alina Zagitova touching my shoulder to pass to pass to the rink or something like that. I need a break from skating fandom or I am just going crazy. o_O:p

Whenever my husband has dinner ready for the two of us, I'm likely to call out "just a sec!" and finish something online to do with figure skating.

More Random Still: My two grown daughters have each been married twice, once divorced and once for good. (As have I.) You could say I showed them the way, because all six husbands like to do the cooking for the family! :bsplit: We women keep the kitchens sparkling!✨✨ 🌟✨🌟✨⚡

ETA: Correction. Five of the six husbands like to cook, every day that is. My ex the sole exception :)

I'm sad because I popped by the aquarium shop hoping to finally get my new Betta fish (my former one died in April and there were issues with my tank's pH, then there was too much nitrate...), but my tank water still has problems! There's too much phosphate in it, but I can't even figure out how that can be! I've literally cleaned the entire tank out. 😢 I'll never get my fish at this rate.

Opening line of a story I may or may not write: "They will later say that she hid in Nathan Chen's suitcase."

(the universe where the USSR is still around and the Winter Olympics never got moved, a story)

Oooh, do write it! I'd like to read that story. :)

Taking this thread right back to the start!

I'm a dude and I love (and am watching) Legally Blonde :hopelessness:

Snap.

I finally just watched it, and I loved it!

It may have taken 5 years for me to spot it being shown on the TV, but it was definitely worth the wait!

Unfortunately, programmes on that channel were running 15 minutes behind schedule on Sunday because a football match being shown earlier in the day over-ran. So, the recording didn't get the last 10 minutes. But, fortunately, some kind soul had uploaded a copy of the film to a Russian social networking site. OK, so it had Turkish subtitles which made it difficult to read the notes at the end. But, I got the gist of them.

The sequel is being shown this Sunday night. And I can't wait to watch it. So, hopefully the horse racing being shown earlier in the day won't over-run.

Thank you for the recommendation, @Sam-Skwantch. I would never have even thought of watching it otherwise. But now I am so glad I did.

I'm so mad about the GPF/JGPF being cancelled. So so so so so so unfair to these skaters.
Hey, if it helps ease the pain for you, a friend of mine suggested to me back when the status of the Grand Prix Final was uncertain that if it was canceled, I should make my own Grand Prix Final. Like, watching the famous programs of skaters that would've (or should've) made the final and choosing your own winner. I'm already thinking about creating my own colorful schedule, lol.

Post a thread for your fav. discipline with a poll and we can all vote for three. That is a great idea!
I've never made a thread of my own on this site before, much less a poll! I love the men the most, should I include people who some think should have gone to the Grand Prix Final (i.e. Shun Sato) as well? I mean, I know it could turn into a popularity contest, but it might cheer up some fans. 😂

I was also thinking about maybe doing some kind of Zoom or Twitch livestream for a friend of mine to just show those famous programs and determine a winner together. I've also never done that before, and I'm wondering if I should make a stream for the skating community in general, not just my friend... I'll definitely have to test it out somehow, though...

What am I doing...

I'll have to change my method of alphabetizing dvd boxes :palmf:
By legally assuming (and loving) the first two with Reese, I do not endorse the third

Yes, that is a real contrast in films sitting side-by-side. But, that's the sort of thing that can arise when you put things in alphabetical order.

But, there's nothing wrong with storing things in alphabetical order. I do that too with my DVD's and CD's!!!

The worst of it is that my CD shelving unit has grooves to slot the CD cases in between. And they are a curse, because if you get a new CD, then you have to take all the later CD's out individually, and put them back in a slot later individually. And it takes forever to do! :drama: Especially if the artist is early in the alphabet!

Here's an example. I currently have 2 Alizée CD's ("Mes Courants Électriques" and "Psychédélices"). I have long wanted to add some more, but the thought of having to move 230 later CD's one by one is really putting me off.

I actually counted out a few days ago, if you took out the grooves, you would actually be able to fit 9 more CD's onto each shelf. And when you consider that there are 12 shelves, that is 108 extra CD's. As it is, I have 50 CD's in an overflow unit. If I got rid of the grooves, I could fit them all into my main unit and still have space to spare for 58 more!

But, I don't think it would be possible to remove the grooves. 😞

It's a pity that these furniture designers don't think of the implications for those of us that like to have things organised...

P.S. Thank you for the warning that the third "Legally Blonde" film is not good. I'll bear that in mind if it is shown next Sunday.
