Retirements Going Into 2015-16 Season

Stephen Carriere has retired as well, to finish college (at Boston College) and to move into coaching/choreography.

Very disappointing how it ended with that awful injury right before Nationals, as he had some great programs and seemed to be putting it together again (I personally believed he earned the bronze at skate Canada but that's neither here nor there). Wish him the best!

I know it was posted a while back in this thread, but I'm still very sad to hear about Samantha Cesario's retirement. I loved her Carmen and I was really looking forward to watching her grow as a skater. I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors!

The release notes that Jeremy graduated today with a BA in Kinesiology from Simon Frazier University in Burnaby, B.C. and that he wants to remain involved in skating either as a coach or choreographer! Congrats Jeremy and best wishes on your future endeavors!

Not surprised about Christina, especially since she did not get any GP assignments and we had speculated she was done at the end of last season. Wish her best of luck as she finishes Harvard and in the future!
 
I wish Christina all the best. She's obviously a very bright girl, and I'm sure she'll succeed brilliantly with school and her continued skating involvement.

I was a big Chrisina fan also. She did a lot. But, I don't think she ever reached her potential. The last 2 seasons were disappointing. The programs just didn't seem to work. Maybe too hard, too soon. Who knows. Anyway, she will be missed. Sounds like she's on to pretty great things.

was fresh in my mind. And even though I haven't seen the third Hobbit movie yet - I'm hanging out for the EE - I guessed it must be the end song (which I have confirmed, by checking Youtube, that it is.))

ETA - Indeed, now I've watched the video twice, I'm feeling quite teary-eyed as well. In a good way. Thanks to all the skaters, and the beautiful moments they gave us!

Reading between the lines, it sounds like they had a recent training injury? It says DeeDee is recovering from a concussion.

Frankly, it's about time. I think going to Harvard without being a competitive skater would be challenging enough. But going to Harvard and trying to maintain your skating skills pretty impossible. Christina always had consistency problems anyway. Beautiful girl though.

Considering she's in Harvard on major scholarships, she'll likely become brilliant in whatever field she chooses. Who else placed fifth at US nationals and then did something brilliant with her life despite not making the Olympic team? Vera Wang, 5th in 1968. ;) I have high hopes for Christina and her future, even outside of skating. Too bad she never did Olympics or Worlds (GPF was her big moment), she was a beautifully expressive skater.

Just curious: What major scholarships are you referring to?
Has Christina discussed them openly on social media and/or when interviewed? Or are you a friend of hers who is privy to inside information??

(I am a Christina fan who agrees that she has a brilliant future outside of skating.)
