Sasha: A Case of Mao fear?

1. She should be looking at Kwan's 1998-2002 journey and Slute's 2002-2006 journey. But this is someone without even a world championship. If anything she should want that as well as an OGM.

2. Both MK and IS got bronze on their second try for Gold after winning silver the previous Games. If you want it TOO bad, you're probably not going to succeed even if you have multiple opportunities. I think SC will find she has the same problem that MK and IS had at their Olympics....
These comparisons should encourage Sasha to give it a shot. Michelle's journey, 1998-2002, brought her three world championships and a succession of programs that forever define her body of work.

Irina won two world championships, broke Sonia Henie's and Surya Bonaly's all-time record by winning her seventh European championship, set the record (since edged out by Asada) for highest point total in the CoP, and gave the most memorable performance of her career at the Moscow worlds.

As for the Olympics, both were competitive, both were among the favorites, both took their shot. You can't ask for anything more in sports.

Apparently there are high hopes from Sasha fans. There is no question of Movin On. Personally I think that era which includes Kwan and Sluteskaya is over. The score was Kwan - silver, bronze, and withdraw; Sluteskaya - 0,silver and bronze; Cohen - 0, silver. The candidates Cohen will face in 2010 should she decide to go for a third time, will have all that flexibility as well as their huge jummping skills.

Angela Lansbury never won an Oscar (and she does feel disappointed) but does that make her a second rate actress? Angela never even won a Tony.

In Figure Skating, many fans believe that the only way to prove you are a winner is to win the Oly Gold like Sarah Hughes did whom we have to believe, from that rationality, was the better skater than the above three mentioned.

Winning a medal is a personal goal. It is not a fan must.

I wouldn't say that Rachael Flatt is lacking in jumps. At U.S. Nationals she landed 3Lz+3T in both the long and short programs (IMHO the downgrade in the short was an error on the part of the technical specialist -- it was better than Kimmie's, which got full credit). She also has a 3F/3T, but she did not put it in her programs last season.

She was injured in the summer and couldn't compete in the junior Grand Prix, but in two fairly important competitions over the summer she skated one good and one outstanding performance. (She also won in juniors in the International Cup Challenge at the Hague, but against weaker competition. It was her consolation prize for not being selected for junior worlds.)

She's 14. With another year of maturity I don't see any reason why she shouldn't be in the mix next year.

Flatt was the only Sr lady at US nationals to do 3Lutz-3Toe in the LP.

Sasha's not scared of anyone - she'll just run them over during warm up ;)

Kidding aside - I love watching her skate regardless of whether she wins or not.
