Sasha's "new" ending pose

I am not seeing how everyone can be saying she "really saved that ending!" I thought it looked like an obvious error, she landed in a very ugly position and I don't think she "saved" anything. If any other skater had done what she did everyone would be pointing out such clear mistake, but somehow because its Sasha, its okay? It was a mistake. More proof that even in a silly, exhibition-style competition she cannot keep it all together.

I sorta can't believe that there is such a long debate over whether Sasha fell. She clearly did! Her spin goes all wobbly and then she falls. Watch the tape if you don't believe it. She did cover it well, but it was a fall, no doubt.

her spin did not go "all wobbly" right before she fell. she traveled a bit changing edges in the sit spin during the beginning of those 2 spin combos... and that's what happened. she probably fell off kilter when she changed positions in her final Yspin when she took her left arm and extended it out. a much harder version to an already difficult position to maintain.

What is bitter about calling a mistake a mistake? She screwed up and it was obvious and its just sad that her legions of fans can't admit that it was an unsightly error. Why would I react any differently if she fell at Nats than when she fell at a Cheesefest? A fall is a fall. And a fall is a mistake.

At a competition, she wouldn't have fooled the judges. Furthermore, because that is an illegal move, she would have gotten a 1.0 deduction.

I usually just lurk here and on other figure skating boards but I have a question. What is the big deal about "crotch shots"? Spirals like Sasha's and others are now being critized for being such a thing and I don't undetand why. Spirals are just splits and are ways to show flexibility. As for Sasha's ending I don't see why the audience would be "disgusted" (from another board) just because that part of her body was facing them. She was wearing clothes so it's not as if she flashed them and it's not like they were looking in that specific area (at least I hope not). Okay I'm done rambling.

Anyway, accident or not, it still fit in with her performance and the music. She looked like she was having fun and she sparkled. I hope she skates like that at Nationals and then hopefully Olympics.

The best ending was when Sale and Pelletier fell out of their closing pose in the short program at Salt Lake City. The theme was, Jamie was teaching a clutzy David to tango -- he got into the role perfectly! Lori Nicole is a genius!

It's the old Vaudeville maxim -- make it look like part of the act. But shouldn't she have stabbed herself first and then fallen down?

Count me in amongst those who believe the ending pose was deliberate and stunning. I have seen Sasha falling before. In those instances, gravity took over, and she had little control on her landing position. Not here. The landing position was choreographed in a continuous and consistent design of the rest of the program. It was truly magnificent and highly dramatic.

OK, but she still fell. And her spin started travelling right before she fell. I noticed it when I watched it live and thought, Sasha's spin is a little off. And then, SPLAT!

I couldn't agree more, DancinDiva03! Any skater who fell at the Marshall's Cheezefest automatically looked ugly and, as at least this this thread's expert, should get called out about it by you!

Now warm-up, get psyched, and get out there and complain about any and all skaters who fell. Go for it, DancinDiva03! I'm rootin' for at least a 10-page thread on those three!

P.S. Jiminy Crickets, OF COURSE, Sasha fell! And to take off from where Joe started, she also followed the first rule of performance in the case of mistakes: Cover, cover, cover.

Seriously, I can't believe we have a six-page thread over whether an ending in an exhibition skate was or was not a mistake. It's not like there was anything good to discuss, such as Matt Savoie's gloriously skated and choreographed program and who the choreographer was. I say it looked like David Wilson's work.
