Serafima Sakhanovich

Our brave Sima is trying really, really, REALLY hard to congratulate her fans and viewer with a Happy New Year. If you don't believe how hard it is, just watch:

Through all this she actually managed to congratulate as with a beginning of a new school year a couple of times :)

Isnt she just perfect for the role?
And, did you see the video I posted? She is too adorable :)

The whole production looks really fun plus it's nice seeing Sima skate! Thanks for sharing.

Anyone catch her live on Instagram today? I wish I could understand Russian. Shout out to all the skaters who take time to connect with fans....even if it just involves watching them eat grapes in the dark for 45 minutes

Serafima mentioned in Eteri's interview (5/5)

Simonenko's interview with Tutberidze `Projecting the upbringing on the sport results discipline'
Serafima Sakhanovich: Unfortunately her family could not live in 2 cities at once - mom in Moscow, dad in St. Petersburg. Besides, there were some other obstacles: Sima and her mom rented an unfortunate flat in Moscow - they were robbed several times. Once the thieves got into their flat in the middle of the night when Sima was asleep, her mom heard the thief, he jumped out of the window and in the morning they found a knife under the window. Another time they were robbed of everything - they even had to ask the FSF to give Sima a 2nd set of the equipment - she had no cloths for the competition. Then her father had a complicated job situation in St. Peterburg so her mother had to come back and she couldn't leave Sima alone here. It was all very complicated. Sima didn't want to leave, she was crying. Now when we meet at the competitions she always says hello.

Sima's disadvetures in Moscow are terrible. I felt so sad while reading what she went through:cry:

Poor girl, many people misunderstood her and thought she was spoiled. Who could have known that in reality her family was in such tough situation.

Me too. It gives you an explanation why her form dropped till the end of the season: possibly not so much puberty, but the mental stress she had to deal with. :sad21:

By the way does anyone know what she is up these days? I looked at her instagram account and it looks like she stayed in Russia while some other students of Rukavitsin went to a training camp in the U.S.? I hope she is not injured? :(

I always thought her problems weren't just growing related. She started that infamous 2014-2015 season so strong and then she had more and more issues while not physically changing that much. Then everything went downhill, poor Sima, it's very difficult when nothing is working they way you would like, to find the strength to rebuild yourself (especially in such a competitive field). I have no idea what she's up to now, but whatever her future holds she will be forever a favourite of mine, even as a little girl she had something magical!

At Rukavitsin often so, not all group goes - money is only on members of the national team, the others at own expense.

Thank you for the info. Taking into account that her housing problems in Moscow were mostly attributed to lack of financial resources, after posting here it also came to my mind that it might well be the case that she couldn’t participate in the camp due to financial reasons. Not a good reason, not a good start for the new season, but better than injury.

Though even if financing might be a problem for Sima right now, I hope she'll get a new FP. I'm sure Olga Glinka can create a very loveable program for her. :)

I imagine there will be at least one more training camp in summer which she can hopefully join - last year they went to Sweden. I don't know her situation, but she just went on a holiday to Turkey recently with her family (I presume), for whatever it's worth.
