Hi Jerry,

I'll try to answer, but some will probably have better explanation.

1. Shomita came from Yulia lipnitskaya, she called him Shomita once when she was commentating on a competition. I think it's because Shoma is small? I could be wrong on this as I can't remember if Yulia came with Shomita or something else.

No-no-no, Lipnitskaya called him Shomachka!!!
The suffix '-ochk' (its not '-achk' actually, it's just the way Russians pronounce the unaccented vowel 'o') is used to form diminutives, so it's basically the same as 'Shomita' in Spanish, on which see Arriba's post above.

I'm still laughing at how they call Itsuki Tree-kun, and just recently I saw a crazy Google Translate that called him Mr. Tree!

Arriba, I give :points: to Itsuki-kun being translated to Mr. Tree, very typical google-logic translation: Itsuki= tree; kun= male (Mr.), thus Itsuki-kun= Mr. Tree

Dr H, thank you for Russian lesson! (OOT) I have guessed the spelling between Russian and Japanese has some differences when I read the online translations from Russian to English of your essays, cox some vowels of skaters kept "being omitted" in English translations.

Ahhhhhh Sota got the TBD spot at NHK trophy. Shoma and Sota will be in the same competition. I’m so excited!!! My two boys finally reunite!!!

Thank you, Sayaka-chan.:agree:
I've never seen before.

I have some questions, everyone.

Why one of Shoma's nicknames is Shomita?
Why this place is called dead banana club?
And what is your favorite Shoma's number?

1. SHOMITA- started by Arriba, as she explained

2. Dead banana club- started by this photo https://www.instagram.com/p/BlReBHKj_nf/ (2nd picture), from Shoma's 20th birthday Kateigaho photo shoot, released last December 2017. Everyone was passing out in the comments and using the dead banana emoji :dbana:, so it became a joke that everyone in this fanfest was turning into a dead banana. Thus, the dead banana club was born.

3. Lots! For his senior comps, Legends from TCC 2016, Loco from 2016 GPF or 2017 Worlds. LiL from 2017 Worlds is also close to my heart.

I'm happy Sota got the TBD spot at NHK! What a fun competition!

Thank you, everyone.
I'm very happy I got replies.

3. My personal favourite numbers are (beware of long lists) GPF 16 Loco, World 17 Lil, Sk Canada 17 Winter, GPF 15 Turandot, 4CC 18 Turandot, JGPF 14 Don Juan DeMarco, TCC 16 Legend, MOI 13 Tanguera ex, MOI 12 bad boy good man ex.

Thanks, gftn. I agree with you definitely, but I haven't seen MOI 13 Tanguera. I must check it later.

Arriba627, Hronop, Danibellerika, Latremu;
Thank you for comment on Shomita.
It's very interesting for me.
I'm glad he is loved not only in Japan.

I could understand "dead banana club" easily.
I'm always dead banana when I see him.

I couldn't help it, had to save that picture the moment I saw it again. That Kateigaho picture was only the beginning of a long, continuing saga of KAKKOII!! dead banana-inducing photos!

Shoma used to make his previous comp programs into exhibition ones. I always found the exhibition versions more interesting- maybe because by that time, he'd imbibed the music so much and added his own little touches to it, plus he can do more choreo and is no longer restricted by the requirements of the competition. For me, Blessed Spirits was more beautiful in exhibition (gpf 2014 gala and junior worlds 2015 gala) than it was in competition the year before (still beautiful even then, though). Beethoven violin sonata no. 3 was lovely already during 2014-15 (and will forever be the program which holds the junior SP world record for the previous scoring system!), but it was even better when he did it as an exhibition program in the 2015-16 season, especially during MOI. Of course, Tanguera is a different story- I love every version of it. Bad Boy, Good Man was more on point at the end of the year (WTT 2013) than in galas in the earlier part of the season. With Shoma, his programs are like wine- generally, they get better with age.

We're at page 1100 now? [emoji28] Happy page 1100!

Ahhhh, I had no idea that Shomachka was Yulia's creation! (I always figured it came from a Russian fan or something.) That's so sweet. Is there video of her calling him that?
