Hi Arriba! I'm so happy for that. I love yr posts, specially the ones about Shoma. As his big fan I take the opportunity to thank you, by the way thank everyone, for keeping his thread so joyful to read. Thank you Arriba! Thank you everyone!
Um grande abraço (huge hug) from Brasil to all of you! :thank:

Also, I wish Shoma has a great SkAm participation regardless of the results. :cheer: Go Shoma go!!!!!!! :cheer:

PS: Arriba: I hope you have a wonderful SkAm!!!!

Wow! I had no idea you were in Brazil. Awesome! Pairs and Ladies SP tonight were awesome. Can't wait to see Shoma skate his SP tomorrow.:yes2:

A few clean 4T today from Shoma but no clean 4F. He was getting dizzy from all of his spins I think towards the end of practice!:palmf: He had better energy today, as did the other competitors. Seemed like they were all testing the ice out yesterday. Men's practice is at 7 am tomorrow. Oh dear! :drama: He ran through his FS today, skipping parts of it here and there. Got a nice applause when he finished...Sorry can't write more. Heading back to rink for Ladies and Pairs SP in a bit.

Thank you Arriba! we've been looking forward to skate america and did count down, and actually you have skate america now.

SP was over today. it seems he got a big applause from audience. Aside from the landings of jumps, he did well today although he was not totally on.

From your practice report, his FS seems to capture some people's heart? Cant wait FP tomorrow!

Tried to put a few of Shoma's SP practice videos on my Twitter acct. Grrr! They're either in there twice or not at all. Don't really have time to mess with it now. He did a full run through in costume. Looked good.

Thanks for your work! He had the problem with combo since practice. even if it is in first half, 4t3t might be a burden for him at present.

Even with the mistakes, I enjoyed Shoma's SP very much. It was a GREAT start to this season! I think it is a sign that he is maturing very nicely as a performer. Hopefully, he will skate well enough to win tomorrow.

I hope no one here is bothered by this constructive criticism, but I do hope that Shoma works on his body position in his jump landings. A couple of them looked a tad scary to me.

He is working on them, has worked on them, and already has plans to work on his jumps with Alex again in December. In fact after the competition, Ice Network discussed how he has corrected his jumps but was nervous today and so went back to some of his (bad) old habits. I think some of it was just first big competition jitters. In general, the men's competition was a little ragged. Still VERY enjoyable though, and the FS is going to be a barn burner. Felt very sorry for Boyang. I think he bombed all of his jumps. Like they say, ice is slippery. Men's practice session is at 7 am tomorrow and I'm trying to decide if I can do it again. It makes for a long day.

I think 4T3T should be changed back to 4T2T for now. He definitely was not on today but still had a good skate. He got great applause from the audience (from his Japanese and American fans).

Ok, I think this just really happened! :hpull: Went over to Glacier Ice Arena and saw Shoma practice for about 25 minutes! His mom and brother were there too. Shook his hand and wished him good luck and he said thank you! He was working on bits and pieces of both the short and long programs. Then he worked on spins :dance2: and his 3 jump combination of 3A, 1Lo, 3F. All of a sudden, I realized I was sitting right by his mother when he started talking to her!

Arriba meeting Shoma makes me so happy for some reason. How cool that you were able to see him practice. Was Mrs. Bambi the lady we saw on the video before? Did she seem like a tiger mom? And thanks for sharing your photos and videos (haven't watched the videos yet). Shoma looks intense when he competes but I hear from people who know him that he’s always smiling, laughing, energetic and generally a very happy skater during practices.
I recently read a magazine interview with Shoma where he was asked about his training in Chicago during the summer and sure enough, he said that he wants to go back again. Hopefully he’ll be able to stay longer next time.

What are the chances that I would actually see him practice?! It was such a shock, and as I was driving over there I was thinking how crazy I was to be driving all that way for nothing! That's a good question about if Mrs. Bambi was the lady in the video. I found that video again and looked - it was the one where they were giving Shoma the Ice Dogs jersey. I can't quite tell if it was her. She does look VERY young though. Hard to know if she's a tiger mom, but in just that short encounter, I felt like she was really a no-nonsense kind of person!...I think Shoma seems like a happy person. Even at the Skate America practices when he is probably tired, his demeanor seems very pleasant and he does seem happy...In the photo I took of Shoma at Glacier, I wish Itsuki hadn't put his head down. I think he purposely did that so he wouldn't be seen in the photo! He's a cute kid...Any time I have seen Shoma on camera talking about his Chicago experiences, he always smiles. Of course all I understand is "Chicago" and "training".

My other happy thing was I met Nobu today! I won't write all the details again, because I put them in his Fan Fest. Another really nice person! :luv17:

BTW, I tried to PM you a few days ago just to see how you were doing and it said your mail box was full. So good to "see" you!

Oops, I just deleted some of the stuff in my mail box!

So glad you were able to see Nobu too. I was going to tell you to look out for him when I saw this, but I got too lazy to log in and then soon forgot about it.

I think it was Machiko Yamada who said that Shoma is scared of his mom so he tried to get Machiko to scold his mom when he was little
I'm surprised that Itsuki went to Skate America as well. I don't think it's the school holidays yet but it must be a good experience for him too.

First time I saw this new FS, and it was incredible. What a skate. He's grown so much again in half a year, wow. Congrats with the oh-so-deserved win tonight! And thanks for giving me tears in my eyes.

Congrats to Shoma! He was in the zone today, gorgeous skating! I think this is the
first time Shoma did 3 quads in his FS. :yahoo:
