news clip on Oct.24 Again, im glad he recovered his confidence which he lost at worlds.
his interview around the middle (with a blue shirt) after WCC this April is new? (sorry, i dont follow all his videos.).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fOUIt5vO-c
his flip is much improved from WCC! he is the guy who proceeds at his own pace without caring other people's criticizms. Keep it up, shoma!

I went over to the SA men's thread and, my goodness, not a fun place. I am a huge Yuzu fan, he is my favourite, but I have no problem recognizing that great long by Shoma. He is a huge threat to Yuzu, no question... it frightens me! You can tell he has been performing it all summer, tweaking it with Stephane... it is totally ready to compete against anyone. Yuzu is playing catch up right now from those months off but this weekend will give a better idea of where he is in comparison. If someone were to tell me Shoma would win the gpf, I would not be surprised one bit. How lucky Japan is to have both of these young guys right now. I am a fan of them both.

Same here. At this point in time, my greatest wish would be for the both of them to get World and Olympic gold medals. I have no preference over either anymore. Japan is indeed very lucky, and so are us fans. :yahoo:

I haven't gone to the SA Men thread, but I heard about people saying he shouldn't have had higher PCS than Brown (lol), nothing much related to Yuzu, except that there're both rivals for top spot (which is true).
At least both skaters get along very well (I stopped counting the number of times they praised each other) and are happy in each other company (especially Shoma, who's slowly (but surely) coming out of his shell). I can only hope that Shoma isn't peaking too soon.

i find this news clip focusing on their comments to each other. yuzu admires shoma about his original artistry and jump techniques which he is mastering recently and sharply. further, shoma's interview seems to be the one right before leaving for Cicago. his shirt is so cute.

at the last part , announcer says they gave him a cake since they heard he loves sweets. he thanked them and say, "i have to run!"

Which costume do people like best this season?

For me, by far, I prefer the FS one. I love the way the colour graduates and the way the back is somewhat translucent. The embellishment also is a lovely colour. The SP one is a bit too sofa like for my taste! Lol Lots of crushed velvet like embellishment.

A little bit late: PARABÉNS (congrats) Shoma!!!

Much respect for this talented young man who works so hard and whose skating brings me so much joy!

Also, congratulations to Jason and Adam!

TheGrandSophy: I agree with you. Shoma's FS costume is a beauty.

I also prefer fs costume. Basically I love his costumes. Designed very well and made in detail. Further, they firmly are based on the theme, like last year's fp. not weird but at the same time not boring. I suppose the strong color, not pale matches him.

TTM, PARABÉNS is congrats in your language? I'll remember it!

Yes - sticking the tongue out seems to be the new thing this year! :confused2:

Yeah, he did it at the end of his skate too, didn't he. I try not to compare him to Dai too often 'cos he is his own man, not a copy. However, I couldn't help but remember this.

Endearing from both of them. :luv17:

oh, this is already shared? so nice news clip by local TV of his hometown. their views are warm. Shoma is like their child since they've watched over his growth.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVMGtx3hZ14

it shows his training on summer in cicago. the kind of works that he'd never done helped him a lot with stamina. he got confidence.
In abroad, he longs for wide variety types of quinesene available in japan. further, he loves the japanese type bath (deep bath tab, this is ordinary type of bath in japanese house, so lovely a video by a canadian girl living in japan https://youtu.be/A6hqHq7MLsc) and have some complaint about shower only. but he stands all since what's important to him now is figure skating and his trainings overseas are really good for his skate. his current problem is English! (nice scene with Max and his coach!)

ETA: it is another recent video clip of the similar type, focused on his stamina training

I love those old videos of Shoma. I still love that one where he's bouncing on the trampoline! I'm sure he was super energetic when he was a kid!...When I see some of that training in Chicago they did, it makes me laugh. It looks more like torture than training! And he wants to go back for more. :laugh2: :hslap: Alex is probably a slave driver. Seems to have brought some good results.

What is quinesene? I tried to find the definition and couldn't. I would give anything to have a bathroom like that! What a great video -- especially the heater for the tub. Wow! Sure do appreciate these interesting things that you post

I noticed Shoma stuck his tongue out when he competed at Lombardia too. Oh well, it's better than the fist pump like last year. I always feel like he's very different from Uncle Dai -- they're both wonderful but so different.

Omg! This is so cute! Team Sharah for 2018! Sorry Danny!

... ETA: I happened to meet Tarah and Danny at Worlds. They are both SO nice! Tarah is the sweetest thing, and she is so tiny in person you can hardly believe it. I'm amazed that she can lift Shoma!

Tarah has a secret weapon ;) :

Shoma and she are adorable together :ghug:. The video is 36 seconds long -- a must-watch cuteness overload.

And I always love Danny :luv17:.

Ha! Ha! Oh no, does Shoma kun have a secret desire to compete in pairs! Maybe he and Danny can skate together, because I can't see him throwing anyone! I absolutely love Danny and that smile that doesn't quit! He has a special place in my heart because he is from the Chicago area. :ghug:

Oh my gosh - Tarah is posting some great stuff! https://pic.twitter.com/O5ZjOju9AY

As for quinesene, i misstyped. cuisine is correct!

Further, what does a slave driver mean? :drama:

He realized the importance of stamina turning senior last year. He’s begun to tackle this program and the training in US is really helpful to him. The training offered there is different from that in japan. So hard, but it works well. He says the settlement of his problem about stamina helps him a lot. Executing his FS layout needs a lot of stamina. Further, this time, he got a huge result about what he’s done. I’m he tries to have more chance to train in abroad.

Eta:and thanks for your comments about japanese bath. i thought any explanation about it would be better to understand the reason why he misses the bath in abroad.
further, official practice at SC begins! you've been there or are leaving for? have a nice trip!

He says at Skate america he achieved what he was able to do, but still his performances in both sp and fp werent perfect. The preparation for the competition and conditioning went well. So, he tries to heighten the bar in his daily practices.

Cup of Russia is held soon, and the short period till COR is crucial. He tries to get better performance than skate america which will lead to GPF and do his best to respond to fans’ expectation. He thanks his fans for many supports.

This interview right after FS is really nice.:)
http://news.tbs.co.jp/newseye/tbs_newseye2899357.html

His analysis about his character.
“i’m just a person who hates to lose very much. The words which i dont want to be said are “you were able to do that before (but you aren’t now).” More than that, i dont want to lose to myself.”

He gets attention mostly about his jumps, but he thinks another
“i want to tackle expression more than jumps. Im aiming for the skater who is praised “Who knows how he can show such an expression!”

Just renewed my Eurosport subscription and like to add how much the german Eurosport commenters adore Shoma (Winnie_20 style). I am critical of these guys as they are often very biased, but this Skate America they've been mostly right. (And not only because I agree with them, they almost predicted the outcome of the Ladies competition) And Sigi Heinrich is the first commenter whom I've listened to who adores the music of Shomas LP, even the vocals. (That's one thing I definitely don't agree with, ha) He said something like "Every Argentinian Tango lover's heart must beat crazily after watching that gorgeous interpretation of Shoma Uno's tango" For the german Eurosport guys there was no question who was best in this competition and they couldn't hold themselves back with fanboying, looking forward to the future because there are many years of Shoma's skating still to come. Some unnecessary comments about wanting to give Shoma a pacifier, but I categorize that under "grandfatherly affection". Shoma could be the grandson after all. "He looks like a kid, but his skating is definitely mature." They weren't that enthusiastic about some others and critizised the overscoring of certain other skaters as well. Very interesting.

He is on the right track! I wish there could be less obsession with the jumps, but I don't see that changing...What is the expression he always says? Make takanai? (pardon my spelling)

Funny thing happened when I came through Customs In Toronto. The agent asked me the purpose of my visit. When I said figure skating, she said ,"Oh you're the first American who has told me that. Everyone else has been Japanese!" Hmm, I wonder whom they want to see!?
