You don't have to be French (I know you are not) to enjoy the sights.
I could have sworn that I read that you had been there before. Confused. lol

COC men could go anyway. Both Boyang and Javi are at the top of my list. We will see this weekend.

Back to the grudge for me (work).

Shoma returns!

What do you guys think about the medal design? I'm not the biggest fan of the huge glass thing! But who cares , because Shoma won SKATE CANADA! Repeat, once more:

Shoma
won
Skate Canada!!!

Yes, let's party until France! :hap10::hb::cheer:

I think the medals are just ok. I remember seeing the pictures of the podium I was like "?? Where are the medals?" and I finally saw it. I think its better if there's more carvings cuz this design reminds me of the Albertville medals, or add more gold to the edge.

I think it's still a good idea to arrive at France earlier, maybe not as early as one week like this time, to accustom to the environment, as long as he keeps regular training. If he adopts a similar strategy like Lombardia I'm sure he could have nice results. (Hope he will enjoy the french cuisine!)

Well, the medals were better than these !!

In the last 10 competitions he has made it to the top 3 and won 6 of them. I didn't even really realize it before someone mentioned it. That's amazing! Party indeed!!!! :yay:

Shoma arrived in HND Tokyo airport, then ate a rice ball & 唐揚 Karaage fried chicken like lol. maybe then again fly to Nagoya I guess.

Why is he flying to/from Tokyo? I thought the Nagoya airport was quite well connected.

I think he will go early. Not only was he sweating profusely, I have never seen him panting like that in the K & C. Also wondered if he didn't have the energy to do his cantilever without the hand on the ice...There are a few things like this that lead me to believe that he does have an injury that might be affecting his stamina. It's not taking him out of commission, but it's draining him (my speculation only). And he smiled during the FS which we now know means he's tired! But why oh why is he so cute???!!! :o: :hap10:

It seemed that quite a few guys were sweating like crazy. I was wondering if it was exceptionally warm there or something. Arriba, did you notice the sweating with the other guys live? (What a weird question....) The thought of injury is too sad so I choose to live in denial :coffee:

Well, the Marseille GPF takes the cake for the worst organized event of the century, so we cannot really compare. There was no banquet, no flags...the medals were plastic thingies...weird. What I find so strange about the Skate Canada medals is that you can hardly see what medal it is (Gold, Silver, Bronze) because only the holding at the top is coloured. Huh...

I can't remember if this has been posted before but if anyone's interested in having a laugh on the expense of Marseille GPF, check this.

WHAT? There was no banquet? I didn't realise it...and I thought the plastic medals were already bad enough...Must be a boring event without the banquet

yes his local airport is Nagoya, well connected, & I guess it's a short transition for Tokyo's media. he was so hungry, maybe slept well in the airplane...And all dishes took away during his sleep? MAYBE lmao.

I'm a polar bear and love the cold so am usually a bad one to ask about temperatures. Looking at it objectively though, the arena was probably a little bit warmer than usual. Most of the time I didn't wear my jacket and was very comfortable wearing a sweatshirt...I wouldn't be too alarmed about an injury. I am just hoping he's taking things a little bit easy. He wasn't killing himself in practices, and I saw it as a good thing that he took the 4S out. Could be just a nagging thing. Hopefully his team and trainer are managing things.

I hope he does not go to France early..

This is just my speculation. Shoma arrived 1 week early for SC. We had no news of him training during that time. You know how sometimes
a Federation will hire out a ice rink for their team to train before a big competition. As far as we know Team Japan did not do that.
Shoma was nowhere to be found and I think he was enjoying himself with his family touring around Canada. Which means he probably did
not do daily run throughs of his programs for almost 1 week. I believe this could affect his stamina and why he was sweating
profusely after his FS. Not to mention jumping the quads, a possible ankle injury and new boots which he himself said he was breaking in.

This is hard to say (whether he was training or not), but it would have been very easy for him to practice. They love their ice sports in Canada, and I think there are a lot of rinks. His manager could set all that up for him very easily. Our little magician enjoys doing his disappearing act though!

Hello everyone,

I have been lurking for a while and finally decided to join. I just wanted to say this is my favorite message board in the forum. Shoma is great and so are all of his fans! I got to see him live at Skate Canada and he was amazing. As other people mentioned he was also very nice to the fans. Both he and Jason kept delaying getting off the ice for the victory lap so fans could say hello and get photos.

Welcome Gingkos to Shoma's FF and to GS. I am glad you decided to come out of Lurkedom. Our motto is the more the merrier!:)

Welcome! You have come to a good place!...Oh, I saw Sho and Jason talking to everyone! So jealous! I was to the right of the judges, so there was a walk way between us and the ice. Boo hoo! :sad4: He's so friendly though, isn't he? And he must have bowed at least 100 times! I could see him allowing people to take selfies. It seems to me that he enjoys that type of interaction with the fans. He was like a ray of sunshine. And isn't that costume amazing?!

Both of his costumes are gorgeous. I tried to get good photos of him and his costume when he was skating but he was too fast! I can't believe he cut the collar of the costume. The beading still looks so good. I would not have noticed it wasn't designed that way. He really looks like a prince!
