I cried, so happy for him. How do I start expressing my feelings for him--I love him so much. That was such a soulful performance, he smiled while doing the cantilever, made me so happy. Thank you so much, Shoma Uno. So honored to be able to watch your performance! Congratulations!!!!

Congrats Shoma! I think he looked very shell-shocked??!! Skating last and being able to shake off a fall in the opening quad and fight until the end! Thank you Shoma!

Congrat Shoma !!! Olympic Silver Medalist!!!

Shoma on NHK (rough translation)
. Even though I fell on the first jump, I am glad I could land the others.
. Looking at people skating before me, I could somewhat understand what I need to do.
. When I fell on the first jump, I laughed on it (inside) and thought I should just give my best (from then on)
. (About this Olympic being his first) I don’t really have any special feeling about it .

Oh dear me this was intense. I have not spoken much about prediction because I am too good at jinxing. But now everything is done and I am nothing but overjoyed and relieved. I have tried to leave many comments throughout yesterday and today but I am just too scared so I didn't even type them out. Since yesterday I have actually prepared myself for anything, especially the worst like ending up in 4th, not that I don't believe in SHoma, but because I don't want to be sad or disappointed IN CASE anything happened had i hoped for too much (which im happy nothing big happened).

I actually predicted him to get bronze, i.e. to stay where he is at the short program. But it's Silver. Silver. SILVER!!!!!! I am speechless. OMEDETOU SHOMA-SAMA!!!!!

He said he actually got more relaxed after the fall, like "Well, can't win now, just gotta try my best..."

Left out lots of coughing and water drinking.

@zanadude oh and that. He just looked throughoutly confused from practice till giving interview.

Edit because I don’t want to double post. Just realized that he has had silver on all big competitions. Gold this World or next season woulc be the goal to fight for.

Just watched Shoma's interview with Japanese media, adding a few points to the above:
- when asked how he is feeling now that his is the Olympic silver medalist, he said, um...I still don't feel it's real, I don't have any special feeling towards the Olympics (just like another competition), but even though the wording may sound bad, it also mean I don't have any special pressure

- he said he was quite calm so he can hear clearly when the crowd was cheering him on

-he was more nervous in the short; in the long, he knew that if he skated cleanly he would be first, so after the fall on the loop, he thought, oh well! and laughed :)

Shoma! Congrats on your silver medal in your first Olympics!!! :luv17:

Congratulations Shoma! You may not always be the cleanest but boy are you a tough competitor. Many skaters allow themselves to crumble after making one or a few mistakes, but Shoma isnt one of those skaters. I love how he's able to move on to the next element as if the mistakes never happened. That is the mindset of a champion.

It seems like Japanese are tweeting about their favourite Shoma’s off-ice moment

There are more but I just love that even at this Olympics he was still absolutely normal and just had this did-not-know-what-he-was-doing most of the time.

Edit: I scroll out the tag and they are all exploding over Shoma’s cuteness when drinking water in the middle of the NHK interview and not remembering that the actual medal ceremony will be later.

I should probably rewatch his FS again but I am buried too deep in this post-competition fluff.
