I am so happy for his coach as well I don't know why.

Because it's her medal as well? She's been there for him since he started out, travelled with him, looked out for him, really is a second mother to Shoma. She is a big part of Shoma's success, because he doesn't have to think about anything but skating. She choreographs programs that are perfect for Shoma (I still think Mihoko is an amazing choreographer, and I think she can come up with more brilliance, too) and makes sure everything runs smoothly. I felt incredibly bad for her when the time deduction at GPF happened and it, well, it cost Shoma the GPF title. Perhaps it was better that way, but I'm sure Fluffy was devastated. She has a healing soothing presence. Is there in good times and in bad times. I've never seen her cross with him, like almost every other coach sometimes appears. She's my heroine. May they never part.

Just stopping by to say how very happy I am for Shoma! He is an amazing competitor. So great that at his first Olympics he was able to come through with that performance skating last - bravo Shoma! Loved his reaction in knc, love his coach’s relaxed attitude at the boards even at this highest of all stakes competition. Unlike many I didn’t hate the yellow costume but this one was really beautiful. Congratulations Shoma!

I've been crying all day. Well done!

I totally understand. It stills feels unreal. He is the Olympic Silver medalist. Like "wwhhhhhhaaaatttt????" I still cannot believe, I'm still letting in sink in. And I finally know and feel what the phrase means. I think Shomachka himself still hasn't realized it yet lol he still being cool as usual. Oh dear dear dear me, he won an OLYMPIC SILVER MEDAL!!!!! :eeking::yahoo::clap::dance3::dbana::dbana::dbana:

I always see them as a package. Today, when she saw the score and hugged Shoma hiding her face behind his back, I am sure she was crying. It was really touching.

Yes I do agree that she is a talent choreographer, count me in as her fan. ;)

Congratulations to our Shoma! And to think this journey is still just in its beginning stages! His fighting spirit, his nonchalance, his confusion, his ability to never give up even if he gets off to a rough start, his cuteness. I am impressed! He is everything today – a Prince, Shomajesty, Mr. Kakkoii – you name it! He is one tough competitor who knows how to bring it when it counts.

   Bowing down to Fluffy. More than ever, this competition shows that Shoma has the perfect coach by his side – perfect for him! :thank: Thank you Fluffy for everything you do. And a big thanks to Coach Yamada too. Like she said “I raised him!” – yes, you did, and with tender loving care. From a little boy to a wonderful young man you can be proud of. This medal belongs to both of you too…I felt pretty nervous during his skate but refused to be nervous in the preceding days. Now though, I am sure I have a neighbor who wonders why (late at night) someone was screaming “Come on, perfect triple axel!!!!!!”

Congratulations Olympic Silver Medalist!!!! Oh, how I love the sound of those words! It’s just beginning to sink in now. Thank you for all your hard work and perseverance Shoma!

To think that this is kind of only the beginning of Shoma's journey still, is unbelievable. He has so much more to give, and we have so much more to look forward to. Shoma is boss!

And I was thinking about you Arriba! Glad you didn't die of a heartattack. I almost couldn't watch but somehow forced myself to. If Shoma can withhold the pressure I should also be able to. :)

Remember I was saying I was going to take my blood pressure during the long program, just for the fun of it! I actually was shocked to find my hands were s-h-a-k-I-n-g! And I just now realized after looking at the protocols -- SHOMYGOSH!!!! How in the last minute on tired legs does he do a 4T, 3 jump sequence, 3S-3T, and top it all off with a cantilever and an AMAZING final spin?! This guy is SO special. The sky is the limit for him. And he was this . . close!!!!!! Let's celebrate!!! :dance2: :hb: :party2: :cheer: :dbana: :dbana: :dbana: :dbana: :dbana:

PAGE 500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't have happened on a better day!!!! SHOMYGOSH! And now back to...lurkdom. Remember SNU! Dead Banana Club forever!:ghug:

:dbana::dbana::dbana::dbana::dbana: PAGE 500!!!!! MORE TO COME!!!! AND YES MAIKATZE DEAD BANANA CLUB FOREVER!!!:dbana::dbana::dbana::dbana::dbana:

Guys, we need a special, celebratory Dead Banana Club button! I've been looking at Speedy Buttons to see what they can do. Only problem, there are about 30 photos I'd want on it, along with (of course) a dead banana emoji!!!! :bang: :party2: :hpull:

Just waltzing in to congratulalte Shoma on his silver (better late than never)! Lovely performance, and admirable mindset; it's unbelievable how he held it together. Just finished watching his FS about an hour ago. ^ ^ His reactions after the program and after the score was announced were endearing!
Btw, does anyone know what it was he said to his coach after his skate, just before he hugged her? I felt like I should know the word by now, but didn't understand anyway, and by now I've forgotten it...

So happy for Shoma! This has to be one of my favorite Olympic men's podiums ever! :dance3:

I believe Shoma is going to Worlds, correct? He has an excellent shot of winning, depending on if Yuzuru and Javier show up. I think if Shoma is clean he would easily beat Jin and I'm skeptical if Nathan will do a free skate as well as he did at the Olympics.

It sounded like Abuneeyo, from 危ない (abunai), which literally means 'dangerous' It's kind of hard to translate the meaning in the context though. Perhaps, "That was close!" or "ah, I'm unsure (about the skate)" Maybe a japanese member can have a listen?

You are true. He said abune- It's casual way of abunai. But the nuance of it is way too much lighter than dangerous. Of course, the statement is because of his jumps. It's not at all abunee level, since he might fall. He didn't realize it was Olympics.

^^^I always feel like I want to defend him. Hopefully he is continuing with his study of English (in all his SPARE time after he finishes his gaming!) In this wonderful group hug, I'm sure that physical touch transcended all languages! (True confessions -- I cried when I saw them hug.) :sad4: :console:
