I'm sad that Shoma didn't skate his best at Worlds but he's had such a fantastic season (including his first 4CC title) with 5 golds and a silver and some amazing WR performances. I can't wait to see his "see you again" gala EX on replay later, definitely one of my favourite EX's of his! I hope he rests, recovers and enjoys his ice shows this summer. Bring on another super 2019/20 season! [emoji123]

Aww, that sounds appropriate. I do not think I saw See You Again, looking forward to it tonight. I am all set to celebrate the end of the season, save for picking up some sushi for Alina’s Grand Slam.

Also, I can’t wait to see the GP assignments, fingers crossed I can figure out some way to go see a competition where Uno skates :)

It's good to see Shoma happier and positive today! We're going to see a stronger Shoma in future :)

I watched it on a livestream early this morning. I love his spread eagles and his hand movements look more polished to me. You can see it here!

Thank you! We have it on CBC I just need to herd the cats... ahem the family to watch it together. :)

Something struck me today after the initial strangeness of not seeing Shoma amongst those in the victory laps and post competition press conference: How spoilt and priviledged I am as a fan that he had consistently been on the podium for the past three years, that I have almost taken for granted that I would see him there at every competition. Sure, I lament about his daredevilry and sometimes wish he would withdraw (when he's injured) than bulldoze through in pain, but somehow he will find ways to get up there. He was there, always, that sometimes I forget what a difficult feat it is to get on the podium in the first place.

Very weird not to see him on the podium! I'm not used to that!:luv17: I'm glad you mentioned this, because it reminded me of what a great skater he is! How many would kill to just be on the podium once? How many spend their whole skating careers coming in 6th, 7th, etc. - where that top step (or 2nd or 3rd) is so near and yet so far! We HAVE really been spoiled.

I know he was hugely disappointed, but I also wish the media wouldn't pounce on skaters immediately after they skate and their feelings are so raw. I think it takes a little time to get things in perspective and process them in your mind. I guess it makes for a better story if you interview someone right away. I'm sure he'll regroup and move forward...I got a kick out of Tara's comment on NBC after his FS. "He's one of the best top skaters in the world. He's definitely in my top 3."

lariko I'm also thinking of the GP assignments already! It's just a LITTLE early (only 3 months from now, if they do it at the usual time)

Next up is World Team Trophy, right? I'm assuming we'll see him there, although I don't know if that's for sure yet!

I was wondering about that, I even snooped through the rules to see if he can bail out if he needs to.

And,omg, my mind is playing tricks but I am seeing some extra tragic depth/edge in that exihibition skate. Wonderful as usual, but I am missing that final smile a big time.

Anyone knows if there is link to download or watch NBC and CBC comments on Shoma at worlds? Please let me know. Many many thanks. :luv17: (I know Kurt criticized Shoma's jump from time to time, even nonstop during the whole performance like 4CC free skate. Really hope commentators are nice and kind this time.)

My friend recommended to write a letter to Shoma, and I thought it was timely.
Because I was going to the Gala yesterday.
I’d like to say it’s great to be his fan.
And of course he knows that so many people in the world always love him and support him, and love his skating.
There is no borders.

I missed Great Spirit, but I moved to see See You Again in black costumes.
It was very beautiful and very touching.
The more I know him the more I love him.
Thank you Shoma for skating for Denis.
From my seat I could see his cantilever and the last spin very well.
I was a dead banana mode.:dbana:

Shoma is very hard worker.
This weekend SOI, and in April World Team Trophy.
I hope him to take a rest, and enjoy his last competition in this season.
But he thinks WTT is the first competition not the last competition.

Thanks for sharing, I want to see him live so much! I also would have liked to see Grespi but his See you again was so beautiful, it felt different this time, you could feel that he was skating it for Denis.
I really hope that all the letters and gifts from fans will make him feel better

Oh SOI is this weekend? I didn’t realise

Ah, me too! I even checked the tickets for the WTT, but I could not figure out the heads from tails as to what seats they are for, and how many days they include. Not that I was going to fly to Japan (no matter how much I want to, lol), but I need to start getting some sort of an idea if I am going to get the GP ticket. I have not went to a live event for many years, things have changed, lol.

Once you get back into them it's harder to stop going to them. When 2016 Boston rolled around, I hadn't been to a skating competition since 2003 Worlds here in DC. And then after Boston I went to Helsinki Worlds, The Olympics (though I was technically planning that since it was announced because my bff moved there), Vancouver's GPF, and the past 2 years going to ACI. I'll probably aim for this year's too because it's so close, and of course Montreal worlds, lol. So be careful, you might awaken a monster.:laugh::laugh: But I don't regret any of it, being there live is so much fun.

The one and only skating event I had been to was as a child, and that belongs in the annals of history. Peculiarly, I still remember going, so I must have been deeply impressed!

Hope you had a wonderful time jerrymouse, even though the outcome might not have been exactly what you wanted it to be. It is always exciting to see things live! I am sure his tribute to Denis was very beautiful. I never realized how over the years, he and Denis' paths probably crossed many times at competitions, so he really did know him.

Question for you, was there any Shoma merchandise for sale at the arena? And did you see any keychains like this? I want one of these! :luv17:
