In good news, he wins the free skate for the first time and gets a National Silver!
TE locked in too as well, for him.

In other news, he might have won if not for the mistake in the short and I wouldn't be surprised if that keeps him up at night at least for a week.

85 pcs for an almost error-free skate is ridiculous considering what other Federations are willing to do.
I do believe that the Olympic Silver might be possible for him too.

Issue is that the AIN athletes first big international competition of their careers, apart from the Olympic Qualifiers, will be the olympics themselves. And skating in a field with Ilia.. is not easy for the quadsters, especially.

Just checked out the results. Congrats to Shun for winning the Silver Medal and for wining the FS. This has been
a fantastic season for him, he will do Japan proud at the Olympics (pretty sure he will be selected).
Looking forward to watching the FS videos.

I don't know if it's definitely confirmed, but Shun Sato is going to skate the Free Program at the Team Event tonight! He's skating last, probably because Yuma Kagiyama placed first in the Short Program, which will be 22:34 Central European Time, that is, 7:34 am in Japan Time (as he's probably not quite adapted), at first sight it doesn't look bad:
