I think Anthony will win due to PCS. I hope he and David B get two JGP spots each. The rest of the boys were a disaster. 3-6 placements can get one spot each and then the rest of the two spots based on the best results of the leftover boys from results of their next summer event. If it wasn’t for Anthony and David, the state of our boys would be 💩

Deliberate falls at the end worry me a bit now after the deductions Ivan Shmuratko got for it last season.

Top two really should get two spots each. None of the group below them have the 180 required for this competition but I'd give the next few one spot and keep one or two spots open for someone who does well in other events to get a second spot near the end of the JGP series.

With the 2 1As and a +2A sequence, Anthony was probably going for a 3A on one of them.

Very happy for David Bondar, I was hoping that he'd be able to have a good performance here after seeing his Lake Placid free skate :)

Where were Rio Morita and last year's Junior national champ (Terry?)?
Rio aged out of Juniors. Not sure what he's doing now, he hasn't entered any competitions yet.

I think Terry has one season left, but he hasn't entered any competitions yet either.

I missed Lia Cho’s interview. So, I went back to watch it. Her interview was my favourite. She wants to improve on her skating skills to be more “like the bigger kids”. Also, she wants her jumps to be higher with better flow. Love that for her. She has the jumps. She just needs more time to skate with more power.

I am happy to hear Bondar' climbed in free, though I am still in catch up mode.

This is my first glance at what RD will look this season, and I like the vibe and in advance protest the overuse of Grease.

Came back just in time to see Anthony an hour ago. The pops:drama:. But good to see that his smoothness, his artistry and his commitment can carry him through the pops. Having the maturity to stick with that even when the jumping elements are not what you planned is a good sign.

I'm not sure that I knew he was keeping his FS, glad to see it. :hap10:

Free dance was so fun. I can totally see both N/G and V/B getting into the final. I did like V/B more, but the score difference was huuuge, so N/G gotta have higher tech. Also, was happy to see Martins/Kowalchyk climb, because I really liked their program. Again, felt like Carandyuks just missed something but are getting there. I really liked them! Bronze place team kinda started strong but then grew boring/monotonous instead of ramping up as far as I could judge.

Men sure have work to do to catch up to ice dance. Pretty disastrous FS, but fingers crossed.

I will try to watch the women tomorrow.

Just watching the men free now and really think the judges were way to hard on Bondar in regards to GOE! In regards as to whom to send to JGP events in ladies and men, I think beside those who earned spots here the rest I would assign those who have consistent and solid 3 Flips.

I just finished watching women and I was glad to see that there was jumping involved. Unfortunately, at 11 and 12 yo it is far too early to see how the next few years will go, but since both Cho and Krouzkovitch will be in juniors for 4 years, we have plenty of time to watch them in juniors. The women who are eligible for JGP spots don't inspire much hopes at this stage, but there is a month left, so maybe there will be more stable performances by September. But the judging was less Quebequois than with men, heh.

what do you mean by that ? (Also the spelling would be québécois. ) Usually, the judging panel is very divided among all provinces, so I am not sure about such statements.

When they mentioned triple axels … I thought we would be in for a disaster.

David Bodnar’s 3A is amazing. He only got 8.00. There is something about David, that the judges refrain from giving him high GOE’s. I felt that in the competition. He is the most technically proficient of the boys. I could see him learning a quad.
Edward’s 3A was also not that bad. He got the highest score at 8.80
I think my three boys were in the same team
Anthony’s step sequence and spins stood out
The boys were also quite solid with their triple triples. Better than in competition

The girls were the worst… Kara falling on her 3Lz… Aleksa on her 3T 3T
Stavrina and Natasha couldn’t even do spins properly…
The highlights were Lia of course with her 3Lz 3T 2A combo. 14 points. Lulu also landed a nice 3T 3T combo…but, only scored 6-7 points like at Worlds. Must be under rotated. Reese redeemed herself a bit more… volunteering to go for 3F… single jump requirement this season, landing the 3F and standing out with her step sequence. She is also the most social in this group. I like her energy! Ksenia also had a nice 3F… higher score than Reese.

Also, at the end, the speaker went and told them that this NextGen competition locked in a lot of spots to JGP. But, that there are spots open and he will be monitoring them closely. So, that is nice to know. If you see some surprise picks, it is because they are doing well in practice in the upcoming month or two.
