If I were I a judge, I would have picked Nick for all the reasons mentioned, and if there were a female winner, Melody.
However, if I had a dance company and I HAD to choose between Nick and Artem, I think I'd go with Artem. Of course a lot depends on what they're like to work with in that situation -- considering essentially equal skills.
The show didn't grab me like I thought it would. I felt the dances were too short, until the finalists. Plus the dancers were learning things so quickly, you couldn't see how someone would develop a piece. I know it's the same thing on "American Idol," but at least the singers may already be familiar with the song.
FYI and OT: Anybody see Fantasia on "Dateline" (I think) who talked about being functionally illiterate? Turns out that not only had she never heard "Summertime" before, she couldn't read the lyrics. She didn't want the voice coach to know so she just memorized them from the voice coach. Good for Fantasia for speaking out about this problem that is shockingly widespread in the US.
