So You Think You Can Dance

I think we all picked the winner - NICK given the circumstances. He is very talented. I still think Artem was the most natural dancer.

I am very happy that Nick won, I was a little worried that Jamile might and as I said before Nick deserved to win based on his versitility (sp???). I am happy!!1:clap:

If I were I a judge, I would have picked Nick for all the reasons mentioned, and if there were a female winner, Melody.

However, if I had a dance company and I HAD to choose between Nick and Artem, I think I'd go with Artem. Of course a lot depends on what they're like to work with in that situation -- considering essentially equal skills.

The show didn't grab me like I thought it would. I felt the dances were too short, until the finalists. Plus the dancers were learning things so quickly, you couldn't see how someone would develop a piece. I know it's the same thing on "American Idol," but at least the singers may already be familiar with the song.

FYI and OT: Anybody see Fantasia on "Dateline" (I think) who talked about being functionally illiterate? Turns out that not only had she never heard "Summertime" before, she couldn't read the lyrics. She didn't want the voice coach to know so she just memorized them from the voice coach. Good for Fantasia for speaking out about this problem that is shockingly widespread in the US.

I was surprised that Jamile beat out Blake, but I don't think he was undeserving. Jamile had a much nicer personality than Blake and I give him a lot of credit for surviving so many rounds of ballroom before he got hip hop. Also, I think he's had the least or nearly the least amount of formal training out of the top '16'. The judges thought that he would go far if he could get some more formal training.

Nick has been my favorite throughout - because of his personality and skills. I especially am amazed by how well he spins.

While Melody is wonderful, her freestyle was a bit more gymnastic than I prefer. There were only a few routines where she really came through and totally danced.

I also thought Ashley was very versatile, but she never really commanded attention.
