So-Youn Park

Mirai Nagasu scored 186 at Worlds 2016 and placed 10th. So Youn recently got a PB of 185 at TDF. If she continues to give at least nearly clean performances at her next few competitions, her PCS will likely rise (though I bet the rise sadly won't be as much as some other skaters are getting). Also, her only big mistake at TDF was the fall on the lutz. Without that fall, she would get +2.10 for no fall, +0.80 which is what she usually gets for her lutz (deserves higher though), then +1 for the fall deduction. This would bring her score up to about 123, but possibly higher PCS for skating clean (and maybe no UR on the loop) may bring her score up even higher. The total would be around 187-189.

I think she has a solid chance for top 10, but I've learned from past experiences that I should never jinx my favorites... so I'll just conclude by saying I'm going to be cheering for her like crazy no matter what happens.

I think it's likely she'll go to Worlds, but a top 10 finish....pleaaaaaase

Why not? She had a clean FS 119+ and ends up place 9th over all in 2013. Stranger things have happened. That was when Akiko and Yuna was still competing. Stranger thing have happened.

My please wasn't meant as "please as if" but literally "please please let her get a Top 10 finish" hahah. I think it's certainly possible if she keeps her recently found consistency and can score around 190! Give her her 3Lz and we know she's planning a second 2A-3T in lieu of her 3Lo-2T and it's very possible. How nice it'd be if Korea can send 2 to PC and start maintaining 2 spots again as more and more young juniors rise the ranks.

Unfortunately, So youn is out of Nationals...
In today`s Korean sports main news, So youn interviewed that she hurt her ankle during practicing steps, and got ankle surgery recently. She said that she will skip Nationals and Universiade, but no refer on 4CC. (but it`s most possible to SY skip 4CC too..) There will be 6-8 weeks to be needed for rehab...:sad21: She said that she will use this to opportunity to prepare 2018 PC.

But she definitely will miss ticket for Helsinki, cuz Nationals is the competition which will select skaters to represent at Worlds. KSU will do not make exception this case.

And I wonder she can hop into National team or not next season, thinking of KSU system (Ranking competition+Nationals=pick national team). But there is exception clause in here, so maybe she can be rescued.

4CC is probably out if she doesn't recover before that (as it is no small injury), but yes she'll be out of Worlds for sure. It will probably be up to Dabin to hopefully get 2 spots for Olympics... I really hope the KSU won't put additional pressure on them both because of this unfortunate event. Can't trust them for this, tho...

I can't believe this....:drama::tantrum::hopelessness::palmf:
I was so looking forward to cheer for her at Worlds live in the arena!

She has been more and more consistent recently, why did it happen now??
The pressure is on Da Bin Choi.:(

Oh no!!! And this was about to turn out to be one of her most seasons so far! It's a pity.....

You guys seem to be assuming that Da Bin will be going to Worlds, but IMO, Na Hyun has a good chance too. She has actually been a bit stronger than Da Bin lately.

Either way, So Youn was the best chance for Korea to win 2 spots for the Olympics.... I don't think Da Bin or Na Hyun will be capable but we'll see. Stranger things have happened before....

Omg @ her surgery, must be really serious, she showed some of her brilliance at TdF and now she won't be able to go to Worlds, I hope she recovers for 4CC. So unfortunate =/

It'll be between Kim Nahyun and Choi Dabin now, Nahyun has higher PBs (by a little bit) but I hope the skater who skates the best earns the ticket and most importantly, that the two of them can stay healthy.

What??!!! Yulia hurts her back because a fall walking in the street and So-Youn got hurt practicing steps:shocked:? meanwhile Megan is healthy practicing throw 3a.

Soyoun just posted on instagram that she will soon be discharged and that she will probably be able to put on skates in about a month. Still a horrible end to what was becoming a breakout season (praying for 4CC) :(

With regards to Dabin and Nahyun, I really prefer Nahyun's style and jumps, but watching her recent competition domestically, I couldn't believe how slow she looked. I thought Dabin was slow, but Nahyun was considerably slower :/

I thought things were finally looking up for her at Trophee de France. Poor girl. :( I really love her SP for this season. Get well soon.
