Considering that Irina, Shizuka, and Sasha all had very clean SPs, I don't think that it was the quality of the ice throwing them off. Ice conditions vary from rink to rink anyway, and all of these competitors really should be accustomed to that.

Okay, we shouldn't laugh at others expense, but especially after Dee shared some of her great captions, I'm sorry that I am Those pics ARE screaming for a caption contest!

I also cringe when I see pics or replays or even think of Marie-France and Patrice's fall. That was so unfortunate.
