This thread is really too silent, even though there is so much going on at Moskvich!

Tanja Flade visited "Vika and her boygroup" last week:

And Ira Sharova came by as well:

Gosh I forgot I'd made this thread, sorry! :palmf:
Since Zhulin's skaters all have their own fan fests and and are generally better-covered in the ice dance thread than the Moskvich singles skaters are in singles, perhaps we could redevelop this into a Butsaeva (and co.) fan thread...

In other news as posted in the Russian Men's thread:
-Moskvich-raised Matvei Vetlugin (formerly coached by Liudmila Sapronova) has just moved to Mishin's group. Liudmila isn't especially prominent as a coach, though incidentally I see that Mark Kondratiuk is another former student of hers.
-Egor Murashov switched to Switzerland, possibly will split time between Moscow and Champery.
-Vladimir Samoilov will skate for Poland, no word about training arrangements so I assume he is staying here.

Recent arrivals to Vika's team last season (2020/21) include Alexei Erokhov and, towards the spring, Stasya Konstantinova.
Fun non-competition highlights of the past season for Team Moskvich include Ilya's viral love for ice cream and the school getting some nice publicity in a Channel 1 video feature:

Good luck to Moskvich for the upcoming season!

A new interview with Viktoria Butsaeva was published on the RusFed's website on June 17th:

We talked with coach Victoria Butsaeva about the last season, its specifics, students, coaching team; touched on the topic of comments in social networks and came to the opinion that it is not necessary to trust absolutely all statements.

- Last season was unconventional, this probably won't happen again.

"I hope so.

- How do you rate it?

- The main difficulty was associated with a huge break in training. We haven't skated in three months. When the guys returned to the ice, someone grew up, gained extra pounds, coordinated, and in this regard it was difficult to return to normal work.

Much depended on the well-being of athletes, the period of recovery in all proceeded differently. The situation was more complicated for those who had a covid. For example, Ilya Yablokov's consequences of the disease were felt for a long time.

If we evaluate the season as a whole, the national team's athletes were understandably unable to participate in the junior stages of the Grand Prix, and the adults were held in a different format. The Grand Prix final and the World Junior Championship were cancelled. And at first it affected the motivation. But the calendar of internal competitions was almost completely preserved. And I must say a huge thank you to our federation, which in such difficult conditions held the stages of the Russian Cup, the final, the championship and the championship of the country and even the team Cup of the First Channel. There were competitions organized by the Moscow Figure Skating Federation. So the other skaters got a normal season - their volume they scored. I figured Andrei Anisimov had about 10 starts. That's very good.
Another important point, all our cup stages, championships were shown live on the First Channel, and this gave the participants a lift. And in Syzran, and Kazan, Moscow - everywhere, everything was at a high level.

- Did you say about Ilya Yabloko, how was the situation with him?

- During the quarantine Ilya had severe coronavirus, he came out on the ice only on June 15 at a training camp in Sirius. We were recovering, preparing for the checkouts. But he had to withdraw from the rentals, to leave Novgorsk. I picked up an infection, twisted it for a day, the temperature rose.

Last season Ilya turned out not as planned: he was often ill, had to recover, which affected the training process. If earlier it was possible to quickly gain form, now, apparently, because of the disease, because of age - after all, not a 14-year-old boy, and an established athlete, all somewhat slowed down. Although Ilya is a very diligent guy. Thanks to the federation for giving us the opportunity to perform at the Grand Prix of the Rostelecom Cup and take part in a tournament of such a high level. This added motivation to Ilya for further work in the season.

- What happened at the Russian championship?

- The most offensive tournament of the season. Ilya was ready for this start. Not 200 percent, but he was in good shape. And the ill-fated cascade - 3 - oiler - 3, from which fell, did not allow to be in the prizes at the championship of Russia. Before this start we worked well, fourth Rittberger in training Ilya was already doing great. We didn't plan to insert this jump into the program, because it was still "raw" and didn't jump in the right amount to ride the program with it without the risk. Other quadruples - Salkhov, tulup at Ilya steadily turned out. It was obvious: the guy is bursting, I wanted to give everything at the championship. but...

Before the final of the Russian Cup Ilya fell ill again... He had a difficult season. But I would note: in technical terms, Yablokov has grown in a year, performs three different quadruplets, and I hope that by the new season Ilya will get stronger, gain strength, and all this we will be able to show in the programs.

- Where will you prepare for the season?

- In June, Ilya had exams, so I couldn't go to the training camp. This month will be in Moscow, and from July 5 the training camp in Sirius. Conditions in Sochi are excellent. We're going there for five years. There's enough ice. Everything is equipped. It's a good life.

The upcoming season Ilya will start in juniors, but we will combine performances at adult starts.

- If you take your other athletes, who opened up in the season?

- Andrey Anisimov. Very open. He came to me at the beginning of August last season, and in February we were already jumping a good quadruple salch, tulup. I was interested to work with him, although the boy is stalwart and had certain doubts about jumping. But everything has normalized. This season Andrey began to open up and roll. In its first stage of the Russian Cup, the quadruple has not yet shown, and in Kazan there were already good triple axels, quadruple salkhov. He won that start, and by the end of April at the championship in Sochi tried to fully realize the earned.

I see a perspective in Andrei, I see moments where I can continue to grow. And in terms of quadruple jumps, one more can be accurately learned. Now he's jumping tulup and salkhov. Naturally, the third quadruple must be added to be competitive.

- Will you change Anisimov's program?

"Both of them. From "Masquerade" he squeezed the maximum, next season in terms of expressiveness it will be difficult to pull something out of it, he feels it. It's like Ilya Yablokov had a program "Hours" and we thought for a long time whether to change or not, because the program is memorable, but there was nothing to squeeze out of it. I even called Tatiana Anatolyevna Tarasova, consulted, and she said - change. The situation with Andrei is similar now.

Arbitrary program must be put a new one, because this, in my opinion, was not to say to the best. She took the fact that when Andrei rolled it cleanly, in one breath, the program "played with colors" and otherwise was quite modest. Now Nikita Mikhailov and I are picking up music.

- Will Nikita put all the programs?

"Mostly, he." Eugene Vlasov made an arbitrary Lesha Yerokhov, all the other guys with Nikita Mikhailov work. We have been cooperating for many years. Athletes like the way he puts, everything suits. Programs are memorable and convenient.

-- Alexei Yerokhov is also in your group. Is he in good health?

- Lesha came to us in mid-July. For more than four months I didn't skate, there were difficulties with recovery, questions how quickly he will be able to get in shape. According to the season, not everything was successful, the old injury escalated, because of which the Russian championship had to be missed, although we really wanted to go and the starts were needed. The last two seasons Yerokhov did not start much, this year he played only three competitions - two stages of the Cup and the final.

Alex works, plows like an obsessive. There are no claims against him. Sometimes you even have to hold back so you don't overload.

The free program, as I said, will be new, short leave -- it did not show everything that can be shown in it.

- Your "male company" was diluted by Stanislav Konstantinov. Why did you take her?

"It's an experiment. See. As it happens, we really do not have many girls in the senior group, in the younger group - a lot, and for those who are engaged, Stasi will be a good example. Konstantinova is an athlete quite famous, skates beautifully, knows how to present the program, the young ones will reach for her...

Stasi came at the end of January, before that month skated in the show. There are no questions for her in training. As for the competition, it's more complicated. I talked to Valentina Chebotareva, Alexander Volkov, they say there are problems. We hope something will change. At the end of the season with Stasay we went to the competition in Peter, where she gathered in an arbitrary program, but unsuccessfully rolled back short. It is clear, it was not the highest level of competition, but we needed to understand what to start from, how to build the work. It is difficult to make predictions, but I wanted the athlete to return to her level, which she had in her best years. We're not talking about quadruple, triple axels, I'm really assessing the situation. Pure short program, pure arbitrary with two cascades of triple. She could do it, she did it.

- From this season your skaters Egor Murashov and Vladimir Samoilov will represent Switzerland and Poland. How did you react?

- If an athlete has made such a decision, I think it is pointless to dissuade him. The reasons are different. A recent example: Alena Savchenko left Ukraine for Germany, now will skate for the United States, as she wants to continue her sports career.

Young athletes often make the decision to play for another country not themselves, but their parents, it is connected with work, family plans and circumstances. A lot of our skaters ride under other flags. There is a strong coaching school in Russia, we train good athletes...

There is no ready-made recipe, but I do not think that even leaving the country, the guys change their attitude to Russia.

- If we talk about the coaching team, your student Murad Kurbanov has been helping you recently. Is he doing it?

- Since last season, Murad started working with Nadezhda Kondulinskaya, with small skaters. But even when the older group was training, he was standing outside, he could tell the guys something.

In that season, due to the pandemic in Moscow, there were certain problems with training. The teams had the opportunity to train at home, at The Muscovites, and for skaters who were not in the national team, it was necessary to look for and remove the ice. Because of the current situation, the coach of our group Sasha Kondakov had to work with our athletes for some time on another rink. I needed an assistant, and I invited Murad Kurbanov.

Murad and the guys developed a friendly and working relationship. They can tell him even more than I do, and we can correct something. In professional terms, Murad wants to develop as a coach. He already has some experience. He's listening to me, somewhere I can listen to him. The most important thing in our tandem is that no one pulls the blanket on themselves. Murad clearly understands who is the leader, the main one, who sets the direction, and is ready to accept it.

In our work, we complement each other. And it became clear when in January I fell ill and for the first time in 12 years fell out for two weeks from the training process. Even a pregnant woman didn't miss that much. I remember that after the birth after 10 days I was already standing at the side, because Polina Korobeinnikov had to be sent to the World Cup.

In general, today it is impossible for a coach to work alone. We need a team, a team. For example, the choreographer Galina Ishchenko is my right hand, an integral part of the team, our man, who passed fire and water with us, who brought up more than one generation of athletes. Sasha Kondakov is a great specialist, helps a lot. Sonia Biryukova, my former athlete, is training children for the second season. Kristina Stepanova puts and works out programs.

- Andrey Lazukin and Murad Kurbanov have created their own YouTube channel, where they interview skaters. How do you feel about that?

- Social networks, blogs, YouTube channels are a part of the life of modern young people, and there is no getting away from it. My attitude? If it will be broadcasts in a positive way, the guys will show the sport from the inside, prepare for competitions, talk about skaters - this is exactly what the audience wants to see. Andrey and Murad are skaters themselves, speak the same professional language with the guys, and are sympathetic to the athletes. Lisa Tuktamysheva, Sasha Samarin and others came to them for the interview. In any case, this is not made-up, but reliable information. Because now you can read so much of everything, with such formulations, without any discounts on the fact that those who are discussed, in most cases still children.

- Why trust negative statements?

-- The most interesting thing is that many people read and trust. I recently looked at the comments that people write during the competitions online. I wish I hadn't. It seems that "commentators" do not respect the work of the coach or the athlete.

"Your son's figure skating didn't get caught?"

"No. He's 9 years old, stalwart, daddy. I chose hockey. I sometimes come to games - on the rink is a completely different picture: 25 healthy guys ... That's where I'm not a coach, I'm an ordinary mom.

"Thank you and good luck.

Oh, I didn't know Ilya had Covid! All things considered he did pretty well. Hope we get to see his 4Lo next season!

I should look for the Lazukin/Kurbanov Youtube channel, it sounds like fun (and and a good change to improve my meagre Russian skills) :)

ETA: you beat me to it! :p Reposting the link here in case anyone finds it useful:

Viktoria Butsaeva and her students Ilya Yablokov and Andrei Anisimov at Junior Test Skates in Novogorsk:

From fsrussia.ru (auto-translated):
In the summer we had a training camp in Sochi, in Sirius. We have been going there for years. Good conditions.
Two of our athletes participated in the junior rentals - Andrei Anisimov and Ilya Yablokov. Andrei we changed both programs. Staged by Nikita Mikhailov. We have been working with Nikita for a long time. He has contact with the guys, they understand each other well, so we continued to cooperate.

Andrei's short program to the music of Andrea Bocelli "Melodrama" to emphasize the strengths of the athlete's skating - breadth, rolling. More dance compositions in his case to take risky.
The music is arbitrary from the film "Inception" with Leonardo DiCaprio. We chose for quite a long time, Nikita offered this option. The music is quite heavy, the program under it should be rolled perfectly, but if Andrei copes, it should turn out interesting.

By content: in the short program - a triple axel, a jump from steps and a cascade of two triples - what is prescribed for juniors. In the free skate we plan to jump three quads in the season - toeloop, salchow and toeloop in the second half of the program. Without it, there's nowhere to go. We rolled this option. But at the box office said two quads, because it takes time to roll the program, to stabilize the elements.

This season we are thinking of competing in juniors and adults, it all depends on the stages of the Grand Prix, how it will develop. But Andrei and Ilya Yablokov need to try themselves at the adult level.

Ilya Yablokov's preparation for the season was a little different compared to the rest. In May, he managed to go to rest, in June he passed the final exams at school. From the training camp in Sochi also flew three days earlier, because there were entrance exams to the Institute of Physical Education. But in general, if we talk about preparation, he spent the training camp well.

We left Ilya's free program with the old one – compositions: Xavier Mortimer & Maxime Rodriguez – "Walk Away", Nadim Naaman – "Funny" and "Broken Wings: The Original Concept Album". Short changed, music - Jon Batiste - "Born To Play Reprise" and "I Need You".

The task for the season, this applies to all athletes, to fulfill all that is in the programs, because the programs are good, the content is good. There is little time left before the first starts. Even if you take the championship of Moscow, the competition begins on August 24, and you need to be fully armed, - said Viktoria Butsaeva.

You know the boys have really grown when they make Vika of all people look tiny 😁
I kinda see what she means about Andrei, he has a lot of power and speed (like most of her boys) but is a smoother skater compared to Ilya.

Hope this means we get to see them both compete on the 24th!

First post from the Moskvich Instagram page, celebrating Ilya Yablokov's silver at JGP Košice :hap10:
Andrei Anisimov had a bit of a nightmare LP, I hope he keeps his 2nd JGP spot...

Ira Sharova has been gradually posting photos from last month's competitions (Mozer Cup and Moscow City Juniors), which featured quite a few Moskvich juniors/advanced novices.
Here's Kirill Andrusik (he of the unseasonable festive cheer) and Genrikh Gartung:

Ted Barton interviewed Ilya Yablokov on his win at JGP Ljubljana, with coach Viktoria acting as interpreter/co-interviewee 🤩

Good day for Team Moskvich with medals from both Ilya and Alexei Erokhov (1st stage Cup of Russia, Syzran)!

The latest issue of the figure skating magazine "Московский фигурист" contains two extensive features about our favourite Muscovite figure skating team. :love2:

The first feature is an interview with Ilya, Andrei an Alexei under the title of "Mission Possible".

The second one is a profile on coach Vika Butsaeva titled "To catch the Wave" (sounds a bit odd, maybe a figure of speech? Native speakers please help me out.)

You can practise your Russian and download the whole magazine as a pdf here: http://www.ffkm.ru/images/mf/Figurist_2_2021.pdf
There are some really cute pictures as well, case in point:

This is not 100% Moskvich related, but it features enough of the Moskvich skaters to be relevant to this thread I guess.

Since nobody has posted it yet, I present to you the youtube channel SKATING SKILLS produced by Egor Murashov and Roman Savosin featuring Ilya, Vladimir, Alexei, Stasia et al., with special guest appearances by the ice dancers, army of skaters, ...
The channel really has everything a fan's heart could desire, but most of all it shows that the guys are just regular teenage/barely adult boys loving to fool around. :ROFLMAO: You will find:
- Jump challenges
- Who can tie their skates the fastest?
- Ice dance challenges
- Football on ice
- Guess the skaters from baby pictures
- More jump challenges where the winner at the end has to get a tattoo (did Alexei Erokhov seriously get "🤍mom" tattooed on his forearm or was that just clever video editing? :eek2: Edit: On second look, I think it's some cyrillic handwriting which I can't figure out.)

Anyway, I had a lot of fun watching the videos and hope some of you will enjoy them too!

And another success for team Moskvich! Andrei Anisimov won the gold medal at the second stage of the Cup of Russia in seniors. Coach Vika makes a statement with her sweater!

Vika also brought out Georgy Markov, though he still officially represents Yekaterinburg. If you scroll through the pictures below, you might even find out who took the picture above.

After a so-so showing at JGP, it's great to see things picking up for Andrei!

Coach Vika is positively glowing - must be the illumination of that Olympic flame (well, and royal blue too) 😁

Whatever Vika is doing with these boys, it seems to work wonders. Two medals again at the 3rd stage of CoR, gold for Alexey and bronze for Ilya. Excellent preparation for their ISU Challenger Event in November in Warsaw!
And how does Murad Kurbanov always end up with all the medals around his neck?
