Vincent Zhou

Vincent kept his FS from last season? This season’s FS music is listed as Moulin Rouge:

Good luck to Vincent this week at US International Classic!

Hi, Oatmella, the info on that link is not updated. From ISU: Vincent is skating to (drum roll) "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (no Boyang comparisons, please!) and "Rising Sun"! Yay! :yahoo::yes2:

I'm inclined to think he is keeping it a secret to really surprise his fans with something completely different and fabulous

 So happy my instinct was right on the money!:clap::clap: Cannot wait to see the new programs! Thank you, Vincent & Jeffrey, for the great music choices! :luv17: :luv17:

Edited to add that "Rising Sun" was part of Vincent's 2011-2012 Novice FS program, along with "Iron Monkey".

Thanks Zenchio63 for the info :) Looking forward to seeing Vincent’s new programs soon!

Oh my gosh, he FINALLY reveals his FS music! Sounds like a good choice for him. If I'm remembering correctly, his SP is Muse. Very excited to see both programs. Not much more of a wait!

Thx for posting this link. I didn't realize that he was having troubles with his back. I may have heard about it at Worlds but have forgotten since then. I'm glad that he will cut back on the quads. His layouts were SO difficult and put him under so much pressure. Hope he gets off to a great start in his Salt Lake City competition.

Will there be videos posted after the competition?

Hi, YouTube has a bunch of videos from the 2017 competition so you can definitely expect ones from this year.

Thanks, oatmella, for the link to the article. Arriba, none of Vincent's fans knew that his back was still giving him problems. Glad it's healed. Wishing him the best at the competition tomorrow and hope he stays healthy and injury free!:pray:

Can't wait to see his new programs! Go, Vincent! :cheer2:

I think Vincent may have been attempting programs that his body was not yet ready to handle. He needs to get stronger so that his body can handle all the pounding from the quads. Some of that will come as his body matures but I also think he may have to spend more time in the gym.

Oh, so disappointed for Vincent. He shouldn't push himself so much if he is hurt. They all try to come back too soon! He looks taller and a little more muscular to me, so he may be needing to relearn some things with his new body. It will be difficult, I'm afraid. Since he has Sk Amer in mid-October, he'll probably feel he needs to prepare, but resting his back will be important too. Good luck Vincent!

Some nice fan uploaded a video of Vincent's SP for those that haven't had a chance to catch the live stream.

You can tell how disappointed he was, falling on the first combo and popping the other jumps. Poor Vincent, hang in there!

But he answered my prayer and upgraded his costume to something really elegant and classy! :luv17: And the program was beautiful and really brought out his elegant lines and expressiveness, despite the botched jumps. I only wish he held the extensions and the spread eagle a bit longer. But this is only the first competition and he will definitely improve and adjust. Hope Vincent gets plenty of rest and focus on doing a good, clean skate for the LP tomorrow!

Thanks for your feedback, Arriba. Shoma did awesome! :agree:

Too bad about the jumps, but Vincent has really improved the rest of his skating a lot! I really like the costume, too.

I think you're right. As soon as he come out on the ice, I noticed that he looked different. I feel like his upper body looked weaker and that may not be helping the situation. I know they said he would be reducing quads, but I feel like he should have just attempted one in the short. It is still early in the season, but I hope he takes the time he needs to heal and strengthen his back/core. Back injuries are tough.

I agree on the costume. Very nice. I give him all the credit in the world that he really gave it his all after falling on that first jump. It looked like it rattled him, but he still tried to not let go of the power of the performance. He had some very cool total body movements, although I wonder if even those moves were a little tough on his back. If he needs any physical therapy, I would think the fact that he trains in Colorado would be a huge plus. Maybe he would be able to get therapy at the OTC? I'm sure his team will do its best to get him prepared for Sk Amer. Take heart Vincent and don't get discouraged!

Vincent's rinkside reaction to his skate :sad21: He needs a big hug! We support you all the way!

He only had a short amount of time to practice jumps. Hope he doesn't rush it going forward.

"My jumps will be there eventually" Shy smile. "Give it a little time, you know."

Stay healthy and strong, Vincent! We got your back!

Jimmy was also disappointed in his skate. Go, Team USA men! You will do better tomorrow!

Agree, the costume is lovely. I was initially a little disappointed about the program and music selection, but it was actually working well after watching it for the second time. I like the soothing tone of the music and how it works with the costume.
& Since his SP from last year was my favorite, I think I would be in for a bit disappointment anyway.

I really like Vincent’s SP - and costume too!

Like he said - the jumps will be there eventually, and I can really see improvement otherwise.

Hoping for a healthy season for him - and free of back pain!

Thanks, oatmella. The live stream will start in about 10 minutes, but Vincent is going to be the 8th skater, so it will take another 45 min or more. In the meantime, here are some short practice clips courtesy of Kote, one of Vincent's biggest fans who flew out from Japan just to see his free skate:

I am so glad he chose something with a more unique design, instead of the standard red or black Asian top. Looks like an Asian dragon painted with a calligraphy brush. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give his new costumes a TEN!

Vincent, hope you got plenty of rest last night. Best of luck with your free skate! Please don't strain yourself and cheering for you to skate a clean program. We LOVE YOU, TOO!

The photographer/videographer at Champs Camp did a really good job creating the new GIFS. There are a whole bunch of really cute ones available at Giphy.com.

Edited: Time listed was 8pm Mountain Daylight Time.

Glad to hear you changed your mind. One can never judge a program simply by the music alone. It's ultimately the connection established by the choreography and how much the music resonates with the skater that count. You can tell this program means a lot to Vincent. I am so proud of him for choosing this program to focus on his artistic side.

Vincent: You liked my SP dance? So excited to hear that.

FP video has been uploaded! Not sure how the quality is.
