Same here - with the Philadelphia Orchestra during one of their summer, outdoor concerts! BTW, we found out there will be a Musicians talk an hour before the concert today, so we plan to attend that as well.

Not a trained musician by any stretch but living in Boston during my younger years I went to such events regularly.. now age 76 living in farm country I am happy to make trips to the goat shed.. no regrets but thank goodness for GS music threads..

Happy 91st birthday, John Williams!
John composed the music for the TV movie Jane Eyre in 1971. It's always been one of my favorites and I've been fortunate enough to see John Williams conduct the suite live with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Wonder if anyone ever skated to this..

Lovely. This reminds me of something I heard Steven Spielberg say in an interview. He was asked if he critiques the early efforts of John Williams' compositions for his films. He said, "Never. I always like what he does, and we both say what we especially like, and then we go on from there." (not a direct quote but something like that) He went on to say that they always have a great fun time together in their sessions.
I think those are probably keys to the genius of the music for the films. Affirmation and praise create more good things. Plus, fun does!

He is an Italian singer. His name is Roberto Loreti, but in USSR he was known as Robertino Loretti. He was very popular. As far as I know he became less popular when he had got older and his voice had changed.

Hey, classical music lovers...you ain't NEVER heard "Happy Birthday" like this.
It's a set of variations on the "HBD" tune in a hilarious mashup of Beethoven, Mozart, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Satie, and a bunch of other well-known composers. While you listen, watch the score for some wiseazzery from the composer (e.g., "Satie secretly leaves the party after having stolen most of the cake."

AND especially for @Ruthypegs, @4everchan, and anyone else who joined in the discussion of Schubert's Erlking in the 4CC Men's thread a few weeks ago, there's a quote straight from Der Erlking around 5:55-5:58. No kidding!
The whole thing is amazingly creative and very well done. I laughed myself silly; hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
