Getting exciting about seeing Clare Seo at nats and this! (thanks to iluvtodd)

2022 Lake Placid Ice Dance International

Back from epic 4,000 road trip . Saw my sister in law in Iowa, went to the largest airshow in the world in Oshkosh, then to the Bighorn Mts and to the National Military Vehicle Museum in Dubois WY and then to the Tetons...

Now the fires are picking up in WA . :(
Me and Dan Starks who owns the National Military Vehicle Museum....we are very much alike except he has $800 million dollars. LOL!
He is a very nice guy to talk with and appreciates veterans. Not stuck up at all...I requested he write a book on how he found all 499 military vehicles and he said he doesnt remember! The Japanese tank on display came out of a sand pit in Idaho and he had it completely rebuilt in his shops, like all his vehicles.

From the grand finale at the night airshow 2015....they know how to do fireworks! 30,000 people camp out on site alone.

Hope its cool where you are.....tired of the heat in Spokane so next week I will go camp in a motel in Sedro Wooley, on the cool side of the Cascades, and ride the North Cascades hwy and the Mt Baker Hwy.
Five years ago when I was five years younger. LOL!

All video lists for the following thread are now complete!

Hopefully those of you viewing this will find something you've never seen , or found something long lost.

Doing these lists has taught me a few things:
(Also reasons to check out these lists)
  • Carlo Fassi - I never knew he skated singles and pairs!
  • I learned a lot about the post-war skating and how countries gradually made it back to the championships.
  • When many triples came into play.
  • How about Arthur Apfel in 1947!. Why don't we hear more about him?
  • The Czech skaters were chronically underscored.
  • John Nicks was and is amazing! So are Dick Button, and Igor Moskvin, Tamara (Bratus) Moskvina and Alexei Mishin.
  • The number of skaters who competed at young ages is astonishing.
  • Surprised there is not more video of Lawrence Demmy and partners..
  • Tenley Albright is a brilliant skater turned doctor, so too is Alain Calmat.
  • Oksana Baiul's swan was great, but way before her was Tanya Nemtsova in 1958.
  • Peter Burrows was a pair skater, Don Laws skated against Dick Button.
  • The 1961 US Team plane crash is still heartbreaking. The response of the other nations is also impressive.
  • Looking back at it now, the Jelineks story only gets more amazing.
  • Debbi Wilkes is an amazing person and wonderful ambassador for the sport.
  • Weirdest pair fall I've ever seen: Kilius & Baumler on sbs spins.
  • The German skaters were quite amazing and creative. They need to embrace their fabulous pairs and ladies.
  • Peggy Fleming is timeless beauty and Janet Lynn is ethereal.
  • Jan Hoffmann - so much fun to see him from youth to child to Doctor & Judge.
  • John Misha Petkevich was an amazing performer, so was Haig Oundjian.
  • Wow! Starbuck/Shelley and Schwomeyer/Sladky.
  • Jayne Torvill- pair skater.
  • Curry, Cranston and Cousins had to learn the hard way about how much good figures were worth - but man what amazing free skaters.
  • In 1972 Worlds Irina Rodnina had a very bad week - a concussion and getting dumped by Ulanov for Smirnova.
  • Anett Poetzch was around longer than I remembered - also the spelling of her name changed a lot.
  • Ron Shaver of Canada was another great skater who seems to have just disappeared.
  • Same for Melissa Militano & Johnny Johns. - Johnny competed at Worlds in both pairs and dance.
  • Compulsory Dance Demo:
    Pakhomova/Gorshkov, Schwomeyer/Sladky, Regoeczy/Sallay
  • David Santee and the figures vs Terry Kubicka and the backflip
  • Youngsters Fratianne & Vodorezova, Babilonia/Gardner & the Schuberts.
  • Soviets ruled ice dance With Pakhomova/Gorshkov, Moiseeva/Minenkov, Linichuk/Karponosov.
  • Dianne de Leeuw was quite lovely. Denise Biellmann was awesome.
  • Colleen O'Connor and Jim Millns were also great skaters as was Barbie Smith.
  • The Russian baby pairs Cherkasova/Shakrai (quad twist), Pestova/Leonovich.
  • Canadians Brian Pockar and Vern Taylor did the maple leaf proud.
  • Christina Riegel and Andreas Nischwitz had great potential but were derailed by injury.
  • Underhill & Martini had more strange mishaps than any other pair I could find. They went on to a great life as professionals.
  • US ice dance battle: Smith/Summers vs. Fox/Dalley vs Blumberg/Seibert
  • Vicki Heasley and Robert Wagenhoffer had to settle for Worlds, not Olympics.
  • Torvill/Dean had mad skills and amazing programs.
  • Watching the rise of the Chinese skaters from last to first.
  • Hamilton vs Santee, later Hamilton vs. Orser.
  • Amazing young girls Zayak, Witt, Wainman and Manley
  • Igor Bobrin and Vladimir Kotin were so unique!
  • British commentators Christopher Howarth and Nicky Slater competing.
  • Jumpers Fadeev and Sabovcik!
  • Quirky skaters Norbert Schramm and Gary Beacom.
  • Japanese jumper Fumio Igarashi and the stylish Rudi Cerne.
  • Zayak vs. Sumners
  • Valova and Vasiliev,followed by Gordeeva/Grinkov.
  • Boitano, Orser, Sabovcik, Fadeev
  • I could go on and on...

Been loving the JPG after coming back from touring North Cascades National park but tired of trying to keep my house from burning down.

Space shuttle commander "Hoot" Gibson hold off Stevo Hinton in 2015....fly low, fly fast, turn left.

(Astronaught Hoot Gibson is a funny guy...one year after his plane broke and he had to dead stick land the thing, he quipped he had lots of practice dead sticking in space shuttles)
