4. Stephane Lambiel--I was so in love with Lambiel, but for the "Little Prince" testosterone has not been his friend. Other's have improved their spins so his are not as dazzling as they were two years ago, and jumpwise, he needs more than a great quad/3t.

It is simply the corruptness of skating judging that explains much weaker spinners getting higher spin scores than him, and the embarassment that is figure skating judging.

Not being from the US or Russia has nothing to do with it, and Lambiel has been well rewarded for his skating over the last two years by those judges you disparage.

The reason that he doesn't get the high points for spins is he is doing lower-level spins than the others. I think that has something to do with his chronic knee problems. And he is skating in Calgary with a bad knee once again, after two surgeries that seem to only temporarily fix the problem. I'm afraid Stephane's days in the sport are numbered.

I don't think that, the most important thing about Lambielis his spins.

The most important thing about him is, he is one of the VERY few one's, who can entertain the audience with his skating. The power, the beauty , the smoothness of his fluent, edgy skating makes you feel free and timeless, when he is "on". He is an artistic skater without beeing feminine.

He achived something that nobody did it from small countries in the last decades (since Denis Bielmann let's say?).
He fought through the politics, and nowdays, when he is good enough, he has a chance to win or medal. Still with that, he never will get a "gift" like he should be an American, Canadian or Russian reigning WorldChampion (interestingly, I never had a feeling the strong Japanese skaters ever got a gift, but they -at least-are able to win or medal, when they perform well). Also French and Italian skaters are tend to be "gifted" sometimes.
I wonder which are the strongest Federations in the ISU power-and decision-wise)
Because of that, I don't think, he is the best sample of corrupt judging, because he is the only one, who could "break through" from that a bit.

Talking about judging and Japanese skaters:

Did you all realize that , Arakawa won in Torino without a Japanese judge in the panel ( there was an American and a Russian there, the Russian was suspended twice in the last 20 years, and always came back to the top level of judging, like Olympics......)

Amen! Spins have never been the thing that most impresses me about him. Actually I think he can do with some improvement. But I just LOVE the way he skates and moves!

It's do or die for Cohen. I think it will be do. She'll win.

Despite the knee problems, Lambiel's quads will make everything else look good. He'll win.

All those Pair teams are close. Not easy to pick one out. It's do or die for PetTik.
My preference is for Pang and Tong (most musical) and I like that Putnam and Wirtz to get on the podium or at least we can say wuzrobbed.

Dance should be B&A. Not my favorites but I think judging is by turns.

It depends. If Johnny self-destructs, and Lysacek is given the scores he deserves for his skating rather than the embarassingly outrageously inflated score judges gift upon him, then he has a shot at the bronze. If neither of those things happen the two American men will probably fight for the bronze. He is not quite as good as Takahashi but more consistent than his countryman. Joubert could be a spoiler too.

No question, Oda's gold medal at 4CC was a blatant gift. He had a bad fall, seemed to recover, then sleepwalked through about one minute of his program, executing no elements. He got ridiculously high PCS scores for his performance.
