Yulia Lipnitskaya

Don't know what problems people have with this dress. It fits the theme well and Yulia looks better in it than Uma Thurman in hers.

She's lacking stamina. Could barely stay on her feet during late step sequence and spin. :scowl:

To be on top in tourneys, your body needs to survive two consecutive days of trainings, warm-ups and performing - with second day even more crucial than the first. Those girls are physical freaks of nature - I don't know many sports where athlete has to perform day after day on such extreme and exhausting level of athleticism as in figure skating.
They have to be fresh before LP like the short didn't even happen. Crazy, but real.
Until Julia steps up in athletic department, she won't be able to cope with other issues like jumping technique, edges, choreo, performance, etc..

I know it's too early for a BV analysis, but I came here for it:

So, this was the layout performed today:
3Lz+3T<
3Lo
2S
3F<
2A+2T+2T*
3Fe<REP*
2A<+2T*

(StSq1, spins level 4) BV: 43.78

But with the test skates and the protocols, and what I saw of the performance, I was more or less able to guess her pretended layout:
3Lz+3T
3Lo
3S
3F
2A+3T+2T*
3F+2T*
2A*

BV: 61.08

What is the general opinion about the layout, the chosen jumps, everything about the program? Let's discuss until she can perform the program cleanly!

I'd replace 3F2T with 3Lz2T. If she can land 2A3T2T securely and cleanly in the second half then go for it, otherwise I'd put it in the first-half and have 3S in the second.

I need to frame this photo. That STARE! That POSE!

OMG! I totally LOVE this picture. I love the costume and I love her.

@cold: I agree with everything you said. Although I have decided to not give a beep about technicalities anymore. I am just enjoying my favorites skating as long as it last. Life is too short for me to bother with those things anylonger.:hap10:

I think the salchow is better on the first half, to be honest. I don't know about landing a 2A3T in the second half, but in this program in particular she looked at bit winded, in some moments she was all about the choreography, like a burst of adrenaline, and then she went boom and looked tired. But the second lutz needs to come back, I mean, they ratified the two she performed in a panel that seemed very strict, so that's a good thing for her lutz.

@Alba: I love watching her skating regardless of the tech, to be honest. I loved seeing her in those bursts of strenght in the free. But of course, I'm a numbers' guy, and really want her to do right with those, too - we all want it, of course.

Yes we do cold. Obviously the cleaner the better the performance is and she is happy about it. I like reading your comments tbh so that one wasn't towards you. I meant it for everybody. All this months I've been away I've been looking different videos of my favorites and I enjoyed so much without all those mean comments and fights, back in the competition threads, and the frustration I felt with judges decision in so many occasions. I went back to the late 80s and 90s when I enjoyed FS the most.

Lol...geez...it wasn't THAT bad. :scratch2: Much better than the test skates, with more personality and musicality (particularly in the beginning :luv17:), and she fought through some of those jump landings when she could've easily fallen or stepped out. I was lurking through the competition thread, and you'd think it was like COC lp or something. *dramaz*

and BTW: she looks fabulous skating in that bodysuit!

I think that was about 70 % of what she can do with this program. It looks much better than in the test skates and she performs it really well.

Scary moment in that spin though

I think the entire first half of the program, besides problems with the jumps, was pretty amazing. Choreography meshed well with the music, and she seemed to be enjoying herself just fine - and can you imagine how it will be when she can skate that with abandon and grit? I already love this program a lot, man. Hope she can get it even better next time.

How true ... It's incredible how a change of perspective gives hope ...
Don't know what happened in the last step sequence, but it put her out of balance for the last spin (she lost concentration) and, as Sam-Skwantch just said "Scary moment" :palmf:

Is she okay? She seemed like she was in pain at the end of the program...

Didn't seem too bad actually...I couldn't watch at work, but I was expecting a complete disaster going off of the comments. It's not the worst LP she's had recently, but there's room for growth. I prefer Yulia's dresses, but the body suit is so cool!

Well I actually really enjoyed the routine, the beginning: 'Twisted Nerve', 'Goodnight Moon' and 'Siren Sound' all went together nicely, expressing and timing her movements quite well with the music. Oddly enough it is 'Bang Bang' that feels a little empty at the moment with the focus mainly and only her second-half jumping passes and not much choreography to link them in between. But when the guitar riffs for 'Battle Without Honour or Humanity' kicks in...she goes total badass and I love it! She lost a bit of steam and stopped during the latter part of the step sequence and had a little wobble for a fraction of a second during her spin but recovered quickly enough to finish the I-spin. All in all, a major improvement from the test skates! I mean...I harp on about being on-the-music incessantly, and she was actually on her music for a good part of the program! :agree:

Bear with me, I'm playing armchair critic/choreographer here:
Her gorgeous ina bauer and spiral can be showcased a lot better during 'Bang Bang' if they do a slight recut and change the lyrics from:

"Seasons came and changed the time, When I grew up, I called him mine...He would always laugh and say, Remember when we used to play?...Bang bang"

to

"Music played and people sang, Just for me the church bells rang"...He would always laugh and say, Remember when we used to play?...Bang bang"

It wouldn't be too hard to recut and those extra few seconds of holding the notes (ie. Music played aaand people saaaaang, Just for me the church bells raaaang) would be most ideal for her ina bauer then straight into her spiral to be more of a 'moment' during the program.
