Yulia Lipnitskaya

Would you like the whole script?

haha maybe just the most important bits..
If it's not too hard for you.. please?

People say Trankov is a pretty good commentator, but her really needs to learn how to be quiet during the perforamnce! :)

I know I'm far from an expert, but I swear I saw the lip both in real time and slow motion :slink: but I still think Yulia deserves the lead (Liza had trouble in the Lz, anyway).

He really says nothing new - just repeating the same old things about Julia finding it difficult to tune in, about last season which turned out to be taxing, about the Olympics etc. He does talk a lot!

I don't have a problem with the TES, but I do a bit with the PCS.
Anyway, I agree with those who say we should enjoy the good performance and that's it.

This presentation struck me as the weakest yet. It seemed to be taken down another notch. I get the impression that much energy and focus has been invested in regaining technical skills, at the expense of the presentation. The all-out presentation of Megapolis takes a lot of energy. This appears to me to be a stage of Meoima's tuning and balancing. She seemed to be smiling again (as in the test skate) just before her final spins. Without being specific with regard to strategy, you have mentioned this gradual approach several times, Alba. Her strength is presentation, she can put that back at the right time without moving mountains, provided she has the strength to do it all. A good FP following this will be a tremendous morale boost.

Y'all know I'm a big Liza fan, but I wouldn't have a problem with Yulia placing first in the short here. I don't agree with the !/e rules, frankly.

Yes yes. :drama: my girl is gaining momentum again. I don't regret staying up so late for her.

If anyone is interested I made a quick video (LOW quality) of Yulia's jumps and the cute little ice swipe she did at the end. Make of it what you will. The lutz turned out like a blur monster because I can't find a better resolution to download yet but everything else seems fine. The lutz was on a perfect edge IMHO. I have a very clean view on my editor. Sorry but the video quality goes all wonky when it renders and uploads to YouTube. I'm new to the whole editing thing. :)

Thanks Sam. Great job.

From this video I can't be 100% sure about the lutz, but it looks ok to me.
The Flip I think should have an !, but probably the e call is not wrong either.

Well, I think the right technique has it's importance and should be rewarded or punished.
I see nothing wrong with having the calls. The GoE's are what they are, see the Pairs. :rolleye:

I haven't had a chance to watch the program yet, but judging from what the protocols say Yulia's score was fair enough. She lost 1.50 points on the last spin (BV + normal GOE), and 4.00 points on the flip. I don't know if the call was right but without those two things her score would have been 71.74 - 72.05 that's an enormous score.

I take that back, I just watched her program and that was not a fair score. Everything she did from the elements to the miscellaneous movements were stronger and clearer than at COC. Her program was incredible, how did she possibly lose 1.00 in BV on her combination spin, and almost 0.50 in GOE, it was as good as she's ever done it. And that 3F looked fantastic. A fully-rotated, well done triple should never go from being worth 6.83 (BV + GOE at COC SP) to 2.67 (BV + GOE at GPF SP).

I am so happy she did the 3Lz-3T and that she placed well. I knew she would be in the top three, but being second and only a point behind Elizaveta is great. I liked the new movements between the final spin and her ending pose.

Congratulations, Yulia. Kick butt in the Free! :cheer2: :cheer:

And does anyone know what was up with the combination spin? How did it go from 3.50 BV to 2.50 BV?

The italian commentator, from eurosport, said that they maybe right because of missed position on the first spin. She was short on the first position. Angel, as we call it here.

This is a much better video, thanks. At about 2:40 you can see her smiling, and again after the performance. This was the antidote she really needed. If the FS holds up she will be her old self.

That's the real test. Also, because giving the PCS she got here I'm afraid she will not have benefits from the judges.
So she should skate clean.
Well, at least her haters will not complain about her scores. Although I doubt there is anything which could stop them. :rolleye:
