Yulia Lipnitskaya

Can someone translate his interview please
Averbukh basically says that all of this is news for him, but he's not surprised. He says that Eteri has contacted him a year ago saying that their relationship with Yulya is very strained and that she wants to leave. Eteri then asked him to make some programs for Yulya to help her out. And he did just that last season. Also, he says that the only viable coach for Yulya in his opinion would be Morozov. And that there's still a lot of work ahead of Yulya and he's not sure she can handle that kind of work.

Okay! That's great to hear from your choreographer. :sarcasm:
I wasn't sure till now, but Yulia listen to me: The first one to kick out from your life right now is Mr. Averbukh.

Not really... He said that he is not sure who can handle this work (work with Yulia, he means). Not too flattering, either. :sarcasm:

Ilya got put on my SL last summer. Yulia made his shows a success just by being their and he got swept up in it.

Not all Lipnyata's know russian, and there have been 4/5 links put here without a full translation.

Can't make much sense with google. Can someone translate his interview please. Thank you.
Ilya's interview is very diplomatic with many pros and cons:
- yes, it's absolutely normal to leave the coach after bad season and wish each other well, changing a coach may give a boost to the skater and there is no need to keep bouncing heads against the wall forever, but also:
- Yulia nas many deficiencies in her skating: low jumps, problems with skating skills etc., there was similar situation after 2012-13 season, when Eteri called him for help with programs to keep her, Yulia is very hard to train, needs maximum attention, she had 1,5 month of vacation, was rested, delay in preps for the season were Julia's fault, not Eteri, etc..

Intriguing interview in a sense of where Ilya stands on this (if there is "THIS" at all). I'd say I felt slightly more sympathy to Eteri in this interview in his words (imho).

To be precise, he says that she needs to do a lot of routine monotonous work to improve her skating skills over the years. And he says that she doesn't like that kind of work too much. Maybe I was being too negative with my translation, he doesn't really criticize her all that much.

He needs someone like Radionova who to paraphrase his own words can do the work for him

He did not say that.
He said he is not sure what other coach can handle that kind of work at the moment. He's probably right.

I'm talking about this part: "Над скольжением нужно работать, над связующими шагами, над дорожками шагов. Это очень тяжелая, противная работа, требующая огромной самоотдачи, а результат приходит позже. Черная работа, Юля ее не очень-то любит, но крайне важная с точки зрения будущего". So like I clarified in the post above, he says she doesn't like that kind of boring and hard work that doesn't pay off until later. But yeah, he's not being all that negative, that's not his main point.

How generous of him. I don't think this is the moment to talk about his opinions on her skating skills, and low jumps. Last season he didn't have complains about it. :sarcasm:
As for who's the coach who can manage her, or that kind of work with her, Gachinsky is doing just that, working on SS. Mao started from the scratch working on her jumps. So yes, there are coaches who can work just fine with skaters on anything.
As for for the SS, don't make me name names of top skaters who are winning right now with poor SS and transitions, and low jumps. I suppose they don't like to work on these things either. :sarcasm:
Singling her out on these issue, and in this very moment is poor taste, at best.

You know, you may be right as I think about it.
He is listing so many flaws in her skating and work-to-do for Julia, that as a whole it sounds quite pessimistic. Ofc. he didn't mention them before the season... :rolleye:

:slink: No one does drama like the Russians....I just hope Yulia's in a good place right now. What she needs now is support, not more people trying to tear her down

Ilya rode the crest of Yulia's success, including her starring role in his summer sideshow. Yulia the cash cow. The fact is he came late to SL after others had rejected, and added some Hollywood touches. There is nothing to make me think that his heart was ever in it. Things fell apart this year when Yulia couldn't find the music after rejecting his choice, when she attempted Mulan he didn't have time to fit her in. Is there a choreographer's union? He has said publicly that their styles are different and that his best work is with others. And now this statement. I don't think he spent any time with her as coach, that has never been mentioned. He loves to give interviews about Yulia, while Yulia and Eteri do the work. This might have been a different season if he had made himself available. Yulia is renowned for her fastidious, uncompromising dedication, clearly he is creating an imaginary character to match events. If he were honest, he would admit that much of the blame rests on his shoulders. Don't hold your breath.

YES to all of ↑this↑.
Timing and circumstances are everything.
Girl is on vacation, she has at least the right to think her life/career/relationships over, he didn't have to go THAT deep in Yulia's and team's issues, when speculating. :disapp:

Thanks for the translations, everyone. I think we should still wait for confirmation before biting too deep into the rumour. Like some, I'm confused about why she's going to CSKA even if she's leaving--aren't there a lot of star students there? It could lead to the same lack of attention.

Averbukh doesn't come across very well in that interview, I must say... This, plus him being "too busy" to work on Mulan... well, it's Yulia's choice, but maybe it's a new choreographer is what she needs more than anything.

With a good choreographer coach, Eteri and Yulia will be okay and Yulia will maintain some stability. Changing everything carries great risk. If they get a counselor also, she should recover soon. As for the jumps, is it true that her jumps have deteriorated this year, and prior to that they have been acceptable? In other words, is jump quality a symptom of her anxiety?
