Yulia Lipnitskaya

What are people reacting to in the Kiss and Cry? After all the comments and criticism I was expecting to see her ripping stuff out of the flower girls hands not talking with Eteri and being focused on her jacket and merely not having a big fake smile for the flower girls.

I don't care about "flowers gate" - she's always been a little brat:biggrin:, sometimes adorable, sometimes harsh towards people, but I sincerely believe, that deep inside there is the most warm and kind heart. You gotta remember her upbringing must not have been a bed of roses, plus she's not participating in a charm contest as far as I know.
I don't care about one tourney or one year - you need patience in this sport, just like Alba wrote.
Aren't we all willing to wait an eternity for another masterpiece like SL or MP? I am! :)

What I do care about are these words:
What motivated you to come back?

There were many pros and cons. We just balanced everything, had a good thought and decided to let everything go the way it does.
and they are a bit unsettling, when you realize they refer to 16yo successful, decorated skater adored by millions of fans. How strong is her drive? Was it one time thing or will it happen again, if things go not as well as she'd imagine?
Selfishly: are we safe until 2018?

I finally watched Julia's free and while it's unfortunate that her jumps kinda failed her (though not so bad if I must say), she managed to carry on and actually perform to her best. Even if her best wasn't enough it's ok. And I think it's certainly an improvement from last season when after one thing went wrong she just sort of gave up and just pretty much moving to finish rather than actually trying to perform. This time, while it's clear she's pissed off after that fall (if you noticed she kinda swatted her hand while getting up) she stayed concentrated and made effort to perform the choreography, even when more things kept going wrong. I think the step sequence is beautiful. The spins were also good. I don't mind the dress, it's simple and cute on her. The whole program has big potential when it's performed cleanly and while it may take some time, I'm sure she'll work to improve and keep getting better.

Also the thing at K&C, I feel like some people made it out bigger that it actually was. She did look annoyed after awhile but can't really blame her when it kept on coming and if people wondering about her dumping it on the couch just like that, well where else she's suppose to stack them? At one point it's bound to be irritating and yes she could be nicer but it's alright. That's just my two cents.

Ice skater Yulia Lipnitskaya tells that in this season she intends to return stability to her jumps performance.
That what she told to the journalists after finishing second in Finlandia Trophy tournament.
"I need to return the stabilty to my jumps performance, and with that to fight for something real"-said athlete.
She indicated that her athletic shape is still far from being perfect, but better than it was during the last, very difficult, season.
"I need to work further, and the results of this work will be transferred to the actual performances.
So, what I need is time and not to give up"
Based on her words, at this time she needs to deal with the growth problems, and it is not easy.
"To be honest, it is extremely difficult. In actuality I did no grow that much, I don't even think that I'll grow more than an additional 1-2 centimeters, and my weight, what is interesting, does not fluctuate that much. What is going on, is some kind of internal reorganization, and it is very difficult to grasp what is really going on inside.
I've discussed the issue with many girls and their coaches, and have found that I'm not that unique in this. At some point I thought that I have some kind of malfunction in my body, but no, this problem pertains to every girl, and as difficult for each of them as for me."

MOVING AWAY FROM PROJECTING CHILDISH IMAGE

Team Olympic champion Yulia Lipnitskaya said she has decided to move away from the use of childish images in her programs.
"Choreographer-is always controversial issue. For a long time I thought that Ilya Averbukh is going to be my choreographer to the end of my sports career.
Than, I realized, that drawing the hearts on the ice or chasing the kite can work until the certain age. It would look inappropriate as I'm getting older, therefore, even if it would be upsetting to some people that I no longer use such a methods in my choreography, I need to move on, and can't go back in time"
Yulia Lipnitskaya said that now she is going to USA to continue to work on her programs with her new choreographer Marina Zuyeva.
"I'm going to USA to continue to work on the unresolved issues, which I could not resolve here, before I go to "Skate America", in order to be in more or less good shape"

Thankyou so much for the translation NC89!

For a long time I thought that Ilya Averbukh is going to be my choreographer to the end of my sports career.
 *knife through heart*

Another warmup vid: 3S
And...*shock*horror*... Signing for those flower girls backstage.:p

Reasonable first outing for Julia at Finlandia. She was visibly very nervous so I understand both the performance and scores. IMHO though I hope she gives herself time to relax a bit and probably work on just her basic skating skills and emoting. Because right now all you see is a little girl trying her best to land her jumps with cursory attention being paid to her choreo. She's better than that, she may not be this generations Cohen or Baiul, but she could be better than what we saw here at Finlandia, easily.

Yulia's golden days are over. This girl will never skate like she once did.

Great thing to post in a fanfest thread, isn't it?:sarcasm: Get out, since you're obviously not a fan.

And I might add that this is a funny thing coming from a Gracie fan. Gracie's obviously in good shape, yet she can barely pull out a performance much better than puberty-ridden Yulia. (And I actually like Gracie, but my point still stands).
