Yulia Lipnitskaya

I'm bringing this from the "Request for Translations" thread in which I asked for the translation during her Nationals SP last season and It is courtesy of Fayruza

YULIA LIPNITSKAIA.
Russian National Championship SP, 2015-2016
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soVG...ature=youtu.be

Grishin: the crowd's favourite all over the world and one of those athletes who's virtually a symbol of the current Russian Championship. Born in Yekaterinburg, Yulia Lipnitskaya, at her home city.
TAT: The star of our Olympic Games

TAT: (after Yulia's 3-3): "Well done, she's jumped it, atta girl!"
G: "The audience exploded with applause!"

(After Yulia's skated her routine) TAT: "Congratulations on your return, our dear star! We were rooting for you! We love you! We're happy you're back! Oh, I can't see this, she's skated herself into tears!
Gr: You look like an angel, Elvis' song goes, and it's true about Yulia Lipnitskaya. She's coped with her program.
TAT: She did! She's coped with herself!
Gr: She's in tears - everything was fine. The combination of two toeloops she couldn't jump at the practice before the SP was successful and the audience realised that it's all, everything got done...
TAT: The lutz with her arm up...
Gr: The lutz was fantastic - I can't remember such a lutz with Lipnitskaya!
TAT: It was techically good, different. And most importantly, she'll trust herself, she's back to her form, and Lyosha (Urmanov)... I'd love them to be a success, I want that so badly I'm ready to cry, because such talented girls shouldn't just disappear!
Gr: There's the lutz. Two Olympics Champions - Alexei Urmanov and Yulia Lipnitskaya...
TAT: They did it!
Gr: They've been working together for a very short time in Sochi. The city which was lucky for Lipnitskaya continues to take her to new heights.
TAT: She went clean, and she shows it. She's got quite an impish character
Gr: The home ice helps both Kovtun and Lipnitskaya - they produced perfect performances.
TAT then tells a story about a taxi driver who was happy Kovtun won the day before.
Gr: Just look how agitated Yulia is.
TAT: it's a good thing when you can burst into tears after your own program.
Gr: And now it's time to smile! She comes first, 73.77
TAT: she deserves it!
Gr: And she beats Tsurskaya and Pogorilaya in the technical mark! Wow!
TAT: No wonder! She's loved, she's taken care of 24 hours a day..."

Thanks for the translation Fayruza! and thanks for bringing it over Sam! :thank: I've always wondered what Tat was saying after her program finished...I was in mid-flight transit change at the time and having a happy-sob moment in a terminal :yahoo::sad46:

I am dying to see her compete next week, but I do hope she gets well first. Health and happiness first and foremost to Yulls! The rest can come later.

It looks like somebody asked him to comment, and he responded, because his speech starts with, "I see nothing wrong with this [idea]."

I'm rather surprised that even during the GP journalists have nothing better to do than to mull over some idle comments and bother people to comment on comments! Well, it shows Yulia's popularity, I suppose.

It was that crazy man Vasiliev who started all this. :angry1: He already made a laughing stock of himself two years ago when he tried to lure Joubert to become a pair skater and was talking about it as if it had been a done deal... And now this. As for all the others, I think they are just chased by journalists with this question.

As far as I know, Anna Pogorilaya was asked about it, too, when she was giving an interview at the radio... And when Grishin and Fedor Klimov were commenting the Skate Canada this weekend, Grishin joked about somebody of the male single skaters (don't remember already who it was) if he should switch to pairs, but Fedor hurried at once to close this topic - obviously apprehensive that the conversation would steer to this question, too.

Tatiana Tarasova also said such talk about a possible shift of Yulia Lipnitskaya from single to pair skating is "disgraceful and bullying" as Lipnitskaya is preparing for the Moscow Grand Prix. Tarasova said in the past two years, she has become much better. She skated a short program well and she almost skated a free program.

- Who is allowed to do it in the middle of the season, when a woman seeks to fight? She goes to the biggest event of the season now, conquering the world again. Are you not ashamed to undermine her confidence by some stupid suggestions? She works with competent coach Alexei Urmanov, which is good, and she is quite happy with it, and it pleased her. I wish Lipnitskaya good luck.

There is a reason why I love this woman, well said, well said indeed. Straight to the point, with the right amount of harshness because it is required. It literally is simply undermining Yulia and should not be brought up, especially when Yulia already put the kibosh on it by saying no.

Sometimes I feel like they're exploiting Julia's name as some weird kind of advertisement for a newspaper, website or blog. It's not illegal or even immoral, but surely intrusive and bothersome.

I do find it shameless, unethical. Is there a better draw than the name Lipnitskaya? Remember the bugged locker room, stalking her relatives in remote villages. She says she doesn't read online media, hopefully she is insulated. If not, that mental toughness that she works on, and the quality of her recent performances make me believe she and Alexei would bury this nonsense quickly with a couple of lethal one-liners. Most promising to me of all the progress she has made is her mature realism about herself and her status. What was once a stake to the heart is now water off her back.

This.

Vasiliev acting out again by floating more casual advice that Yulia should change to pairs is a drop in the ocean compared to the damage inflicted by bitter Ilya, at a time when Yulia was without support and battered by unwarranted public comments. Tarasova was silent regarding myriad issues throughout Yulia's crisis period, only now she contributes this diatribe to exchanges made superfluous by Alexei's stalwart support. Why speak out now? Where was she when Yulia needed her? I have to disagree, Yatagarasu, I am not impressed.

So she is going to skate at COR then?

So far there hasn't been any mention of her pulling out, so yes I would assume? *fingers & toes crossed* :)

Now, onto more pressing matters....how many puppies do I have to sacrifice for Yulls to have a skate that she is happy with? :dev3:
