She has anorexia, which of all mental illnesses, has the most deaths associated with it. It's not something "a pause" is going to cure. She left behind many fine performances, many of which are available on youtube etc. Let her do what she wants with her life.

Yulia will be okay. Whatever she decides to do in the future. Important thing is she does what she wants and feel like doing with her life. I was a violinist, I have a degree and studied for 16 years, starting from when I was 6 years old. Yet, despite being very talented and gifted and I do love music, that was not my passion and I went into a completely different direction. She will be fine. ;)

Of course, I respect her decision and I want her to be happy and healthy and to do what she really feels like doing. I just said that I still hope ;)

It's easy to play the blame game. But honestly I don't think it would have been different if Lipnitkaya were born in another country.

My Russian coach said this in 2015, it's inevitable as she was just 15 by that time, the hype was too huge and the attention was crazy. Lipnitkaya was just a kid and no kid can deal with such tension from the public.

I am no big fan of her previous choreographer and her coach, but I would say, had she been American and coaches by Frank Caroll or Kori Ade, the result might would be familiar. Anyone remember Tara Lipninski?

This makes me feel so sad, young skaters are just children and should be protected from all of this. But every where in the world, many people exploit them.

The pricks who seem to love exploiting her name, private struggles and tragedies for ratings and profit. And the a**holes who get a rise out of reading and regurgitating gossip/tabloid trash, consequently adding more fuel to the fire. "A very sad story" Really? :sarcasm: Well some people seemed to have forgotten that A PERSON had to live this story.

Well, whichever 'narrative' the media will like to spin it, this is NOT the end of Yulia's 'story'. Tis merely a page turned. ;) She has her whole life ahead of her. With a brilliant mind and power of will like hers, she can achieve ANYTHING.

Based on a rough Google translate of the article based on "sources" close to Lipnitskaia, she wanted out prior to the Olympics.
 
I think her Euro's performance was her best event ever. She nailed every step in both programs with emphatic execution and the only noticeable error was in the FS which led to her accidentally backloading a 2a-3t (maybe forever changing Eteri's views on backloading) and winning the whole thing. Her SP is so crisp and the spins are some of the best she ever graced us with. I remember watching the livestrean and being really impressed. One of my first events I watched live while commenting on GS. I decided to take a look back and rewatch it again today. I never noticed the difficult turn she does into the StSeq pattern. Watch how her arm sort of counters the first turn. She leads with it in one direction while her skate goes the opposite. It goes by so fast but it's a very nice and difficult highlight and right into a very nice turn that leads into the StSeq. Her arms were always criticized back then but compared to some of today's programs they look very calm and purposeful. Here is a time stamp of it.

Well I can hardly blame the youngsters for that. She is and will always be one of a kind. I mean...no one really has as many signature movements. It's remarkable really...no one can emulate all of her movements but I'd love to see someone try and reproduce one of her programs. Yeah right :laugh:

I don't think anyone could execute her SL with any credibility. I'm thinking....NO!!
