I bet she could skate circles around all the war horses that generations of Russian skaters have done many times in the past.
My comment was meant to express my hope that she would skate to some music other than the overly used war-horses of the past. She is young, talented, musical. Why suggest Dark Eyes or Romeo and Juliet? Snnooooooze. When there is talent and youth and potential, would appreciate if there is some effort to be INNOVATIVE or unique or original in SOME way.
I really did not understand what did you mean with that I bet she could. Like you were convinced that she will go there or what? Now I know.
Alba, you're close. "I bet" is another gem of the capitalist vernacular. In societies where investing money in something requires great confidence, "I bet" is commonly used to indicate a very likely outcome. If I say I would bet on you, it's the ultimate compliment. "I bet she could ..." = "I'm very confident she is capable of ... ." Just follow the money. Also, 'could' indicates not that she will go there, but that hypothetically she is capable of going there (subjunctive). This is an example of why California Google translations can be inscrutable. I bet we could understand if they used more direct language.

I guess, it will not happen. I am personally learning to disregard. The JGP topics were very illustrative. We had 2 unconditional wins with huge margins of 14 year old Russians. But many people praised others pointing out to numerous drawbacks of Evgenija and Serafima. And some even complained about too high scores from judges. The only difference from Sochi is that Putin was left out of the argument.

Like their beloved "puberty monster" that is just about to devour her talent in the nearest future.

Yeah, let's ban "excessive use of the 'tano' hand"! :sarcasm:I guess, it will not happen. I am personally learning to disregard. The JGP topics were very illustrative. Puberty monster chases only after Russian girls. Nationalistic scoundrel! The funny thing is that when comparing her to somebody else, which is more or less the same age, the puberty monster applies to her, only.
Not to other skater from the same age. :sarcasm:![]()

Looks like there is quite chilly in Moscow?
