Yuto Kishina

KISHINA Yuto (Kanji: 木科雄登) is a Japanese figure skater competing in Men's singles. He was born 15th October 2001 in Asakuchi, Okayama, Japan.

He is currently coached by Mie Hamada, Yamato Tamura and Takashi Mura, and lists his former coaches as Chie Mura and Hayato Miyazaki. His choreographer is Cathy Reed.

KISHINA qualified to Japan Championships 2021 by winning bronze at Western Section Championships 2021.

I can't believe I'm only seeing it now!

I've said it WAY too many times but I ADORE Yuto! He's been one of my favorites since his JGP debut in 2015.
I've always been impressed with his smooth skating, nice transitions, graceful arms and 3Lo.
Though he has struggled with confidence in his jumps, they are beautiful when successfully landed.
He still needs to work on really believing in his talent and ability but it's great to finally see a bit of fire lit in him. I've always feared he wouldn't reach his potential due to lack of confidence and drive.

In this article Yuto mentions he had a chance to work with Yuzuru's jump coach (I'm assuming Ghisland Briand) who has taught him to jump more efficiently.
Going by his instagram post it seems he was also in Champery and may have had the opportunity to work with Stephane Lambiel.
In this interview Yuto was asked about his experience at Junior Training Camp and about his programs and goals for this season.
In this tweet I attached a short clip from training camp of Yuto practicing his 3A in combo. Though he still needs more control to successfully add the second jump, the distance he gets with the 3A itself is impressive.

Thank you to Coach Mura who has instilled in Yuto his solid basics, Team Hamada for providing him with the needed guidance and opportunities to build his skills and confidence, and Cathy Reed for his great programs the last three seasons (this season's being my favorites so far ).

Congratulations (again) to Yuto on his very first JGP medal!
He accomplished his first goal of the season with a podium finish in Kaunas.
Hope he's able to skate two clean programs (including a couple of gorgeous 3As), break 200 points and finish on the podium again in Yerevan. I would love to see him make JGPF!

For now, Good Luck to him at Regionals this weekend!
