By the way, why didn't Yuzuru bring Pooh in his Olympic programs?
Well, because it's way too dangerous for such a little bear to be in this kind of program with all the crazy jumps and whatnot ;) he might get his stuffing bruised
But seriously: I believe Pooh was not allowed near cameras because of some trademark thingy with the sponsors (like, the athletes were also asked not to parade their iPhones or whatever because Samsung was an official sponsor)

Ahem! To be honest, I can't imagine YET Yuzuru doing that kind of "sexy" that Daisuke did in "Blues for Klook," but Yuzuru might surprise me. I might not, however, recover from the incongruity of having him skate such a program and then seeing him with his Winnie-the-Pooh at the K & C.
 they just grow up too fast, don't they

Pamina, I commiserate. :(
Thank you, I appreciate it  I'll just have to compensate.
For example with this awesome attempt to turn the kid into a jumping rock star  love it

I think it was because pooh is a Disney trademark.

Keep those vids coming, i hope someone gets to translate the yuzu and nobu interview Later, looks like a very fun interview.

Oh, that explains it...

I think Nobu is a really funny interviewer... I remember another interview just after Yuzuru won, Nobu was among the interviewers back in Japan and he cried when he talked to Daisuke. I love how he calls Daisuke "Dai-chan", and you just can't help but admire the friendship that they have...

Will Nam compete in seniors this coming season? Or is he still in Juniors?

Canada sent Nam to the 2014 Senior Worlds where he placed a respectable 12th. He has openly said his goal is to win the Olympic gold medal in 2018 so I guess there's a fair chance we will see him in senior comeptitions this season. He has also decided on his own tissue box cover like Yuzuru and Javier if that's any indication. :)

Thanks echotpe for the links!

Hi everyone! I'm the newbie and I just found out about Yuzuru right before the Olympic team event. I became a huge fan of his character and of course, his skating ability. One thing I have to confess, I myself don't skate and since I live in Southern Asia, figure skating is not popular here and there is no friends around me has a knowledge of this sport.
Through videos on youtube, now I can distinguish and recognize most of spins. But I have serious problem when it comes to jumps. After watching thousand times Yuzuru's and others' skates, I still fail to tell which one is triple or quadruple, let alone which is salchow, toe loop, lutz. :bang:
I would appreciate so much if you guys can help me with this! Any links or videos explaination would be nice enough!
I really want to learn this very basic knowledge, and I believe when I succeed in distinguishing jumps, I will finally be able to enjoy Yuzuru's perfomances at their best. Thank u all so much.

Hello

it will come with time : )

Here you have jump layout for what he did: 4S, 4T, 3F, 3A-3T, 3A-2T, 3Lo, 3Lutz-1 loop- 3Sal , 3 Lutz , you need to look in details how he is entering the jump and you will be able to recognize what type of jump it is

So, it's also interesting to see how Brian Orser handles having 3 students compete with each other...

Ooooh! Pasquale Carmerlengo's choreography for Daisuke though. That was a nice performance (and sexy *coughs*). I think Yuzuru should really go for him! And of course, Jeffrey Buttle. I hope he's the one to make Yuzuru's next SP.
I would rather Jeffrey Buttle choreographs Yuzuru's next long program and David Wilson in charge of his short.
And no, I am not ready to see Yuzuru perform sexy program like Dai. No no no, I can't comprehend that. but if he does it and success, that would be fun to watch.

But DW is very good with racking up points. It will be better for DW to be in charge with the FS. Just to keep him on top of the podium, I don't mind that at all.

Hi! o/
I recommend looking at this; it really helped me recognise a couple of jumps :) especially salchow - the 'knock-knees' just before take off and the crossed-knees for Loop is really easy to spot :D

EDIT: Super-reccomend the other gifsets under the tag fselements as well. Everything's easier to understand with gifs!!! \o/

I don't know if the video has already been posted but I put it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmurTUnatSU&feature=youtu.be. It is his Ex at Osaka exhibition, with a sad fall for his 3 toe loop. He looks very tired.
But after watching some videos about Sapporo and SOI Tokyo, he is always on the game :)
I would like to know what he is saying after the EX at 8:25.

Hello Yuzu san

This is what Yuzuru says from 8.25.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zmur...ature=youtu.be

“When I take the whole season into consideration, I noticed that there I still have a lot of things to work on. Looking forward to the next Olympics I have a lot of time to work on those things. I want to do my best and work hard on that.

I’m not really the best the person to pull the sport along. What we need is all of the Japanese male skaters together pulling the sport forward. I think that is the most effective way to go about it, not to have one person as the “Ace” but to have all of the Japanese men capable of winning.

Seriously, how old is he really? How can he say something so thoughtful and mature at such age? I can't even understand! Does his father who is a teacher taught him how to speak before crowd or something.

I think saying these kind of things is Hanyu's way of telling the media not to focus so strongly on him; that there are so many talented skaters and everyone has something special they can contribute - the pressure should not all be on him. As Hanyu states so often, he also learned a lot and gained inspiration from the other skaters around him. This attitude from him I think is also why he can get along so well with the other skaters; because he stays honest and humble.

Roxella, Nimi, ShootAnonymous, thank you for the video links! Even I know about the different jumps, but I still learn a lot from these videos

I did not look at this forum for a day and now there are so many pages to read through! I feel that it would be fun if there is some way everyone here on this thread can create our own forum...then we can have thread to discuss skating rules\ask skating questions, and thread for Hanyu's performances, and one for competitions, and one to discuss his music choice or outfit choice xD :biggrin:

In few years he should realease book of his quotes - it would be bestseller no doubt

A friend of mine who works as a graphic design artist already begin to do this, just for fun. Even she is not a big figure skating fan, but the artist side of her loves Hanyu and his style, and also when I show her some of the things he says sometimes, she says they should be saved. :p So she create a little quote book also with pictures. It is just for her, I don't think she thought to sell it (would she even be allowed to, I don't know copyright rules) but maybe next time I see her if she let me I will take pictures and post them for fun :)
