Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

No, there is no requirement. However, he has indicated to the press that he'd like to go and I am sure the JSF will offer him a spot. There are rumors today that he's been asked, but nothing has been made public yet.

Thank you Kansai

Yuzuru did the spread eagle-3A-spread eagle at GPF gala...here's the clip http://youtu.be/0A1a1Feoa88

 practicing, he makes it looks easy.

Bravo Yuzuru! please take care of your health. So emotional watching this clip  Thank you Meoima & ngml for the links

Well like newbiespectator said he's the best Japanese man now. Plus he fulfils most of the criteria needed to land a spot on the world team. I bet he can place 5th or 6th and still make the team.

Fyi the criteria for making the world team:

more I read this criteria and more it seems that they were written just to make it possible for Yuzu to qualify for the world team... they are even more detailed then the Olympics ones and seem to cover every single situation he could be in... I don't know if I'm right, but IMO JSF didn't want to leave home its last money-cow under no circumstances...

to be fair they appiled it to Dai too, he was 5th last year at nationals and they chose him for world team instead of kozuka who was no3, having this kind of criteria sound fair cause otherwise it would be punishing the top skaters if they had amazing season and have one bad skate at nationals, but how those criterias suppose to be? thats debatable of course :)

Well I'm not sure if it's because Yuzuru's their money making machine, but I'm pretty sure their reason for sending him would be that he's their best shot at a gold medal, which is most definitely true.

Pretty sure the injury clause was because of what happened to Daisuke last season.

The injury thing was added back in July, the other requirements are basically the same as last season.

I'm pretty sure this year they're more detailed: the content is the same but last year it was less well explained...last year for example there wasn't incuded the 4th-6h place thing, and sure enough the second highest at the gpf wasn't there...

anyway I agree that the injury thing it's been added probably for Dai situation last years... since they got quite some flack both by Dai's fan (who thought he should have been exempted from competing) and haters (who thought that he shouldn't have been selected) this year they decided to cover their asses more...

Does anyone know how the Winter Universiade selection works? Daichan won it twice, Oda won it once, and murakami won a bronze there before... Only thing is it might overlap with 4CC this year.

I´m guessing you have to be really involve with the University you study, and it is in the middle of march so Worlds is really close.

Congratulations to the amazing Brian Orser!

I was supposed to have a wisdom tooth pulled two days before Barcelona; but after giving it some thought I decided I wasn't gonna take any chances and rescheduled for today.
I'm so glad I rescheduled. The surgeon dude just told me "Well, this wasn't at all easy, and you're looking at a difficult week ahead of you, sorry about that." :drama: I'm soooo glad I didn't have the GPF ruined because of this! And now I'll have Yuzuru's programs to help me through this, too. (I haven't actually seen his FS and Gala again yet since Barcelona.)
