Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Yeah. I think it is a bit unfair to make that assessment when we no little to nothing about what's going on. Let's just de-stress and watch some great Yuzu performances, shall we?:cheer: Worrying and assuming would not do anyone any good.

From what I've read, Yuzuru or his staff have given somewhat consistent information to Ms. Kobayashi that he has injury in his leg and he had to refrained from full scale practice. In this case I think the contradicted information were because Orser was late to the update since he had 4CC to worry for Canadian team. I don't think either Orser or JSF lied, it's just they were given information in different time. He might have told Orser he would be okay and fly to Canada this week but the progress was slow, thus the information from Ms. Kobayashi.

About Yuzuru's ankle injury, the information is still so vague and we couldn't tell for sure the severity of his injury. JSF officials haven't visited him yet so they couldn't give out any realiable information.

And believe me, JSF might want him to be there at WC more than us fans. Yuzuru is their biggest draw at the moment, who else want him there the most other than JSF? The pressure on him this time is not getting any lesser than last year. So I can understand why he wants to avoid the media, even JSF for as long as possible.

I agree with some of you above, we shouldn't expect anything, we can only wish him full health.

Well put :)

I agree. It would nice if people stop being so paranoid over this situation. And him not going back to Canada as in leaving Orser's team? That honestly made me laugh. It sounds like made-up conspiration to me.

Try to be at ease, guys, and do not point fingers randomly. Yes, the situation is far from easy, that's obvious. But does that mean we have to react this way? No.

Be patient. It is not easy, for sure, but that's the best thing to do. As for me, I'm gonna enjoy my day like a normal person and maybe check some of Yuzu performance from the past year. Maybe Notre Dame de Paris? I normally hate pinky colors but he's just too beautiful in that costume. :)

Thank you, you've made me feel much better:hopelessness:
I don't care if he trains in Canada or in Japan, nor do I care about Japan's 3 spots. What frustrated me most was the contradictory news. Hope the three parties will handle media better in the future.

You know, I have only good wish towards yuzuru, and I know I'm in no position to criticise him, but I can't help but feel this way: this time, yuzuru's behaviour is unprofessional/immature, because 1. he or his staff should have given consistent/un-contradictory info to Brian and to JSF, but he didn't, unless either Brian or JSF was lying.

Sometimes, I just think that Brian and his team can be a bit more cautious when revealling info about his students.

Brian had problem with Yuna about telling the media her music choice and that tensed their relationship. Shaelynn revealed to the media that she would be choreographing LP for Yuzu then when asked by his fans about this during ice show, Yuzu just coldly replied "it is she talking herself". That might explain why Yuzu was not so trusting Shaelynn at the beginning of their collaboration. And this time, Brian revealed Yuzu's planning of trip to Canada then JSF seems to be somewhat annoyed...

Just saying, Brian and his team might need be more refrained when talking to media about their students.

Sometimes, athletes might just consider it unnecessary to disclose very step of their plan to the public. Look at how Yuna handle her issue with Brian - Brian has talked on many occassians including in his books about his story and break up with Yuna, but Yuna just say that she doesn't want to talk about that. Her tweet: "I don't want to tell you all about what happened, and I don't have to. It's all between us." And for Yuzu, it can be the same. He doesn't have to tell us everything.

Did you see the update where the journalist said that Brian did mention the ankle injury? I guess saying that it was the chronic one that we know he has. Kobayashi said it hadn't gotten better, not that it had gotten worse, and that he wasn't full scale training. Orser was at 4CC, Yuzuru isn't his only student. So I hardly think Orer was lying about quads and 3As, it's just the timing that we hear about it.

Whoa! Where do you see people hating on Orser???? I'm seeing a lot of speculation, but saying there's hatred is seeing what one wants to see.
If you're here long enough you might understand some posters' dislikeness towards Orser. I'm not a big fan of him or anything, but people should give credit where credit is due. Hatred might be a strong word, though. But dislikeness and distrust and all the assumption that Orser plays no role in Yuzuru's improvement is just not right.

Anyways we couldn't do anything now that the information about his injury is still so vague, we couldn't do anything but wish him full health for his come back. Try to enjoy his performances as much as we can: http://youtu.be/o6Ox36xsbU0

You know what, I just saw that the back cover of a new figure skating magazine is a Yuzuvier picture. It's really beautiful. Even though I don't ship them I was almost converted to a shipper when I saw it. It would be great if someone could post it here:hopelessness:

LOL I've read just about everything in this thread: blaming Hanyu, blaming the JSF, blaming Orser... I wonder if this is a bit of entitlement on our part as fans? Would everything have been better if absolutely no information was given instead of getting these small/vague updates even though they sometimes are unclear in painting the exact picture? Just wondering, not pointing fingers at anyone because indeed this situation is kind of confusing... but I guess I've reached the point as other posters in just wishing him a healthy recovery and to just do his best at Worlds. He's not infallible, so if he wins I'll be happy and pleasantly surprised, but if he doesn't win, as long as he enjoys himself and performs to the best of his ability, I will also be happy.

Mmm, any way you can share a link or post a pic somewhere? :p even a phone pic would be nice. :)

While I enjoyed chatting with my students about what a Yuzuru's fangirl's typical 'one day' would be next school year, topics were totally changed and people have been arguing about his future so seriously over several pages!
After browsing the pages, I want to say "Thank you!" to SONORA, kora52, oriquey giulia95, EloiseDown, Plumedragon, and shingalas(on p.1114 1115 & 1116). You all explained almost everything I want to say now.
Now I don't mind whether he'll stand on the podium or not at this Worlds as long as he can enjoy skating and do his best. Of course, I want to see him win there. But even if D. Ten or others stand on the podium this time, I think that will be a good experience for him.
My son's coach once said "If you continue winning years and years, finally you'll unconsciously get 'The day (I lose a game) might be the next.' line of groundless fear. So you may need occasional losses to break such a curse before a big game, if not so often." (Of course my son was just a local amateur athlete, unlike Yuzuru.) And it seems to me this undesirable situation happend to P. Chang in the season of Sochi.
Besides, as you know, he has a very competitive mindset, so a loss can add fuel to his craving to win the Olympics again.
I'm very optimistic. He's just turned 20 and just started the way to the next Olympics!

ps: We made up a timeline of a fangirl sudent's one day. But its fan-mood doesn't suit the on-going argument on the thread now, so another time!

Okay, that might be the case, but in all the posts I read about Yuzuru not being in Toronto right now, nowhere could I see anything against Orser as such. People might have speculated that Yuzuru wasn't going to go back, but again, nothing actually against Orser. Unless the fact that people speculated about it alone means they're against Orser? There's reading between the lines and there's reading too much into nothing...

Anyway, I may be new but it doesn't seem to me that Yuzuru might not be coming back to Orser. The circumstances, with the surgery and injuries, are very peculiar and justify his stay in Japan pretty well. If he were as healthy as a horse and not in Toronto, now that would be a reason to worry, actually.

I guess as fans we have to hope for the best in regards to Worlds but brace ourselves for less than stellar outcome. (To be honest if Yuzuru must lose his Worlds Gold to someone, Javi or Denis are the best choices...)

And a question: is it possible to use both old SP and LP in the new season? Unless Yuzuru by some miracle has a skate of his life at the Worlds, the potential of either is going to remain unfulfilled. I'd love to see the Ballade polished to perfection, but to be honest I would love to see POTO polished to perfection as well. I think POTO is my second favorite LP of Yuzuru's, after R&Jv01. I really like the choreography of it but the performances from competitions Yuzuru has turned in so far do seem a bit empty in places, so I'd love to see it with all the transitions and hand movement back.

I love POTO too! Actually, I feel the one that he interprets the best is the COC one. Especially the moment he took off his mask.
