Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I think if he is still in for wc, he will probably stay till the end of feb to have more family time then move to Canada in March.

It's Plushy behind this ! He wanted to train Yuzuru, so he will move to Japan and will train him to do qint-quad-quad combinations !

Haha! And they will both go to Korea in 2018 and be assigned to the last group together!

Orser said in his Japanese autobiography that he would very like to be invited to Javi, Yuzu as well as his other students' wedding and watch them as his own kids. I hope sincerely his little wish come true in the end!

I remember seeing this video...should be an interview right after he won the JW title when he was 15. Things have been changed a lot from then. I would believe he will go anywhere that can help him improve towards his 2018 goal the most. Not to argue with you...but how many people stick to your thoughts when you were 15? I never wanted to live aboard (I am VERY Asian), and I even rejected my boyfriend because he had the plan to move to the US. Guess what, I now have been living in the US for over a decade (with that same boyfriend, who has been the husband since the move).

I truly feel for Yuzu about how though to live in a foreign country. In our case, no family around (just we two), very limited financial resources at the beginning - we completely lived on my husband's fellowship, and I almost had to drop out of school without the graduate assistantship (could not afford tuitions). Poor English - although I was a straight A student I barely talked in or after class. My first job was extremely painful because I did not understand what people were talking about in meetings, or over the phones. I still remember how scared I was when the phone rang. And HUGE culture shock (I still have it), loneliness and homesick... long distance with my husband three times in 10 years (will have the 4th one in a couple of weeks, darn it), including the whole time when I was expecting a baby. I can go on and on and on, but it is not about me so I will just stop here. The point is, I think I know how hard it is from my personal experiences.

But if you have a goal, you will get through it. If Toronto can provide the best for Yuzu (coach, choreographer, training mates, environments etc), I don't see why he will give it up. After all, he has been through the first two toughest years living there, and he is such a tough guy.

That said, whatever he decides, I will understand and support him.

Well said. I always enjoy reading your posts btw, and "poor English" is clearly a thing of the past. I hope the same for Yuzuru. ;)

I am not sure if I understood correctly that you are expecting your fourth child? If so congratulations to you and your husband. :)

Thanks Maria- you are so kind!

I think English is harder for Yuzu because he has very limited exposure to the language. When he is in Toronto, he splits his time between skating and his on-line studies. He barely goes out except for grocery shopping with his mom. He has not even been to Niagra Falls. He is actually very talented in language- just look at how he masters his mother tongue in so many interviews. Had he lived there like a regular foreign student his English would have been far better.

About myself- the 4th one- it is the 4th long distance situation I am having. My husband will be transferred to Europe for 6 months. One challenging boy and a full time job ( nearly 2 hours daily commute) is enough for me to handle now. I will keep 4 lovely children in my dream. :)

How many times have we heard him say in interviews that he went to Orser because he is coaching Javier and Javier does two kinds of quad so that is why he went there too? I have heard reports that he cried upon leaving too, but it is normal to have conflicting feelings regarding leaving Sendai; it was after the earthquake and he stated that he feared people will view him as a traitor for leaving while there are still a lot of people trying to build their lives back. At the same time he realized to realize his dream it was something that he had to do, and that people also receive incredible amount of energy and power from seeing him perform well. His country, his hometown, is no doubt always on his mind when he skates and when he trains.

Plu has kids, one of them is very little, so he uses to carry puppets and toys everywhere for sure... :laugh2:

I'm guessing that since yuzuru obviously loves kids, he might pinch and tease plushys kids (esp when they are the kids of his idol :D)

Wow, the forum has progressed so quickly that it took me very long to read all the preceding posts....

Oh this makes me so sad and happy at the same time. I remember an interview where Orser talked about his relationship with Yuna and how he wanted to go to her wedding one day and then after that he said he tries not to become that emotionally connected with a student becuase of the split but hearing this makes me think he already has again, with Javi and Yuzu :)

This thread changed a lot...
Sorry to spoil the mood. Can I just say at this point it seems Yuzuru won't go back to Orser? Just my 2 cents.

I must admit the same thought has crossed my mind. While I think it's unlikely, there certainly are factors to keep in mind: he hasn't been in Toronto since early November which maybe makes it harder to go back. He's become comfortable being in Japan with family and friends. Understandable. There are the conflicting reports about his return to Canada from Orser and JSF, and most recently "an ankle issue" which for some reason is preventing him from returning even though it seems he is training. Or maybe not. All very confusing to say the least.

I'm hoping this all can be explained and he is soon on his way. Training on his own with "instructions" from Orser is definitely not the same as being at the CC with other top level skaters preparing with their coaches for Worlds. Not even close. He's spent many years traveling all over the world for competitions and has dealt with time zone changes and jet lag, so he probably isn't staying away for that reason as some have mentioned. So much:drama:! I hope we have some good news soon.
