Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Thanks!!! I know, I'm super excited for next season and I havent even recovered from this one, I'm kinda like Yuzu!! Haha. After thinking about it a bit more...its not like Patrick is old...he and Javi are basically the same age. Im just so used to thinking young (16-20) like Yuzu and Nam!!

Haha, maybe that's because Patrick stayed off ice for a season and when he comes back with plushie, he sounds more old lols...

About ice show thing, if yuzu finds ice shows fun and relaxing, which I do think is the case, then doing a minimal number of them won't really hurt, just don't do many crazy jumps in them like 4t-3a-3a or something like that? Just like how listening to music a bit to take a break from preparing for exams I guess?

While the news of Patrick and Evgeny's return to competitive skating next season wasn't a total shocker to any of us, it sure sets up an exciting season for us fans!!! Everyone has their opinions on it, and here are my thoughts.

Great post. I think you made a typo. It should be "he has already won the individual mens event at the 2006 Olympics in Torino" when you talked about Plushenko. But you wrote 2016. The top rank of today's men's field is a lot more crowded than in the past.

Thank you! I always enjoy your blog!

I really miss TOI though.....everything about it was perfect :hopelessness: Will we have to wait till 2018 to get another TOI?

7 years going

Yeah! TOI! Me too.. If we donot have it this year, the possibility for it to be held next year seems to be low…It’s sad we have to wait it till 2018.:hopelessness:

7 years are long. What’s a difference.. After 7years, how will he be?

Sometimes I think it's too early to talk about Olympics 2018 contenders...since Hanyu-san was not in really in the talk among things after the Vancouver games were finished, right? So I think most skaters just try to focus on doing their best instead of worrying what the others are doing...

Ohh~ Happy 1,400 and early 3,000,000 ;)

:hb::points:

Since we hit the big 3, maybe its a prelude to Yuzu hitting the magic 300 next season?

Yay! At page 1400 already!!

Sure let's hope he'll hit 300 points!!! Another wr!

Can we make a record to reach page 1700 before the season starts?

@Bonesfan I trust he and his team knows better than to overwork himself especially with what happened in the last few months. And Brian's there to keep an eye on him. Its alot better than him training in Japan by himself and having to attend all the ceremonies and press interviews.

Yeah, agree that Brian and the Cricket Club team know how better to manage overwork. Yuzuru, not so much unfortunately.

Only 1,000 more views to hit 3 million - maybe we should all view the thread 10 times a day......oh wait are some people doing that already?

Maybe married with a family, studying for a PhD, coaching.....the possibilities are endless.

Plushenko is so eager for competition that he ran out of Winter olympics. Now he will just show up here for Rio 2016, bc why not :laugh2:

(Typo aside, great post )

1400 pages  I feel for who try to catch up with everything honestly.

For now, a one quad SP and a second 4T should be more than enough for Yuzuru to be at the top, his BV is unmatched. :agree:
A healthy Yuzuru clearly only need 2 quads to win all over the field.

I agree, with Yuzuru's skating right now, he possesses the one-of-a-kind appeal and charm that no one else has. For sure he can win over the rest of the field with 1 or 2 quads with a clean performance. ;)

Is it really necessary for him to add 3 quads? (the general public probably doesn't even see the difference between 3 and 4 rotations, points aside)

I've always thought that skating close to the boards doesn't look attractive. Skaters look crowded or like they are running out of room. It's like a photo or a painting or even text, if you don't have margins it looks awkward and uncomfortable. So I've always appreciated that Yuzuru doesn't skate close to the boards and doesn't ruin the visual composition of his skating.

Great point you made there, also the comparison you made with margins really help in this context. I like how he doesn't get close to the boards too because it's sometimes distracting if the skater constantly runs out of room in the rink. I've never thought about this before it was mentioned on this thread actually.

Also, this thread moves lightning fast, I can't keep up! The discussion right now is really interesting, thanks for the great read, guys! Congrats for a total of 1400 pages, wow!!
