Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I wonder when there will be no discussion about Yuzu being overscored (even last year when PW was absolutely perfect there were still comments like this:laugh:)

Details... please we need details...

I dunno what to say, other than, I feel very lucky to have been there tonight. After CoC and NHK, I never in my wildest dreams dared hope. I also knew I would feel a bit sad, regardless, because yes, I adore Yuzu, but I also like the other skaters, and I would really just prefer if all six could have a gold medal (because I am not a FS expert, I just look at the 'beauty' of it, and everybody tonight blew me away for different reasons).
Hanyu does have something... Special? Maybe the blingy costume (nudges Pamina). ;-)

Edit: Hanyu's smile was just wow!! Joy!

Lol I know right it never ends, to be honest Yuzuru was scored fairly here if he had landed everything cleanly he would of gotten 99 or even 100. He did get a deduction but it wasn't the important jumps like the 4T and the 3A so it didn't affect him that much, but who really cares about numbers when he smiles like that . Overall I think this sp is better than PW mainly because of his improved skating skills and everything looks lovely.

Hmm...I guess I'm still emotionally attached to PW  But yes, his SS improved a lot and he is so graceful. The step sequence is so beautiful.

Yuzuru´s program spanish comment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzQrhX7oWC8

They love him, talk about Yuzu´s friendship with Javi. They said it was a beatiful program.

Thanks for sharing. The TDP commentators have always been so supportive and gracious towards Yuzuru, even if he is a strong rival to their boy. :) Have also to smile a bit when Yuzuru was trying to see his scores, he must be as myopic as Jason Brown. ;)

Hi Pamina! Can you please tell us more about your experience at the competition and your impression about all the skaters? Thank you!

Right now I only have my smartphone and semi-acceptable wi-fi, but I'll probably write a little more about the others too once I'm back home and have an actual computer available ;) but it's just a-ma-zing. Worth every cent and every single nerve I have lost already!

I'm pretty sure I'm an even worse source because I probably know even less about anything. He's just simply gorgeous all around. Everything looks so effortless and I'm so in love with his spins, he just kinda goes with the flow of the music and his positions look so "tidy" but it doesn't look like he has to even try hard to make it look so good. And I get why some people say it's like he's flying over the ice because sometimes it really looks like he's gliding without any resistance. Sure, ice is slippery, but not that much.

And oh my God yes the costume sure helps. Did I mention how much he's GLITTERING??? I keep giggling just thinking about it, I LOVE it!

[unacceptably crazy fangirl mode on] agreed. Yuzuru smiling might haunt me in my dreams. [/]

Yuzuru was never a very consistent skater, so scoring debates will most probably happen. The only way to block that is going clean ALL THE TIME, but this is unrealistic because he's ambitious so just let him go his way. I don't see why make much fuss about it, talk about scorings happens in every competition for every skater, the rules are flawed the sky is blue. it just happens that Yuzuru is more prone to that because of his position, and the only person capable to block the aftermath of that is himself. I coudn't care less about placements right now, i'm just glad that I can replay this SP routine once more.

Believe me or not, I like him like this, not very consistent because it's much more exciting to see him fighting for everything, trying to come back.. If he had been clean on all his performances, maybe it wouldn't have been so interesting to watch him. MAYBE I wouldn't have been such a fangirl if there hadn't been so many ups and downs. I just remember 2012 worlds and that fall on the step sequence, the disastrous SP from 2013 WC and then the beautiful LP. The FS from Sochi...the SP from the worlds and so on:laugh: (yeah, that's a weird way of thinking, but I prefer him having mistakes and than coming back)

:agree:

I rewatched the sp like six times (highlight of my day ugh) and there was no way he could of landed that combo, there was barely any room to land it. :p

I think if he would be straight in the air on it, he could make it. I saw on one video him doing 3T on this combo after bad 3Lz from stand still.

I'm so happy for you guys that you can see him live
Maybe you'll bring him luck tomorrow too:biggrin:

I really do feel lucky right now, because honestly, the past few months I kept thinking he would never make it to Barcelona, so to actually see him, and see him perform so well *and* right in front of me...

Well, let's just say that I saw an ad for some Tour packages for Worlds 2016, and the prices just completely threw me. To get the same terrific seats that we have here, I think you pay like 3000 US dollars inc hotel (ex gala), and yes I know it's Worlds, but I am not fan enough that I would like to sit through all those long competitions anyway, so this works out really well for me. And by comparison, this was Really Cheap, so maybe the one big FS event I ever attend in my life, I hit my personal jackpot with Yuzu (and Machida etc.)

Here's to another beautiful day tomorrow!

He was smiling all the way until the last spin. And he was very cherry in the Kiss & Cry, I´m glad to see him happy after these couple of weeks.
