Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

^^ I totally understand the feeling of hit the jackpot with certain skater (especially your fav) during perhaps once in a life time big FS event. Wish you hit your jackpot again tomorrow in the long program.

:agree:

I rewatched the sp like six times (highlight of my day ugh) and there was no way he could of landed that combo, there was barely any room to land it. :p

I as well don't agree with a lot of placements often, Yuzuru's too, and I often disagree with a lot of his decisions. There's no reason for a person to try to defend the scores of your favourite skaters always not only because it's a huge waste of time, but also because there's the possibility of the scores being actually wrong indeed :laugh:I'm not blind or not opinated but today I honestly can't form a clear opinion because I'm just loving too much SP and I ain't got time to any other thing right now. If complaining changed rules FS would be the fairest and the most popular sport of all time. Yuzuru controls his path and also his reputation because he knows the judging the system very well by himself since he competes at this system. If this is his approach, fine. Just drop by routines like this once in a while and I will be a happy fan, thank you.

I'm very happy for Yuzu. That smile is worth everything:cheer2: as for the scoring, I'm not an expert, so I'd rather shut up and trust the judgment of the professionals rather than some amateurs in some thread:mad:anyway good luck to yuzu tomorrow. He's still not fully recovered according to his interview, so I'm not expecting him to hold until the end of the lp. But as long as he smiles like today I'll be happy too.

Mhmm agreed. I don't have much time on my hands to defend his scores I can only appreciate his smile after getting up from that fall, It doesn't really matter what I think about scoring since I'm not an expert lol. I just form basic opinions (that can be wrong because I'm not a judge) on what I see and it's basically on the judge's hands, I'm only a spectator of his beauty and if he keeps this up I'm gonna need a box of kleenex from all the tears I'll be shedding.

Also, I think it was actually better that he didn't have a clean SP because this might motivate him for the FS, that's how he works. Clean SPs from him sometimes mean implosions. My ideal podium would be Machida (not my favourite but he deserves it BIG time, for various reasons) Yuzuru, Javier (bounce back on the free!! Is it possible?). I'm still not sold on his FS, the vocals just don't do it to me, while the bits without vocals are glorious. My current status on Chopin SP though is quite alarming. If he manages to make one clean and while being "ON" prepare the stretchers

We are all just spectators, this is the reality. The person who knows zero about the rules, the person who thinks that knows 100% about the judging, the person who actually knows about 90% about the judging and is making clear points, the person who isn't very clear and so on. They are all the same. Don't we, as fans, and also the skating community want more clean performances for Yuzuru? Of course, but the path of a skater is on his own hands. Yuzuru could focus on that, but he's trying something different, it's his life after all isn't it .. So yes, I'm with you, I'm also just a spectator and I will probably needs 2 more boxes of kleenex

I know I'm quite late (but in my defense, it was 4am when he started skating) but congrats Yuzuru!! :cheer: That performance was amazing even with the fall and I was so happy to see him happy after the skate. I mean, that was probably the first time he smiled like that after a performance this season. Hope he does even better for the LP tomorrow! But no pressure on him, because getting on the podium after such a trying season would be a huge accomplishment already. :)

Imo the placements and scores were correct. idk why someone gave him a -2 instead of a -3 for that fall but I felt that everything else was fair.

Even a fan of Tatsuki who watched live among the audience said when Yuzuru finished his SP, they forgot that he had a fall. They said to be fair it was not disruptive to the performance.
Yuzuru got back and smiled, such radiant attitude.

Having watched it live, I can only say it was absolutely amazing. That's the only way to describe Yuzu's SP tonight. If you want more details, he was fast and light throughout the whole program. Some skaters stroke fast and jump, but then look slow and heavy between their big elements. Yuzu kept a great balance between speed and softness of movements, not to talk about his musicality. He has by far the best skating skills and his jumps are gorgeous not only because he jumps so high and rotates so fast, but also because his landings are so soft it makes you wonder if he's skating on ice or he's floating. Let the haters hate, let them go crazy about the results and claim overscoring...Yuzu was the best today and if they can't accept that it's not our problem. People watching him live agree that he was awesome, TV commentators praised his skating too and said it was incredible, judges agree too...what do they want? A 10 point penalty for falling? Anyway, go Yuzuru! I know you can skate a clean Phantom tomorrow!

 YAY wonderful to come back to good news
Can't wait to watch it
Oh My that was sublime:drama: I was sad about the se-3a-se going away, but the choreo after the 4T is  and the original will probably come back anyway. JButt has really outdone himself. And so has Yuzu! SS improvement like how. and musicality on point *faints* and the steps *dies* the spins *dies again*
ooh I watched it again I can't even. People maybe whining on the other thread (I don't know I'm not going to look) but I'm going to say he wazrobbed on GOE for 3a and 4t how did he not get a single 3 for the 4T? maybe skating first... he took a pcs hit as well for the fall, that could have had more 9s (and 10s but maybe that's me being a crazy fan); though it could have been consistency lowering as well. hmm looking at others looks like the judges were just conservative with the 3s (haven't watched anybody else yet)

Am I seeing things or did his boot/blade catch on his pant leg during the 3t?

You are so lucky to see him skate live! He is absolutely brilliant!

The think wich makes me laugh a lot, but sometimes also makes me wonder is why he's always surprised with his scores?

Yuzuru seems to always expect that he should score lower than the scores they give him. :) Especially when he has some mistakes.

So happy to see a smiley kiss and cry this season!! Finally!!:cheer: And he went for a hug with Orser aww...... He totally laughed when he fell on that combo, I wish media would ask him what he was laughing about! Probably, "ah, I've messed it up again..." reminiscence of his smile when he couldn't hold on to his spin during Notre Dame FP.

This should give him the confidence he thought he had lost...good luck tomorrow kid!

The Yuzuru we all know is back in action!!! I'm so happy!!!! I was holding my Winnie-the-Pooh doll and a small Japanese flag when watching it.
